• Ranked in the top ten percent of the nation’s 129 medical schools in primary
care education by weekly news magazine U.S News & World Report.
• UMMS explodes onto the national scene as a major center for research and
ranks highly among NIH-funded medical schools (ranks 36th in National
Institutes of Health funding among 141 U.S. medical schools, according to the
2013 report from the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research).
