ACCOLADE™ – Is the only clay-free non-aqueous fluid on the market today. ACCOLADEis the premier EPA-compliant synthetic-basedfluid designed to provide stable rheologies overa wide range of temperatures. Costly wholemud losses are common in offshore and thenarrow pore pressure/fracture gradient windowsseen in deepwater environments. The high-performance ACCOLADE system features afragile gel structure that can minimize lossesyet provide excellent suspension to preventbarite sag, even in high-angle wells.
ADAPTA™ – HPHT filtrate reducing agentfor all oil-based and synthetic-based fluidsystems. Extremely effective in lowconcentrations, ADAPTA filtrate reducer canprovide excellent filtration control intemperatures up to 500°F, while enabling thefluid systems to retain excellent cold temperaturetolerance in deepwater environments.
ATC® – (All Temperature Thinner)Environmentally-friendly thinner for ester-based and ester-blend synthetic fluids, designedto work in any temperature environment.Treatment with ATC thinner brings rapid resultsand is especially useful in controllingrheological properties in deepwaterenvironments where fluids may coolsignificantly in the drilling riser.
BARARESIN®-VIS – Oil-soluble viscosifierdesigned for use in water-in-oil emulsionsand all-oil fluid systems used in completingsensitive formations. Using BARARESIN-VIS to provide viscosity in oil-based systemsminimizes the risk of formation damage. All-oil gravel packs can also be viscosified withBARARESIN-VIS.
BAROFIBRE® – Fibrous cellulosic materialdesigned to seal off seepage loss in sands andfractured zones. The seepage loss additivehelps seal fractures so that a filter cake canform on the porous rock. BAROFIBREtreatments are compatible with most water-based and non-aqueous fluid types.BAROFIBRE will not plug downholeequipment and is biodegradable.
BAROLIFT® – Specially treatedmonofilament fiber designed to sweep vertical,high-angle and horizontal wells. BAROLIFTadditions can increase carrying capacitywithout affecting rheological properties andcan be used in water or brines when gellingthe system is not desired. BAROLIFTtreatments have proven especially effective inlifting metal cuttings produced during millingoperations.
BarOmega™ – Environmentally-compliant,membrane-efficient water-based fluid designedas an alternative in drilling applications wherenon-aqueous fluids might be used. TheBarOmega system generates a highly efficientmembrane on the borehole wall to maintainlow water activity. Lab and field data showmembrane efficiencies in the 85-92% range,minimizing water transfer into shale.
BAROTROL® PLUS – Fine-grindhydrocarbon powder designed to stabilizereactive shales, inhibit cuttings dispersion andprovide high temperature high pressure fluidloss control. BAROTROL PLUS is compatiblewith most water-based and oil-based fluidsand is stable up to 325°F. It helps the fluidform a thin, tough wall cake to minimizeinteraction between the shale and the drillingfluids. BAROTROL PLUS can also increaselubricity and reduce torque and drag.
COLDTROL® – Unique thinner designed toachieve manageable cold-temperaturerheologies without affecting properties neededat higher temperatures encountered downhole.COLDTROL thinning agent is speciallyformulated for deepwater drilling and can beadded directly to the system as needed.
CRYSTAL-DRIL™ – Highly inhibitive clearwater fluid system designed to stabilize reactiveshales, increase penetration rates and extend bitlife. A CRYSTAL-DRIL system can be formu-lated with fresh water, brine or produced water.Operators report that the ultra-low solids systemdecreases drilling days and provides a gaugehole, significantly lowering operational costs.
DHAST™ – Dynamic High Angle SettlingTest is a service provided through Baroid’sResearch and Development laboratory thatmeasures the rate of barite settling or “sag” ofa given drilling fluid under dynamic conditions.The fluid is exposed to a wide range of shearrates, temperatures, and pressures to simulatedownhole conditions. The DHAST dynamicmeasurements are essential for designingdrilling fluids that resist or eliminate sagtendencies, a key issue for deepwater drilling.
DrillAheadSM Hydraulics Module –Advanced hydraulics modeling softwareaccurately models downhole pressure drops,changes in equivalent circulating density (ECD)and cuttings loading. Based on fluid properties,pump output, well geometry, and other inputs,DrillAhead h ydraulics helps with planningand drilling by warning of potential problemsand evaluating corrective measures. Itsaccuracy is continuously verified by real-timepressure-while-drilling (PWD) data.
EZ-GLIDE™ – Proprietary surfactant blenddesigned to minimize the lubricity coefficientin water-based fluids by up to 50%. Up to 7%by volume can be added to reduce torque, dragand minimize bit balling. EZ-GLIDE does notoil-wet weighting agents as some lubricantswill do. The impact on rheological propertiesand return permeability are minimal, makingit a good choice for low solids and DRIL-Nfluids applications.
