Installation The first step to installing any managed solution in Microsoft Dynamics CRM is to locate the file you want to install then

download and place on your computer.

Login to your Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 instance as a System Administrator or System Customizer – Must have

administrative privileges. Navigate to Settings > Solutions and click on Import. The next window that open will let you

browse the solution you are importing – choose the file and click Next.

The next screen that opens up will show the Name / Publisher / Package Type of the solution you are installing. This

should show PowerSurvey from PowerObjects.

Click Next, check the box next to “Activate all processes…” (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT OR THE SOLUTION WILL NOT

EXECUTE CORRECTLY) and select next.

A green progress indicator will display while the solution imports.

Once the solution is done importing, you will see a screen like the one below. The yellow bar along the top indicates that

your solution has imported successfully. Click Close. This whole process can take a few minutes so be patient and let it

finish.

Registration Now that your solution is installed, you will need to configure it to work. Double click on the PowerSurvey solution and

go to the configuration screen shown below.

Enter your contact information

Enter a CRM Login credentials for an account with “System Administrator” role or the new security role “PowerSurvey

User”. Without this, the web based surveys will not be able to read and write information to CRM.

Configuration Next go to the setup tab and change the default values to the following:

Link To Text = message on the button that is displayed once the survey is completed

Link To Website = URL to go to if the button that displays after taking the survey is clicked

SurveyCompleted = message displayed once survey is submitted

SurveyLinkText = Text for the hyper link in your email messages

SurveyTaken = Message displayed if they click on the link and try to take the same survey again

Once you have completed these fields, click Save and close the window.

Security Roles Every use who would like to have access to PowerSurvey will need the PowerSurvey User security role assigned to them.

System Administrators will automatically see PowerSurvey in their left navigation, even without having the security role

assigned.

Survey Mappings Next, refresh you CRM and go to your main workplace window. There you will see the new set of links for PowerSurvey.

Choose Survey Mappings to do the final configurations.

Note: Account, Contact and Lead will already be mapped for you.

Click on Survey Mappings

You will need to specify an Entity Name / Map Name / Map Email address for each mapping.

Survey Banners Once you’ve completed the survey mappings you can upload banners that will be used in your web surveys. These will

be displayed across the top of the web pages when the survey is loaded into the browser.
