Over 40 folks participated in the April 15 meeting.

Did you know that Division 8 has one of the largest memberships in all of the NMRA?

Summertime Pursuit Oakland, MI: As the weather is improving and as more people will want to enjoy the great

outdoors, how about taking along your camera and snapping a few photos trackside?

I find the experience akin to being with nature, with the birds, the bees, the deer, and sounds of prime movers and air horns.

Why don’t YOU try it? Bill Gawthrop

Guinness Record Commerce, MI: Chi-town the record for the longest train. The winner included 1205 cars and 26 locomotives for the newest Guinness World Record. D. Lewis, among others was an official witness.

Cedar Swamp Depot Sinks Troy, MI: Maybe some are saying that the Cedar Swamp Depot actually stinks! In any event, there were no entries for this quarter’s model of the quarter event. A poll of members present was taken, and it was decided to continue the Model of the Quarter contest another quarter.

Let’s build one for your AP Structures award.

See article below for the next model.

SHOW & TELL Meeting participants presented a wide array of items during show and tell. The topic was anything Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Of course, current projects were also fair game. Roger Terey offered an HO scale 86’ Hi-Cube auto boxcar (product of Athearn).

Rick Ware brought in 2 Athearn, HO scale Chessie / B&O bay window cabooses each with a safety slogan.

Saul Kalbfeld shared a current project, the HO scale WKLO Radio Station. He built the model from Foscale Kit #100. This is the modernized version with custom designed “45” sign on the side. Per Saul, the timeframe is 1962.

Jim Tilley, visitor from Division 6, brought in a brass HO scale B&O Class Q-4b 2-8-2 by Westside. This model comes with an auxiliary tender.

Dave Thornton shared plans for a new industrial and yard area for the Detroit Model Railroad Club. The new portion of the layout will be built over the old projection booth area at the club’s former Holly, Michigan theater building.

Mark Mincek brought a beautifully decorated HO scale brass B&O Class EM-1, 2-8-8-4. The B&O was allocated these articulated locomotives by the (WW-II) War Production Board instead of new EMD FT diesels.

Rad Jones shared photos and articles about the Presidents of the U.S. riding the railroads. Rad

pointed out that this information can be difficult to find as any photos of presidents belong to the respective presidents. Therefore, the available sources of information

including photographs are historical records and the various government archives.

Joel Goldberg has been scratch building street lights and lamp posts in HO scale. Here are a couple examples displayed outside of Joel’s hardware store.
