    1. We congratulate you or accepting thechallenge o discipling new believers using NewLie in Christ as your guide. The resultso this study can produce eternal ruit.

    2. Let the Bible always be your authority inanswering the questions. The students should look

up the Bible passages by themselves and try toanswer the questions based on what the Bible says.

Some who have not studied the Bible beore mightneed a brie orientation on how to fnd the reer-ences in their Bibles.

    3. This manual may be used in many dierent ways.In most cases, you will study one lesson a week, encouraging the disciple to do all the assignmentsin each lesson.

    4. Try not to let your sessions get too long.

    5. Encourage the students to answer thequestions in their own words instead o copyingrom the Bible word or word. Usingtheir own words will help them to analyzethe meaning o the texts studied.

    6. Avoid preaching. Use questions to discover whatthe students understand and to stimulate activeparticipation.

    7. Prepare well or each session yoursel. As theteacher, you should be amiliar with the content

and key concepts o each lesson.

Your preparation should include prayer or yourstudents and or your own heart.

    8. Try to have the students think about thepractical implications or their lives. Help them tounderstand specifc, practical applications.

When you see the STOP sign, pauseto meditate on the questions you fndthere.

Have the students make use o theassignments at the side o each lesson.

    9. Help students cultivate the habit o prayer. Teach

them by praying together with them.

    10. It is important to understand that discipleship ismuch more than studying the lessons o thesemanuals. Discipleship implies a lie change or thedisciple.

This manual is just an initial step. The students willneed continual help as they seek to change theircharacter, ways o thinking, habits, etc.

    11. It is o the utmost importance that disciples learnhabits like daily Bible reading, prayer,

    and Scripture memorization.

Do not scold students who have not completedsome o the assignments, but be sure to encouragethem to fnish.

12 Be sensitive to what God is doing in the studentslie. Take time out o each session to answer anyquestions they might have, or to help with acingproblems in their personal lie.

    13. Sometimes you will not have time to answer everyquestion, so learn to pick the most important ones

    to discuss.

    14. When you fnish this manual, encourage thestudent to continue studying the NEW LIFE INCHRISTseries which can be downloaded atwww.NewLieDiscipleship.com

    Jesus, the Lamb of God

    True or False?

_____ In Biblical times they used a lamb as a sacrifce or sin

_____ the Bible says that Christ was led like a lamb to the slaughter.

_____ In order to enter heaven, you must have your name written in theLambs book o lie.

    SACRIFICE

    1. John called Jesus the ________ o God, who takes away the _____ o the world. John 1:29

In order to understand the signifcance o the phrase lamb o God we must return to the OldTestiment where the Jews oered a lamb as a sacrifce or their sins (Leveticuls 4:32). When theywere enslaved in Egypt, God sent ten plagues to convince Pharoah to let the Israelites go. The lastplague was the death o the frstborn son o each household in Egypt. In order to save their sons, theJews sacrifced a lamb and sprinkled the blood on the doorposts o their homes. (Exodus 12:1-13).

    2. Since the days o Adam, mankind has been enslaved by sin. What was the price paid to rescue us? Gold orsilver? No! According to 1 Peter 1:18-19 the price was much higher. Verse 19 says that we were rescuedrom our empty way o lie with the precious ___________ o Christ, a _________ without blemish or deect.

1 Peter 2:24 explains that he bore our ____________ in his body on the cross. We didnt have to pay any-thing to be ransomed rom sin; but or Christ, the price couldt have been higher. It cost him everything.

    3. Isaiah 53:3-7 presents Christ as the Lamb o God. He gave his lie or us, yet how was he treated? v. 3

_______________________________________________________________ In all o world history, there hasnever been a greater example o love and sacrifce than that o Jesus. Even so, his sacrifce was ignored orrejected by the majority. Are things any dierent today? ____________. Nothing has really changed, the

world keeps on rejecting him. Some sco, others are indierent, and the majority doesnt believe. And you, how are you treating Jesus today? ______________________________________________________

    4. Why was Jesus bruised and wounded ? Isaiah 53: 5 ________________________________________________

    5. Verse 6 describes sin as the tendency to __________________________________________________________

Sheep tend to wander in search o pasture, and i let alone will stray rom their shepherd, get lost and fndthemselves in trouble. Sin is not just open rebellion against God, it is seeking our will instead o His. Whenwe go our own way, it may look like we are doing fne, but later we will fnd ourselves completely lost. Ourpath leads us to make poor decisions, reect unhealthy attitudes, and act inappropriatly.

