The best solution is often a combination of two or three of the condition monitoring tools, but it depends very much on the type of your condition monitoring equipment you have in use, the criticality of that equipment, the running conditions (speed, rpm, temperature ...) of your equipment, and how perceptive your organization is to training.

Condition based maintenance & repairs are an integral part of a modern marine vessel. For this an effective condition monitoring is the basis and allows to implement optimal maintenance intervals and to prevent costly down time and damages.
Therefore it is imperative to have the right equipment on board from the get-go to maintain & protect the new and valuable machinery, equipment and systems. It makes sense to think about the correct equipment for the operation & condition monitoring of your vessel already during the planning phase to have it ready for the maiden voyage. Especially because some of it is needed to complywith rules & regulations.
Few years ago it has been common practice to supply all newbuildings with the same initial supply. Nowadays the cost pressure in the marine industry makes an individually selected initial supply a necessity. The developments in the field of condition monitoring have been rapid and measuring systems which have been invaluable a few years ago are now obsolete and can be replaced with more cost effective systems. On the other hand an increasing number of rules & regulations demands certainmeasuring & monitoring systems to be present on board or at least makes the purchase a reasonable choice.

The bunker sample collection and storage is defined in MEPC.96(47). In the guidelines it is defined that a retained sample of all fuel oil as supplied, is drawn at the ships receiving manifold, sealed, signed and then retained under the ship’s control until the subject fuel has been substantially consumed, but for at least 12 months from the date of delivery.
Fuel samplers use disposable ‘cubitainers’. These hold the oil sample before mixing and transfer to the sample bottles and keep out all external contamination.
CMT produce a range of HDPE(translucent) and PET (clear) samplebottles for fuel oil and lubricants.They are designed to allow oil samplingof warm oils direct from the equipment.Sample Bottles are supplied in followingsizes:• 1000 ml• 500 ml• 120 ml• 50 ml

Density is especially important for ships burning heavy fuel oil since the density can vary a lot. The density is used to confirm the quantity and grade of fuel delivered. • Ensure the correct amount and grade
of fuel has been delivered to your ship.
• Ensure you have been supplied with fuel and not a mixture from fuel and gas (cappuccino effect)
The Density Meter is supplied complete with four hydrometers. Density is measured at 50°C and directly shown converted to 15°C, giving fast, accurate results. No calculation is needed.
Oil Condition Monitoring
With the CMT Cat Fines Test Kit you are capable of determining the concentration of catalytic fines in fuel. The device can be used for various measurements such as :• determining the content of catalyst
fines during delivery, evaluation of the effectiveness of the separator
• determining the content of catalyst before injection.
Thus malfunctions as well as wear of the engine can be controlled.
The Heated Viscosity Meter can measure viscosity at 40, 50 or 80 °C and can correct to 40 or 50°C. It also allows to measure the viscosity with pin point accuracy.
CMTs Marine Fuel and Lube Test Cabinet is the easiest way of storing all relevant testing solutions. Various options are available.

The CMT Peak Pressure Indicator is an easy, fast and cost effective way to maintain your diesel engines.It measures the maximal firing pressure and the compression pressure of two and four stroke combustion engines.
The Dieselscope system consists of ahandheld unit, a cylinder pressure sensorconnected to the indicator valve of thecylinder being measured, and an optional optical or inductive pick-up(s) fitted on the flywheel. It is easy-to-use and very intuitive thanks to the single function buttons. The large internal memory allows the measurement and recording of up to 1200 zylinders. The supplied software allows the export to any PC and an evaluation of the results.
The Diesel Indicator is a portable unit that monitors the combustion process of diesel engines. It allows you to tune the engine and detect faults or irregularities in their early developing stages.
The Torque Meter itself consists of twometal tapes with magnetic pattern, twosensors and a transmitter. The sensors are mounted rotation-free on beams. A 4-20 mA signal, proportional to the shaft torque in % of the MCR value is averaged by a preset number of up to 255 consecutive revolutions. Shaft power is calculated by torque and RPM. We are one of the largest manufacturers of Ultrasonic cleaning equipment for onboard use. Our range of ultrasonic baths and submersible ultrasonic transducers are all designed, manufactured and tested in our factory in Germany. To ensure we meet our customers requirements CMT is offering the Ultrasonic Baths in different sizes as well as offering the transducers as single items for fitting into existing baths. Our ultrasonic cleaning tanks come in sizes from a 20 litre bath up to 370 litre bath.
Submersible Transducers for existing tanks are available.
Over the past, CMT’s precision ultrasonic cleaning systems have been incorporated on many seagoing vessels all over the world.
