Quick Overview of New Awards
Communication track - no changes except names
Leadership Track now has three (3) levels– Competent Leader (manual)– Advanced Leader Bronze (required CTM/CC)– Advanced Leader Silver
Leadership Track (after 1/1/06)
If a member joined January 1, 2006 or later, he/she use the new award track– Competent Leader
• completion of Competent Leader Manual
– Advanced Leader Bronze• Complete Competent Leader• Complete Competent Communicator/CTM• Serve as officer for six (6) months & participate in
preparation of Club’s DCP plan• Attend officer training while an officer• Complete two (2) modules from the Successful Club
Series
Leadership Track after (1/1/06), continued Advanced Leader Silver
– Complete Advanced Leader Bronze– Serve as District Officer (one year term)– Complete High Performance Leadership Project– Serve successfully as Club mentor, sponsor, or
coach
The New Competent Leader Award
Ten-project Competent Leadership manual can be completed while serving in club meeting roles.
Competent Communicator award is not required for completion of Competent Leader
Members may apply for new award in July 2006– Reminder: There is a grace period of two years (until
June 30, 2008) for members who joined before Jan. 1, 2006 allowing them to complete the “old” Competent Leader Award

Included in New Member Kit Available for separate purchase Includes 10 projects
– Most projects have multiple requirements– Projects 6, 9, and 10 can each be completed
with one activity

Most projects focus on meeting roles– Gets new member involved right away– Provides immediate feedback on performance
in meeting roles– Member can track progress toward an award by
participating in a meeting

Some projects focus on club management or activities outside of the club– Project 6: involves club events or resources– Project 8: involves club membership or PR– Project 9: involves mentoring– Project 10: can involve chairing club event

Each activity has place for written evaluation
Verbal evaluations are not required– Meeting time may not permit verbal
evaluations, especially if many members are working through the manual
– It’s up to the club to decide whether to provide verbal evaluations