A little girl named Liz was suering rom a rare and seriousdisease. Her only chance o recovery appeared to be a bloodtransusion rom her 5-year old brother, who had miracu-lously survived the same disease and had developed the an-tibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explainedthe situation to her little brother, and asked the boy i hewould be willing to give his blood to his sister.

He hesitated or only a moment beore taking a deep breathand saying, Yes, Ill do it i it will save Liz. As the transu-

sion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled,as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Thenhis ace grew pale and his smile aded. He looked up at thedoctor and asked with a trembling voice, Will I start to dieright away? Being young, the boy had misunderstood thedoctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister allo his blood. Yet he willingly submittedto the procedure anyway. In this lesson

we will look at another sacrifce, thegreatest in world history.2

After a while one of the shep-herds called out, Men-ah! men-ah! the Arabic for follow me.All of his sheep left the commonherd and followed him up thehillside. The next shepherd didthe same, and his sheep fol-lowed him -- without his evenbothering to count them.

The traveler asked the remainingshepherd if he could put on his

shepherds cloak and take hiscrook, to see if they would fol-low him. He did this and calledout, Men-ah! men-ah! Not onesheep followed him. They didntknow his voice.

Will your ock never followanybody but you? he askedthe shepherd, to which the manreplied, Oh, yes; sometimes asheep gets sick, and then he willfollow anyone.3

or or condemnation? Yes No I dont know

It is not sufcient to know there will be a resurrection; we must believe. As we saw in John 11:25-26, those who believe in Jesus will never die.

    9. 1 Corinthians 15:55 says Where, oh death, is your victory?. WhileGod says there is victory over death, some o your riends deny it.

How can we be sure we will be raised to eternal lie and not tocondemnation?

Should we be concerned i the majority o our riends do not believe inChrist, or i they are indierent to his promises? Why?

    A curious story...

A little girls mother had just dressed her inher best outt because they were expectingspecial visitors that day. Busy with all thepreparations, she left her daughter afterwarning her not to get her clothes wetplaying with the water in the laundry roomas she loved to do.

The water however was too big of a tempta-tion and quickly forgetting the warning shebegan to play in the sink. While playing, she heard someone knocking at the doorbut while heading inside she noticed thatthe edge of her dress was all wet.

Oh no! Mommy is going to punish me forplaying in the water! What can I do? Herlittle mind began to formulate a plan. Shegrabbed a pair of scissors and cut off thewet part of her dress. Content with herwork, she said to herself. Now Mommywont know I got my dress wet.

    Some truths about our lawyer.:

He is just. He doesnt win with legal tricks or maneuvering that distortsthe truth. He cannot be bribed, nor does he use lies.

Christ defends guilty clients. Without him, we would have no defense orhope of triumph.

Jesus defends us alone before God, without calling us to testify. Whatcould we possibly say in our defense since we are without excuse?

The devil accuses us continually before the father. (Rev. 12:10-12). Jesusrefutes the accusations with his blood which paid the price of our guilt.

He doesnt proclaim our innocence, but rather admits our guilt. He arguesthat the debt has already been paid in full by his death.

Ater living a decent lie, my time on earthcame to an end. The frst thing I rememberis sitting on a bench in the waiting roomo what I thought to be a court house. Thedoors opened and I was instructed to comein and have a seat by the deense table.

As I looked around I saw the prosecu-tor. He was a villainous looking gent whosnarled as he stared at me. He defnitelywas the most evil person I have ever seen.I sat down and looked to my let and theresat my lawyer, a kind and gentle lookingman whose appearance seemed amiliar tome. The corner door ew open and thereappeared the judge in ull owing robes. He commanded an awesome presence ashe moved across the room. I couldnt takemy eyes o o him. As he took his seatbehind the bench, he said, Let us begin. The prosecutor rose and said, My name isSatan and I am here to show you why thisman belongs in hell. He proceeded to tell

o lies that I told, things that I stole, andin the past when I cheated others. Satantold o other horrible perversions that wereonce in my lie and the more he spoke, theurther down in my seat I sank. I was soembarrassed that I couldnt look at anyone, even my own lawyer, as the Devil told osins that even I had completely orgottenabout.

