HEALTH

Take Time for Mental Health and Wellness Week

Oct 8th – Oct 11th

Thank you to all our staff, students

and sponsors who supported and

participated in our ‘Take Time for

Mental Health and Wellness Week

at the RSC Senior Campus. Our

focus was on the 6 key steps

towards optimal mental health:

Be Active, Take Notice, Care, Keep Learning, Give and Connect.

Our staff received a gift delivered into their pigeon holes by students

to say thank you for all their work, all thanks to Roma Office Choice. It

was fantastic to see our students and staff enjoy being active in our

Staff verses Students netball and touch football games. Our BBQ,

cooked by our student leaders promoted giving and connecting, as

staff and students enjoyed a free lunch sponsored by Queensland

Country Meats and Bakearoma. Susie Klein ran craft through the

breaks where students took time out

with each other and learnt how to work

with wool. On Friday students enjoyed

watching a performance by our

talented and fit Ripper Skippers. Here

at Roma State College we all belong to

a vibrant culture which promotes good

mental health through authentic connections and a shared value that

our staff, students and families are important.

Celebrate OT Week, 21 – 27 October 2019 Occupational Therapy Week celebrates the contribution of occupational therapists working within our state schools. Our occupational therapists work with teachers and teacher aides, other professionals, parents and students. They support schools to make reasonable adjustments that enable students with disability to be at school and learn. Occupational therapists assist students to participate in the full range of school life including learning, joining in co-curricular activities, playing, interacting with others and looking after themselves at school. To read about OT services in state schools, visit https://education.qld.gov.au/students/students-with-disability/specialist-staff/occupational-therapy or speak to your child’s teacher or principal. During Occupational Therapy Week, we celebrate the contribution of occupational therapists working in state schools across Queensland. Collaborating with staff, parents and students, our occupational therapists enable students to participate in the full range of school life.
