SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
1. Today’s feast is the presentation of the Lord also known as Candlemas Day. It is
a celebration of Christ as the light to nations. The Easter Candle is a reminder that
light is with us. It is a candle marked with five nails to carry Christ's wounds. It is a
light that has been passed on for 2000 years, at all baptism celebrations, parents
are handed a candle with the words “Keep the light of faith alive in your hearts”
2. Today’s Gospel has the Night Prayer of God’s People in it, said by the old man
Simeon. “At last all powerful Master, you give leave to your servant to go in peace
according to your promise”
Peace of the Lord is a gift. A nurse who worked in Palliative care records the
biggest regret of the dying in her experience:-
1. Not Being true to myself
2. Working too hard
3. Not having expressed my feelings.
4. Losing touch with friends
5. Not having allowed myself to be happier
LOURDES NOVENA

WORLD DAY FOR THE SICK—11TH FEBRUARY We invite all those that care for the sick and housebound for a special blessing after every Mass on Sunday 9th February. This includes those that work in hospitals, care and nursing homes, Eucharistic Ministers that bring Communion to the sick and the housebound and all those that care for their loved ones.
Novena To Our Lady of Lourdes O Mary you who appeared to Bernadette in the hollow of the rock, in the cold and shadow of winter, you brought the warmth of a presence, the friendship of a smile, the light and beauty of grace. In the hollow of our often obscure lives, in the hollow of this world where evil is strong, bring hope, give more trust. You who said to Bernadette ‘I am the Immaculate Conception’ come to help us, sinners. Give us the courage of conversion, the humility of penitence and the perseverance of praying for sinners, that we are. We confide to you all whom we carry in our heart and especially the sick and those who have lost hope, you who are ‘Our Lady of Good Help’. You who guided Bernadette to discover the spring, guide us towards Him who is the source of eternal life, He who gave us the Holy Spirit so that we can dare say: Our Father……………………………..Hail Mary……………………………... Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. St Bernadette, pray for us. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
