4. Analysis of Student Achievement through May 2013
We have analyzed our student experiences, Discovery Education Assessment Data, the
District’s 9 weeks data, and reviewed with our teachers their observations in the classroom. We have
used the base-line data from the beginning of the year and compared it to our second and third
Discovery Education tests in December, as well as our classroom data. Each of our Academy
teachers and departments has collaborated on strategies and methods based on this data to support
cross-disciplinary studies and identify areas for remediation and tutoring in preparation for the FCAT.
All but one of our students tested in all areas. Though testing is complete, there still remains work to
be done. We are continuing to offer multiple tutoring sessions after school and during lunch.

Analysis and Strategies: Our students improved their Literary Analysis. Information has supplanted Literary Analysis as the focal point. It appears the targeted tutoring has paid dividends for some students. We are pairing our level 1 and 2 students with our higher level students to encourage peer tutoring/learning. We have also provided specific FCAT tutoring to our students multiple times per week to improve our student successes.

Analysis and Strategies: Our analysis indicates that our Science students struggle in the areas of Change
Matter, however we improved in Scientific Thinking. Using the Discovery data, teachers will incorporate a
focus on these areas in their lesson plans and one to one/small group instruction. We are also offering tutoring
twice weekly with specific focus on FCAT tested standards.