EZ-PLUG™ – Proprietary blend of acid-soluble lost circulation materials designed foruse with DRIL-N fluid systems. The EZ-PLUGblend is compatible with all drilling andcompletion fluids, with a particle sizedistribution designed to address all types oflosses. Using the acid soluble blend canminimize the potential for solids damage tothe formation.
FACTANT™ – Powerful “super-emulsifier”can significantly reduce the need forconventional emulsifiers while providingenhanced HPHT filtration control. No carrierfluid is required as FACTANT is a concentratedmaterial. FACTANT can be added directly todiesel-, mineral- and synthetic-based fluids.FACTANT can reduce the total amount ofemulsifier and fluid loss control productsneeded on location by 50% or more, minimizingtransportation, storage, and treatment issues.
HYDRO-GUARD™ – Highly-inhibitive, clay-free water-based system designed to providean alternative to synthetic-based fluids. TheHYDRO-GUARD system has demonstratedexcellent penetration rates and shale inhibitionin both shelf and deepwater operations.HYDRO-GUARD effectively controls gumboand bit balling, both common problems seenin these environments. Cuttings can bedischarged, reducing drilling costs related tocuttings processing and management.
HYDRO-PLUG™ – Single-sack hydratingcrystallized polymer blend lost circulationmaterial. HYDRO-PLUG works quickly withall types of drilling fluids in a wide range of
severe loss situations, including highly fracturedor depleted formations, cementing and squeezeoperations, and inter-well communication.When applied correctly, HYDRO-PLUG canform a competent seal in about four hoursdepending on bottom hole temperatures.
N-FLOW™ Breakers – Environmentallyfriendly N-FLOW A, N-FLOW AE andN-FLOW AO filtercake breakers are designedto delay reaction to help ensure the breakersare uniformly distributed before they activate.Reaction time can be delayed 10-72 hours,based on downhole temperatures and breakerformulations. “Hot spots” are less likely toform and completion tools can be retrievedin a timely manner, minimizing corrosiondamage risk.
QUIK-FREE™ – Fast-acting spotting fluiddesigned to be compatible with fresh and saltwater drilling fluids. QUIK-FREE requires noadditional additives and can be incorporatedinto the active mud system without adverseeffects on any of the fluid properties. A QUIK-FREE spot has shown significant results 4-6hours after it is placed downhole. IncorporatingQUIK-FREE into the active system can increaselubricity up to 35%.
RHEMOD-L™ – Viscosifier and suspensionagent designed for use in clay-free synthetic-based systems and invert emulsion fluidscontaining organophilic clay. RHEMOD-L canincrease the low shear rate rheologicalproperties, improve the gel strength of invertemulsion drilling fluids, and enhance emulsionstability. It is stable up to 400°F.
STEELSEAL® Fine – Resilient lost circulationmaterial designed to pack tightly into pores andsmall fractures and resist dislodging whendifferential pressures change. The particlesdeform to accommodate the fracture size andshape. STEELSEAL Fine can be added as apretreatment or in pill form. STEELSEAL Fineapplications may also add lubricity to water-based fluids.
STOP-FRAC® D & S – A pelletized lostcirculation material available in fine (D) andcoarse (S) varieties and compatible with alldrilling fluid types. The single-sack, highlyconcentrated product can bridge both seepageand severe loss zones. Free-flowing pellets willnot clog the mud hopper and speeds mixing.Fewer sacks can be used, resulting in lessinventory, less storage space, and reducedtransportation and waste disposal costs.
SWEEP-WATE™ – Patented coarse grindbarite used to formulate high-density sweepsfor cleaning high-angle wellbores. After aSWEEP-WATE sweep is pumped, up to 90%of the coarse SWEEP-WATE can be removedby a 120-mesh shaker so that extra weight isnot incorporated into the active system.SWEEP-WATE sweep provides excellent holecleaning and eliminates the need for dilutionafter pumping a series of sweeps.
TECHMESH™ – Specially designed shakerscreen mesh with a low length-to-width openingratio to improve fine solids removal and extendscreen life. More efficient removal of fine solidsreduces drilling fluid dilution and maintenancecosts. Based on field comparisons, screens with
TECHMESH are more resistant to tears,require fewer replacements, and can last up totwice as long as competitor screens.
TEMPERUS™ – Short-term viscosifierdesigned to provide temporary suspension ofweight material while shipping oil-based andsynthetic-based fluids to location. AddingTEMPERUS to weighted fluid eliminates theneed to add excessive organophilic clay duringperiods when the fluid will have little or noshear, such as during transport or temporarystorage.
XLR-RATE™ – Proprietary blend of syntheticfluids designed to enhance penetration rateswhile drilling with water-based fluids. XLR-RATE can increase lubricity and improvesliding performance during directional drillingoperations. Effective in small concentrations,XLR-RATE can be added directly to the activesystem or used in a sweep or spot treatmentwith minimal impact on drilling fluidproperties.