As upset as I was at Satan or telling allthese things about me, I was equally upsetat my representative who sat there silentlynot oering any orm o deense at all. Iknow I had been guilty o those things, butI had done some good in my lie - couldntthat at least equal out part o the harm Ivedone? Satan fnished with a ury and said,This man belongs in hell, he is guilty o allthat I have charged and there is not a personwho can prove otherwise.

When it was his turn, my lawyer frst askedi he might approach the bench. The judgeallowed this over the strong objection oSatan, and beckoned him to come orward. As he got up and started walking, I was able

to see him in his ull splendor and majesty. Irealized why he seemed so amiliar. This wasJesus representing me, my Lord and my Sav-ior. He stopped at the bench and sotly saidto the judge, Hi Dad, and then he turnedto address the court. Satan was correct insaying that this man had sinned, I wontdeny any o these allegations. And yes thewages o sin is death, and this man deservesto be punished. Jesus took a deep breathand turned to his Father with outstretchedarms and proclaimed, However, I died on

the cross so that this person might haveeternal lie and he has accepted me as hisSavior, so he is mine. My Lord continuedwith, His name is written in the book o lieand no one can snatch him rom me. Satanstill does not understand yet. This man is notto be given justice, but rather mercy. AsJesus sat down, he quietly paused, lookedat his Father and replied, There is noth-ing else that needs to be done. Ive done itall. The judge lited his mighty hand and

slammed the gavel down. The ollowingwords bellowed rom his lips...

This man is ree. The penalty or him hasalready been paid in ull. Case dismissed.

As my Lord led me away, I could hearSatan ranting and raving, I wont giveup, Ill win the next one. I asked Jesus ashe gave me my instructions where to gonext, Have you ever lost a case? Christlovingly smiled and said, Everyone thathas come to me and asked me to repre-sent them has received the same verdictas you, Paid in Full. 9

BIBLE PASSAGES TO ACCOMPANY EACH LESSON

    Step 1

John 1: 1-41 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was with God in the beginning.

3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.4 In him was lie, and that lie was the light o men.

John 1:1111 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him

John 14:66 Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the lie. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 3:33 In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom o God unless he is born again.

    Ephesians 2:1-5

1 As or you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,2 in which you used to live when you ollowed the ways o this world and o the ruler o the kingdom o the

air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.3 All o us also lived among them at one time, gratiying the cravings o our sinul nature and ollowing its

desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects o wrath.4 But because o his great love or us, God, who is rich in mercy,5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressionsit is by grace you have been saved.

John 3:16-1816 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not per-

ish but have eternal lie.17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already be-

cause he has not believed in the name o Gods one and only Son.

John 1:1212 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children o

    God

    Step 2

John 1:2929 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Look, the Lamb o God, who takes away the sin

    o the world!.

1 Peter1:18-1918 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed rom theempty way o lie handed down to you rom your oreathers,

19 but with the precious blood o Christ, a lamb without blemish or deect.

1 Peter 2:2424 He himsel bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live or righteousness; by his

    wounds you have been healed.

Isaiah 53:3-73 He was despised and rejected by men, a man o sorrows, and amiliar with suering. Like one rom whom

men hide their aces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.4 Surely he took up our infrmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten

    by him, and aicted.

5 But he was pierced or our transgressions, he was crushed or our iniquities; the punishment that brought uspeace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each o us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on himthe iniquity o us all.

7 He was oppressed and aicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, andas a sheep beore her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

Revelation 12:10-1110 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom o

our God, and the authority o his Christ. For the accuser o our brothers, who accuses them beore our Godday and night, has been hurled down.

11 They overcame him by the blood o the Lamb and by the word o their testimony; they did not love theirlives so much as to shrink rom death.

Revelation 21:2727 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameul or deceitul, but only those

whose names are written in the Lambs book o lie.

