WELCOME CLASS OF 2024!Congratulations on your acceptance to Westfield State University!

On behalf of the New Student Orientation Team, it is my privilege to be one of the first people to welcome you to your new community. Our team is looking forward to getting to know you during one of our many New Student Orientation programs.

It is our goal to help you prepare to become a Westfield State Owl. I am confident that during our program, you will have the opportunity to get all your questions answered, make connections with new classmates, and find the tools to be comfortable in your new home away from home.

If you have parents, family members, or other supporters that want to learn more information about our University, please have them check out the Champions Program. This is an orientation program that will introduce them to campus and provide them with important information about how to best support their Westfield State University student.

Given the continued instability regarding COVID-19 predictions, Westfield State University will not be hosting our traditional June Programs. Alternate arrangements have been made to ensure that students still receive a quality welcome to our University. This includes an online orientation course that will need be completed, virtual meetings with Orientation Leader staff, online workshops, and continued support throughout your first semester. Once students return to campus, there will be a series of welcome events designed to officially welcome you to your on campus experience.

Starting June 8th, you will receive information for accessing the Online Orientation Program. This Orientation helps students learn the basics about the University, so that when you are participating in your virtual Orientation Groups this summer, you are more prepared to ask questions and have a basic understanding of what is being discussed.

You can find details about all of our amazing programs online at westfield.ma.edu/NSO.

We are so excited to have you at Westfield State, and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.

High Five!

All students will be assigned an Orientation Leader. These are returning students that will work with you over the summer and through the fall semester to help get you acclimated to your new environment. This summer these fantastic individuals will be in touch with you and will host virtual meetings to continue your orientation experience. There will be time to make connections with other students, college readiness workshop information, and tasks that need to be completed.

IN-PERSON MEETINGSThe in-person program will provide you many opportunities to better understand the culture at Westfield State through:

1. Connecting with your Academic Departments and Colleges

2. Getting acclimated to your new surroundings

3. Attending workshops presented by University Staff

4. Participating in specialty programs of your choice

Once a final schedule has been set, our staff will be in touch through your Orientation Leaders and through your University Email.
