When older adults or those with disabilities face health challenges, home is where they want
to stay. But it comes with uncomfortable questions. Is it practical to stay at home?
What kind of care is needed? Who should provide it? How is it arranged?
Connecticut Community Care (CCC) helps people live in the comfort of their homes and communities – while ensuring families and caregivers
are comfortable with the process.
“I appreciate the help I have been given over the past 10 years,” says Ann-Marie’s
client Lina. “I’m very sick, but I’m home and have help. CCC gave me life.”

Jewel retailer ‘Crystal’ clearSTAFF
Bristol resident Mary O’Donnell has been working from home long before everyone else had to in March 2020.
O’Donnell is a group leader for Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, a company that provides a flexible work environment for their sales representatives to sell unique and affordable crystal jewelry.
“Since 2003 I’ve been working from home just doing this (selling jewelry),” O’Donnell said.
O’Donnell has been selling jew-elry for 50 years, and has been selling jewelry through Touch-stone Crystal for seven years. She said she likes working for Touch-stone Crystal because she gets to be her own boss as an indepen-dent contractor for the company. The business also primarily sells jewelry through parties, which she enjoys.
“Every time I go to work, it’s a party. Who can say that?” O’Donnell said.
The parties used to be in person, but since the pandemic began, they’ve been virtual. O’Donnell said she will likely start hosting in-person parties again within the next few months.
Swarovski, which is the parent company of Touchstone Crystal, is a jewelry and accessory brand that was founded in 1891 by Dan-iel Swarovski. According to their website, his vision was to create
“a diamond for everyone,” so he invented an electric machine that cut crystals more accurately than ever before.
Touchstone Crystal is Swarovs-ki’s only direct-sale division. They sell their jewelry exclusively through the parties their consul-tants host.
O’Donnell said consultants also host fundraising parties for chari-ties and local organizations. In the past, she has held fundraisers to raise money for cancer research.
“Anybody who’s looking to raise money for whatever they’re involved in can do a party. It’s an opportunity for us to give back,” O’Donnell said.
O’Donnell said Touchstone Crystal helps women gain inde-pendence.
“Our business is all about pro-moting women and making them feel good about themselves,” O’Donnell said.
