Botanical Aquavit

Aquavit is a typical drink from Scandinavia, Aquavit is produced from potatoes. Herbs are added to the

second distillation. Characteristic is the use of caraway and dill seed. Bareksten Aquavit has a golden

color after aging on sherry casks.

Bareksten Aquavit is not only used in the traditional Scandinavian way but is very popular amongst

bartenders to use as twist in (gin) cocktails. Bareksten Aquavit combines very nicely with Ale beers for

meat dishes.

Orange, Citrus oils and dried fruit, caraway, cardamom, coriander, star anise, nuts and vanilla.

Taste

complex flavour of caraway, anise, orange marmalade and liquorice root.

Clear hints of sherry, rosin and with some fresh fruity notes. A full -bodied aquavit with long finish and

where the spice lingers to the end.

Absint

Bareksten Absinth is spirit derived from botanicals with the main characteristics of the flowers and

leaves of Artemisia absinthium ("grand wormwood"), and some medicinal and culinary herbs.

In history absinth had a negative association but it is just misunderstood. A revival of absinthe began

after the European Union removed long-standing barriers to its production and sale.


Old Tom Gin

Old Tom Gin recipe existence since 18th-century. With the resurgence of the "Craft Cocktail" movement

this Gin became popular again. Bareksten Old Tom Gin is slightly sweeter than the Botanical Gin.

Old Tom Gin has more subtle nuances and does not overwhelm with the juniper influence. Traditionally

cocktails as the Martinez or Tom Collins are built with Old Tom Gin.

The name Old Tom Gin purportedly came from wooden plaques shaped like a black cat (an "Old Tom")

mounted on the outside wall of some pubs above a public walkway in 18th -century England. Under the

cat's paw sign was a slot to put money in and a lead tube. From the tube would come a shot of gin,

poured by the bartender inside the pub. The sign may be the first example of a beverage vending

machine.

Bareksten Old Tom Gin has a distinct juniper nose, with earthy aromas and floral notes.

Taste

Pleasant but «spicy», full-bodied with fruity notes and a good lingering aftertaste.

scapes inhabited only by the ‘Hulder’ wood nymphs, who live below ground sur-

rounded by the roots of old oaks. This is where Bareksten takes its inspiration from.

Navy Strength Gin

Navy Strength Gin is gin that is bottled at 57-58%ABV.The origin of Navy strength gin evolved from the

idea of "proof spirits", a term which originated in the 18th Century. At this time, British sailors were

given rations of rum; to ensure that the rum had not been watered down, it was "proved" by dousing

gunpowder in it, then tested to see if the gunpowder would ignite. If it did not, then the rum contained

too much water and was considered to be "under proof".

Bareksten Navy Strength Gin is a tasteful, spicy and full -bodied gin, one with a long and smooth finish

with fruit and spices will linger to the end

Bareksten Navy Strength Gins is fantastic for cocktails as it maintains the typical botanical gin character

even in small quantities. Bareksten Navy Strength is also perfect in Gin & Tonic because the beautiful

taste won’t get watered down.

He is known as one of Norway’s leading distiller

of craft spirits and has received many awards for

previous products he has launched. Bareksten is

known as the founder of Det Norske Brenneri,

where he developed brands such as Arvesølvet,

Harahorn Gin. He is a former Norwegian cham-

pion bartender. He has extensive experience from

the bar industry, both in Norway and abroad,

and he has worked with brands like Macallan

Whisky and The Famous Grouse, among others.

Now Stig Bareksten is head Distiller and master

blender at Oss Craft Distillery, where he is also

producing these new Barekstenproducts.