Revelation 20:1515 I anyones name was not ound written in the book o lie, he was thrown into the lake o fre.

    Step 3

John 10:1-151 I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other

way, is a thie and a robber.

2 The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd o his sheep.3 The watchman opens the gate or him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by nameand leads them out.

4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead o them, and his sheep ollow him because theyknow his voice.

5 But they will never ollow a stranger; in act, they will run away rom him because they do not recognize astrangers voice.

6 Jesus used this fgure o speech, but they did not understand what he was telling them.7 Thereore Jesus said again, I tell you the truth, I am the gate or the sheep.8 All who ever came beore me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and fnd pasture.

10 The thie comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have lie, and have it to theull.

11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his lie or the sheep.12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wol coming, he abandons

the sheep and runs away. Then the wol attacks the ock and scatters it.13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing or the sheep.14 I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Fatherand I lay down my lie or the sheep.

John 10:27-2927 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they ollow me.28 I give them eternal lie, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out o my hand.29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out o my Fathers hand.

    Step 4

Matthew 28:1-61 Ater the Sabbath, at dawn on the frst day o the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to lookat the tomb.

2 There was a violent earthquake, or an angel o the Lord came down rom heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.

3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.4 The guards were so araid o him that they shook and became like dead men.5 The angel said to the women, Do not be araid, or I know that you are looking or Jesus, who was cruci-

fed.6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Acts 1:9-119 Ater he said this, he was taken up beore their very eyes, and a cloud hid him rom their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stoodbeside them.

11 Men o Galilee, they said, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has beentaken rom you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.

Romans 1:44 que ue declarado Hijo de Dios con poder, segn el Espritu de santidad, por la resurreccin de entre los

    muertos,

1 Corinthians 15:12-1312 But i it is preached that Christ has been raised rom the dead, how can some o you say that there is no

resurrection o the dead?13 I there is no resurrection o the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.

1 Corinthians 15:1717 And i Christ has not been raised, your aith is utile; you are still in your sins.

1 Corinthians 15:3232 I I ought wild beasts in Ephesus or merely human reasons, what have I gained? I the dead are not

raised, Let us eat and drink, or tomorrow we die.

John 5:28-2928 Do not be amazed at this, or a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice29 and come outthose who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be

    condemned.

John 11:25-2625 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the lie. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?

Acts 17:30-3230 In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.31 For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given

proo o this to all men by raising him rom the dead.32 When they heard about the resurrection o the dead, some o them sneered, but others said, We want to

hear you again on this subject.

2 Corinthians 4: 14, 1814 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus rom the dead will also raise us with Jesus and

present us with you in his presence.18 So we fx our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is

    unseen is eternal.

    Step 5

Isiah 64:6 All o us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like flthy rags; we all shrivel up

like a lea, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Romanos 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love or us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died or us.

1 John 2: 1-21 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But i anybody does sin, we have one who

speaks to the Father in our deenseJesus Christ, the Righteous One.2 He is the atoning sacrifce or our sins, and not only or ours but also or the sins o the whole world.

1 Timothy 2:5-65 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,6 who gave himsel as a ransom or all menthe testimony given in its proper time.

    Step 6

Luke 1:31-3331 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.32 He will be great and will be called the Son o the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne o his

ather David,33 and he will reign over the house o Jacob orever; his kingdom will never end.

Philippians 2:7-117 It is right or me to eel this way about all o you, since I have you in my heart; or whether I am in chains or

deending and confrming the gospel, all o you share in Gods grace with me.8 God can testiy how I long or all o you with the aection o Christ Jesus.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth o insight,10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day o Christ,11 flled with the ruit o righteousness that comes through Jesus Christto the glory and praise o God.

Matthew 7:2121 Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom o heaven, but only he who does the

will o my Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 13:31-3231 He told them another parable: The kingdom o heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and

planted in his feld.32 Though it is the smallest o all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest o garden plants and becomes

a tree, so that the birds o the air come and perch in its branches.

Matthew 13:45-4645 Again, the kingdom o heaven is like a merchant looking or fne pearls.46 When he ound one o great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

John 3:33 In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom o God unless he is born again.

Matthew 6:3333 But seek frst his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
