    Stewardship

“STEWARDING OUR GIFTS: GO IN PEACE, GLORIFYING THE LORD BY YOUR LIFE” Is it always necessary for God to do big, grandiose things in order to get our attention? Sometimes it seems that way. But in both the first reading and the Gospel today, God was not found in the fires, earthquakes, or winds. Instead, He was found in the quiet calm that followed the calamities. As Christian stewards, let’s apply this to our lives. Glorifying God with our lives does not always mean doing seemingly impossible things that change the world! Sometimes it simply means being the calm in the storm. Allow your life to reflect the peace that we experience in the presence of the Lord!

HARVEST HOUSE Will meet Thursday, August 17 at 8:00 am Mass here at St. Francis. After Mass we will have breakfast at Spears. Call John at 722-7611 if you have any questions or for more information.

SAFETY-NET CLINIC The Guadalupe Clinic will celebrate Safety-Net Clinic Week this Sunday through Saturday, August 13-19. Safety Net Clinic Week is an annual, week-long celebration that highlights the innovative community-based health care that gives Kansans in need the chance to lead healthy, productive lives. Safety net clinics provide health care to about 1 in 10 Kansans. The Guadalupe Clinic, a diocesan donation-based health clinic, has ministered to the community for 32 years. The generosity of the clinic’s patrons helped the ministry with 7,696 patient visits during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Patients receive doctor’s care and other medical assistance, such as lab tests, X-rays, and medication, all for a requested $5 donation. As part of the celebration the patients and staff of the clinic thanks those who support the clinic for their gifts of time, talent, and treasure. “God bless you all for providing health care for those in our community that would go without if it were not for Guadalupe Clinic,” For more information about the clinic and its services, visit www.guadalupeclinic.com or call (316) 264-8974.

No prior theological or philosophical background is required. For more information, contact Jerry Pates (SFA) at 722-8856 or Dick Landkamer at 796-4718. To sign up for the class, email [email protected]. Detailed information can be found on the class blog at http://dicklandkamer.wordpress.com/.
