NEW BERNALILLO HIGH SCHOOL NEARING COMPLETIONThe new Bernalillo High School, with a sticker price of $34 million, will be completed next month. It will be a two-story structure with about 76,000 square feet of space, including classrooms, library and administration offices.Students have been housed in structures that date back to the 1950's and has grown like "Topsy, " adding disparate structures from time to time for administration, automotive, culinary arts and a gymnasium. Most of the old school will be demolished, but the gymnasium will remain.Modern electronics will be a significant change. Incoming freshmen, numbering over 200, will receive electronic notepads, replacing textbooks, which they will keep for the four years at the school.
