The Type R philosophy is not about building the most powerful, or fastest car for straight line

performance. It's about creating a car that provides a well-engineered, but exciting driving

experience better than available elsewhere! To offer this, every Type R needs to have certain key

characteristics: Racing pedigree, pure lightweight focus on handling with no unnecessary weight

or equipment. Going fast is part of the Type R experience, but not everything. Equipped with

double wishbone suspension, the Type R has very strong levels of handling in addition to

performance in gear change quality, braking, steering and handling. Also of course, there's the

engine - Much like a racing unit even in standard tune. 185 bhp from a 1.6 litre engine is one of the

highest specific power outputs of any n/a production car ever made!

Because of the above attiributes, styling and driving dynamics, the EK9 Type R is considered by

many Honda enthusiasts as the ultimate Civic. Make no mistake - this is a far superior driver's car

than the UK built EP3 Civic Type R. The Japanese have never really got to grips with the EP3, but

have done extensive work in producing tuning parts to make this serious pocket rocket even more

balistic... This is the wildest FWD N/A car ever made and was only officially sold in Japan from

1997-2000. No other countries received this top machine. This is a facelift model complete with

updated headlights, front and rear bumpers, ABS, Dual SRS airbags and remote controlled door

mirrors with retract model.

Powered by an exclusively-developed 1.6-liter DOHC VTEC B16B engine that makes 185 bhp at

8,200 rpm, this little pocket rocket accelerates from 0-60 in just 5.7 seconds (Honda original

figures)! The lightweight B16B engine also features a valve system allowing higher engine speeds

than the B18 Type R engine (In the DC2 Type R Integra models), reduced engine friction,

body rigidity, reduced weight, double wishbone sports suspension, torque-sensitive helical LSD,

sports-tuned ABS, forged alloy wheels (Shod with near new Potenza RE-01 sports tyres in this

case!). The special colour of Championship White celebrates Hondas first victory in F1.

This example is one of the last EK9's made! A 2000 (May) Civic Type R 1,600cc DOHC V-Tec.

EK9. Honda Racing White. 5 Speed Manual. Equipment includes: ABS, Dual SRS Airbags with

Momo Steering Wheel, Carbon finish interior trim and dash surround, Air Conditioning, Power

Steering, Power Mirrors with retract mode, Fitted Mats, Privacy Glass on the rear, Rear Spoiler,

Original alloy wheels, double wishbone suspension, etc. Seats are original Recaro reclinable items

& are in near new condition. Sabelt 4 point harnesses are fitted, although these have only been

added for cosmetic purposes. Exhaust has been uprated with a 4 branch manifold to release more

power and a J's Racing exhaust system. These are the only modifications the car carries. It's

abundantly clear from the way it drives, it's never been pushed hard. No stone chips on the

bonnet's original paint, no scratches to the rims, no pin dents or paintwork on panels, brakes &

suspension feels like new, etc. sums it up as a very, very well cared for EK9!

The car is of auction grade 4 (Auction sheet available). Condition is outstanding. Interior has no

faults to report aside from minor wear to the driver's seat bolsters and dirt. This will come up like

near new once valetted. Driver's floor mat will also be cleaned, but is discoloured from use. Note

this has been a non smoker's car since new. Exterior's been beautifully kept, with no faults at all to

report, aside from one tiny pin dent on the passenger door! This will be professionally removed

through the services of a dent removal specialst in UK. This is an immaculate concours condition

car! Engine bay is similarly in excellent condition. An oil change has been recently carried out.

We are especially pleased with the quality of this Civic Type R - It's as perfect condition as we

have come across, with genuine well looked after mileage.

Test driving this EK9 once properly warmed up, the engine pulled very & eagerly especially from

5,800 rpm onwards, when the V-Tec comes on almost all the way to 9,000 rpm!! Clutch is good,

with plenty of wear remaining. The brakes work well - with no drama from warped discs or any

signs of abuse in the past. Essentially this looks and drives like a new car!

With fuel prices now set high and expected to stay that way - there's never been a wiser time to

own a Type R. Giving economy when needed, with power in abundance when the mood takes

(1). Starting with your inquiry, we provide a quote or e-mail communication, so that

we are clear on just what you are after. We ask for detailed information from you, so

we can provide an accurate quotation from the beginning. If you are inquiring about a

car from stock, steps (2) and (4) are not required.

(2). When sourcing to order, our quotation is based on your requirements. As long as

your budget is sufficient for the car youre after & the car is likely to be available, we

will be prepared to find the car you order, or better. Remember: even if you budget

too much, it doesnt matter. We operate a system of supplying the best car we can

find, plus a set fee of £900. If we can buy your car for a low price, then you make the

corresponding saving.

(3). When you are ready to proceed, we ask for a deposit (& completed order form, if

applicable). The deposit is usually £1,000. If you want a car worth over £10K OTR,

then the deposit is £1,500. The deposit is fully refundable without question, should

you for any reason need to cancel before a car is bought on your behalf. If you are

reserving a car from stock the deposit is refundable less costs and time incurred

provided you cancel 4 working days before shipment from Japan.

(4). Miguel, our buyer keeps you informed via e-mail periodically whilst searching

for your car. Sometimes it can take weeks, even months to find the right car. In

addition to Miguel attending the major Tokyo auctions daily, we have buyers

searching daily throughout Japan for the car you want. No news simply means we

havent found it yet. We dont buy the first car which comes along. It must meet or

exceed your requirements whilst not costing more than the OTR price we agreed,

though it frequently costs less.

(5). As soon as available, we will e-mail you up to 30 detailed photographs, showing

all aspects of your car. We also include a detailed description. Of course, total OTR

price is known at this stage, so we let you know. Cars are insured from the time

theyre bought, to the time they are completed & collected by you in UK.

(6). Usually, boats are available every 2-3 weeks, from Japan to UK (Southampton).

How the Newera System Works

We arrange for your car to be shipped on the first vessel available. Around the time

the car is shipped, we ask for the second instalment. Typically this is approximately

60% of the cars OTR total cost. Note that the car we supply to you is fully insured at

all times prior to you collecting it.

(7) We arrange booking of the SVA test in advance - shortly after the car departs, so

that the car can be tested as soon as possible upon arrival to UK. We also inform our

UK agent of your full contact details and information on everything which needs doing,

to make sure the car wil be presented in beautiful condition.

(8). Shipping takes 5 weeks. Around 2 weeks before arrival, we ask you for the final

instalment, to cover Import duties, VAT, shipping, UK conversions, testing,

registraton etc.

(9). Before the car arrives, we arrange customs clearance, etc. so the car neednt

spend un-necessary time waiting at the docks upon arrival. It usually takes 3-4 days

for cars to be unloaded and cleared by UK customs.

(10). The car is sent from Southampton to our UK agents premises in Canterbury

aboard a car transporter. Upon arrival there, it is SVA converted, derestricted, SVA

tested & MOTd (If applicable).

All minor cosmetic work required (e.g. bumper scratches) is carried out. The car is

fully valetted just before you collect it.

(11). The car comes with 6 months road tax and is fully registered in your name as

the first UK keeper. If you have a suitable private number plate youd like to go on the

car, we can also arrange this, provided you have a DVLA retention certificate.
