New Hope News October 1,2015
October 4, 2015
World Communion Sunday was established in the early 1940”s. This celebration at
the Lord’s table has expressed the solidarity of our faith with other Christ centered organi-zations from around the world . It is a sign of hope and the oneness found in Jesus Christ.
Be sure and make your way to church on October 4th to proclaim with others that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Bring a friend—bring your neighbor.
As New Hope looks to the horizon of closing one year and moving into a new year, our Stewardship Committee is making preparations for a new season of Nurturing, Connecting and Serving. The Com-mittee will meet immediately following worship on October 4th. Committee members should make eve-ry effort to be present.
The year 2015 is rapidly moving towards con-clusion. As we look to the possibilities and op-portunities presented by a new year—2016, we are beginning our work and preparations for securing our leadership. The nominating com-mittee is beginning to explore the potential found within our congregation. The church has ALWAYS been dependent on the individuals to get the “JOB DONE”. If you have suggestions for Elder, Diaconate Member, Trustee, or Team Leader, please pass the suggestion on to one of the Nominating Committee members. They are; Charlie Norton, Sylvia Lee, Austin Turner and Chairman - Patricia Johnson. Eugene Earsom Board Chair, along with Rev. Chambers are ex-officio members.
Angels have arrived at NEW HOPE! That’s right! If you have every wondered about the activities of angels or you wanted to know the difference be-tween cherubs and guardian angels this is your op-portunity to explore the biblical references to an-gels in both the Old and New Testaments. Maybe you have wondered where “Lucifer” came from, well this is your opportunity to learn more about angels. For the next several weeks we will spend Wednesday N the Word. You will be able to at-tend the morning session at 11A.M. or the evening session at 6 P.M. (sessions will last 1 hour)
It is never to late to learn about the Heavenly Hosts…..See you Wednesday!

Annual
Ladies of the Evening CWF
Fundraiser Luncheon
It’s almost that time again! Time for Trunk or Treat! And this year New Hope will be adding something new
to the festivities…..Car-nival Games. That is games for the trick-or-treaters to play between the trunks!
How cool is that? Decorate your car, wear a costume and/or oversee a game! There are instructions for mak-
ing simple games on the bulletin board in the narthex. There are also sign-up sheets so the Evangelism Com-
mittee will know how many Trunks and Games we will have. So be sure to sign up!
Trunk or Treat will be on Halloween:
Sunday, October 31st from 3:00-7:30p.m.
Plan now to be a part of this fun night. Games and prizes and treats! Oh, My!

Movie
Night
New Hope has had a first! First ever Outdoor Family Movie Night. The evening was perfect. We had
excellent weather. Citronella tiki torches surrounded the perimeter of the viewing area so we had little bug interference. Freshly popped popcorn and a se-
lection of beverages were available FREE of charge. Many brought their lawn chairs and others brought their blankets. Marco's Pizza graciously provided a
discount on food purchase just for the event. Joe Du-ran outdid himself by constructing a giant screen made of PVC pipe and canvas. Ghostbusters was
shown in all its splendor in the great outdoors. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially to Fellowship and Recreation for making this hap-
pen. Everyone had a blast!

Annual Cleveland County
C.R.O.P Walk
2:00p.m. Sunday, October 18th
Walk if you can—if you can’t walk, then sponsor a walker. In the last 25 years, CROP Hunger Walks have raised more than $300 million to help people strug-gling to feed their families—both around the world and around the corner. In fact, 25 percent of the funds raised by CROP Hunger walks benefit the communities where they take place by supporting local food banks, pantries, community gardens and other hunger-fighting initiatives.

New Hope Children Fundraising efforts for
CROP Walk The children of New Hope Christian Church have begun their annual fundraising efforts to raise money for the Cleveland County CROP Walk. Each child has re-ceived a medium bag which holds an empty 1 1/2 quart jar with a lid. The way we fundraise for this organiza-tion is by collecting change, pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Monies are to be collected and stored in the jar. When it's time to collect and count the monies, the kids will bring their collection to church. Their name will be written on the jar lid and counted. The child that collects the most change will receive a special prize. The change is taken to a local bank to be counted and exchanged for cash bills. As a group, the children and their families are invited to participate in the CROP Walk event which takes place on October 18, 2015. What an incredibly worthy cause and the perfect way to demonstrate to the children a way to care for others by giving a little bit of what we have, pooling our resources so that someone can have a better life. Join us won't you? You can help by donating your change to any New Hope child to help in this worthy cause. LITTLE CHANGE + LITTLE EFFORT = BIG CHANGE FOR Children’s
