Kayaking/Fishing AdventureThis camp is perfect for the child who loves the water, fishing and outdoor adventures. Youth ages 8-13 will learn basic paddling stroke techniques, water safety and fishing (catch and release). No experience necessary. Character building, cooperative skills, individual success and safety are all emphasized. All equipment needed is provided. Your child’s instructor Pat Caldwell is a certified lifeguard. Try Archery This one day workshop for youth, ages 7 and older with an adult, will let you try the sport of archery. Learn the basic safety and shooting techniques along with some of the traditions of the sport. Orion Archery will provide equipment/bows, arrows, targets and safety equipment along with certified NADA and ASAP Instructors. Program will be held on the field by the Rob-binsdale Community Gym if weather permits; otherwise it will be held in the Robbinsdale Community Gym. Register by October 7. Archery CampYouth ages 7-17 will learn range safety and proper shooting techniques for compound and traditional bows in this two day camp (non-school days). Children’s Tennis LessonsLike our summer tennis lessons, we will teach children the basic skills of tennis, help them stay physi-cally fit, and familiarize them with a great game to play with old and new friends! All camps are run by nationally licensed Coach John Richardson and his Revolutionary Sports Staff. Sign up for one or all four. Note: Participants who register for the full day may bring a bag lunch and supervision will be provided. Revolutionary Sports- MightyStars SoccerThe MightyStars program is designed for youth ages 5-8, who wish to further enhance basic skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. Par-ticipants will have the opportunity to play in games and learn the values of sportsmanship and teamwork while having fun in a semi-competitive envi-ronment. Emphasis is placed on team play and sportsmanship. This class is suitable for new and existing players. Players will learn some new skills and the progression from one sport to the next will help players achieve success even if they have played that sport before. Revolutionary Sports - MightyStars Floor HockeyThis hockey class for kids ages 6-8 maximizes the time a player spends handling their own hockey stick and ball (used for the puck). One theme will be consistent through the entire practice and always ends with a game. The themes will include moving with the “puck”, shooting, passing and receiving, changing directions and speed, and defending. This program is coordinated by nationally licensed coach John Richardson and run by Revolutionary Sports staff. Come join the fun, improve your child’s skills, boost their confidence, and help foster an excellent introduction to the sport. Skateboard CampThis camp, for ages 6-15, is for beginner through expert skate boarders. We’ll cover techniques in balance-to-pushing, pushing, and dropping-in, and also cover park safety and etiquette. This camp is done in cooperation with Sports Unlimited. Campers should bring a skateboard and helmet. Knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards are highly recommended. Teeny, Tiny TappersThis program is for children with birthdates between June 2, 2008-January 1, 2009. Here is the chance for the younger ones to have some fun in a tap and ballet class. This class will be offered for three sessions (fall, winter and spring), but new dancers will not be accepted after the fall class. This group of dancers will not dance in the spring recital. New Hope Tumblers Competitive GymnasticsBe a part of New Hope’s competitive gymnastics program! This competi-tive program is part of the Minnesota Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA), which is an organization that offers children, ages 6-18, competition against other Recreation programs. To be eligible for the team, gymnasts must be currently enrolled in an ad-vanced or advanced 2 class through New Hope Parks and Recreation. Try-outs will be held in mid-September and teams will be formed. Practices will start in late September. An informa-tional meeting will be held on August 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Sandburg School.

Tumbling Tots: Parent/ChildThis is a great program to start your pre-schooler on their way to developing basic gymnastics and tumbling skills. The kids, with the help of a parent and our gymnastics staff, will develop gross motor skills through tumbling, get an introduction to the various pieces of gymnastics equipment, and have lots of fun and games. A parent must participate! Rink Rat HockeySpend the best months of winter playing hockey outdoors! This is a co-rec program for boys and girls ages 5-12. The program consists of two pre-season practices and eight instructional games every Friday evening and late Sunday afternoon from January 6-February 10. Volun-teer coaches instruct and officiate all games. There will be no goalies, just goal covers. Home games will be played in New Hope. Games will also be played in nearby communities. Games will be rescheduled in the event of cancellations (weather permitting). Participants must provide their own transportation and equipment (hockey skates, stick, helmet with mask, mouth guard, shin pads, hockey gloves, elbow pads and protective cup if applicable). Over 45 Mixed Doubles Pickleball LeagueThis fall we will offer a 45 and over pickleball league for mixed doubles. This exciting mini-tennis game is a combination of ping-pong, tennis and badminton and can be played with two or four players. It is played on a court the size of a badminton court, which is smaller than a tennis court, using tennis rules and a smaller rac-quet/paddle and a whiffle ball. Scarecrow Festival – September 22We’ll arrive at Emma Krumbee’s in Belle Plaine and enjoy a delicious baked chicken dinner with mashed po-tatoes and gravy, vegetable, cranberry sauce, dinner roll and beverage. Fol-lowing our meal, walk to the bakery, general store, orchard and festival grounds. The annual Scarecrow Festi-val began as a small community activ-ity that has expanded into an attrac-tion that now draws visitors from the around the Midwest. You are able to walk through the field featuring over a hundred hand crafted scarecrows. Admission to the festival includes a wagon ride into the orchard to pick apples, pumpkins and possibly straw-berries. Green Lake Boat Cruise – October 11We head west to the Willmar area for an early lunch at the Oak Restaurant where you will enjoy a wonderful meal in a picturesque location nestled between two lakes on Eagle Creek Golf Course. After lunch we’ll make a short trip to beautiful Green Lake and board our houseboat for a relaxing cruise in the climate controlled cabin. Apples, Wine and Chocolate –November 3Since 1948 the Aamodt family has nurtured the finest apples and invited you to turn back time and sample the good life at their picturesque quaint apple farm. See 1880’s barns, granary, apple storage and preparation barns, and bakery. Taste award-winning local wines, grown and vinted right at the orchard. Lunch is at the Lowell Inn, better known as the “Mt. Vernon of the Midwest”. There will be time to look at some of the guestrooms in

this lush and elegant hotel furnished in 19th and 20th century style. Lunch is their signature chicken ala king, vegetables, small dessert and bever-age. Off Leash Dog Parks Want to give your canine buddy a chance to socialize with other dogs and run in a large, safe, enclosed area? New Hope has seasonal dog parks in three city parks for just that purpose.

New Hope has off-leash dog areas in Civic Center Park (44th and Xylon) and Lions Park (38th and Oregon), and recently opened an off-leash area in Liberty Park (60th and Gettysburg) on a trial basis. The off-leash areas are located in the hockey enclosures at each park.

The dog parks are free and may be used during daylight hours only. Pet owners are responsible for controlling and pick-ing up after their dogs. Dogs must remain on-leash until they enter the dog park enclosure. Read all of the rules posted at the dog park entrance. Call 763-531-5151 for more details.
