ACCREDITATIONS Eclipse, the revolutionary printed circuit board direct plate system from MacDermid Electronics Solutions, has earned Mil-PFR- 55110G approval through Defense Logistics Agency DSCC. Working with fabrication partner Universal Circuits and its strategic military OEM customers, MacDermid demonstrated Eclipse's reliability advantages compared to traditional electroless copper. Eclipse combines the latest innovations in metallizing through holes and blind microvias with state-of-the-art horizontal pro- cessing. The Eclipse process incorpo- rates advances in neutralization, conductive carbon dispersion, and copper preparation. The result is a direct plate process that can surpass electroless copper reliability with the

added benefits of reduced cycle time, reduced equipment footprint, reduced labor costs, simplified process control, and improved oper- ator conditions. Far better than elec- troless copper for the environment, Eclipse eliminates formaldehyde, heavy metals, and chelation. For more information, visit www.mac- dermid.com/electronics.

FIN-X '07 NAHES KEYNOTE SPEAKER FIN-X '07, the conference and expo for industrial finishers taking place from Sept. 17-20 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, Ind., has announced that renown management consult- ant, author, and trainer, Michael P. Collins, MPC Management, will address FIN-X attendees. Specifically, he will explain his thoughts and provide solutions to stop the decline of U.S. manufactur- ing. The author of "Saving American Manufacturing," Collins outlines the changes he feels are necessary for manufacturers to not only survive and compete, but to get back on a track of growth. Collins' keynote will suggest ways for atten- dees to accomplish the following: • Find new customers and markets;

• increase the probabiLity of s u c c e s s

with new products; • create new channels of

distribution; • add specialized services; • change to a new type of

organization; • pay more attention to cost

accounting and pricing; • improve workforce education and

training; and • develop a growth pLan

According to Collins, "Saving American Manufac tur ing ," his third book, is writ ten specifical- ly for America's small and mid- size manufacturers , which make up 98% of all manufac tu r ing locations. Mr. Collins will make an argument for s topping the decline of manufactur ing from defensive solutions, such as cost reduction, to offensive solut ions that are cus tomer driven. He also plans to share some of the many stories of progressive small and midsize manufactur- ers that are growing despite the obstacles of globalization.

Mr. Collins' keynote presentation is one of 25 educational sessions fea- turing more than 60 presentations at the FIN-X '07 Technical

Conference. The presentation is included in the cost of full confer- ence registration, but attendees may also purchase a ticket to attend the keynote address separately if they don't plan on attending the confer- ence. For more information, visit www.fin-x.com.
