A teacher at the local high school found T.L.O and her friend smoking cigarettes in the bathroom.

Then the teacher took them to the principal. The principal looked in her purse and found a pack of cigarettes and rolling paper, which is associated with weed.

Then he continued to search the purse and found a pipe, weed, a lot of money and a list of students who owed her money.

They took it court saying that the search of her purse wasn’t legal and violated the 4th and 14th amendment.

The court said that it didn’t violate any of the amendments because the school officials had special rights on school property.

They also said that the rolling paper that the principal saw gave them probable cause to search the rest of the purse.

This case has shown that while on school property, students lose some of their rights because the school has different rights than the government.
