While NOT confirmed as of the deadline for this newsletter, a public hearing has been scheduled for August 9 at the Harris County Public Library NW Branch. Remember we have strength in numbers – so please, get involved! Spring Board News The Steeplechase Board held three regular meetings this Spring including an Open Residents meeting on May 1 st . A few homeowners attended the residents meeting to discuss the fence project, clubhouse vandalism and general security concerns. The greenbelt fence project continued to be a major focus of the Board with Directors meeting individually with many of the homeowners along the greenbelt. The Board also put out to bid, approved and installed a surveillance system for the entire community center, oversaw completion of pool projects and continued leading the effort to oppose a proposed low income housing project on Steepleway Boulevard at Steeplepark Drive. In mid-July the developer proposing these apartments agreed to meet with residents at our clubhouse. As of the writing of this newsletter the Board is enlisting the support of other area associations to ensure a good turnout at this meeting. At this time, although we have not received official notification, the state has scheduled a public hearing on August 9 at 6pm at the Harris County Public Library NW Branch, 11355 Regency Green Drive. Watch the marquee and log on to the Steeplechase website for more information. Regular meetings of the Board are held the first Monday of the month at 7pm at the clubhouse. Quarterly Open Residents are held the first Monday of February, May, August and November at 7pm at the clubhouse with a Board meeting immediately following. Quick Reminders Please push trash out the evening before or day of trash collection and pick up empty barrels the same day. Any exterior modification to your property must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee. Call PCMI @ 281-870-0585. School starts in August 16th - Watch for Children. Pool News Due to the hardware failure of our pool ID computer all old ID cards must be “scanned in” to be activated. If you renewed by mail and haven’t yet had your cards scanned, simply leave them in the appropriate box at the front desk – a volunteer will scan them and they’ll be returned to the box for you to pick up. Thanks for everyone’s patience with our ID system this year – especially our Pool Committee volunteers! The pool will be open full time until the start of school and then will be open weekends only through Labor Day.
