Naturally this affects the interest of the spectators, and we have already used our “sky box” (one of 16 VIP boxes built on top of the sponsor lounge) - with a splendid view - a lot, hosting specially invited guests. As an extra bonus, EFB and Blue Water Arena was awarded the international match between Denmark and South Ko-rea on 14.11 – a real appreciation from D.B.U. (Danish Ball Game Union) – and we now look forward to having Blue Wa-ter Arena in the full blaze of publicity again.

Sunday 9.8. was a proud day for Esbjerg, as the newly renovated stadium, Blue Wa-ter Arena, was officially opened following substantial alterations and conversion, which had been carried out in several phases over 5-6 years. A stadium with a capacity of 17,000 spectators, the largest but three in Denmark and an investment of DKK 150 million - and according to the citizens of Esbjerg, the most impres-sive stadium in Denmark. The conditions and facilities are indeed fantastic for eve-rybody – players, spectators, supporters, sponsors and staff. With the stadium bearing our name, it

was only natural for Blue Water to cele-brate the occasion by inviting a lot of cli-ents to the opening ceremony including refreshments and official speeches before the football match between top clubs OB from Odense on Funen and local EFB. Also Blue Water’s staff and their families were invited to watch the match. The only failure was the result of the match as OB carried off the victory (3 points).Whether it is because of the fine facilities that EFB has done splendidly this autumn, we can-not say, but naturally we are very pleased to see EFB at the top of the league at the time of writing.

The official opening ceremony of newly renovated Blue Water Arena football stadium in Esbjerg was a festive occasion

25 years ago, the first issue of our house magazine “Blue Water News” was pub-lished. At that time, Kurt Skov encoura-ged Blue Water’s staff to use the new medium for internal as well as external news. Some of you may remember the front-page picture of a young Kurt Skov wearing an earring - or so it seemed. The earring was, however, the hole in a loose-leaf book on a shelf behind Kurt! The number of pages and the circulation have increased several times since the start in 1984 – and this Christmas issue

The cruise ship M/S “Crown Princess” of Princess Cruises called at Nuuk on 16.9. It is the biggest cruise ship calling at Greenland this year – accommodating 3100 passengers. The ship arrived from Reykjavik on Iceland and continued via Nanortalik to St.Johns in Canada. The 2962 passengers were easily noticeable in Nuuk, which has a population of only 16,000 citizens. Blue Water Greenland was appointed agent for the ship and ready to deliver the service required in connection with such a call.

Holland America Line also called at Greenland. M/S “Eurodam” anchored off the coast of Nanortalik and the 2098 passengers were taken ashore by small shuttle boats. Such a large number of people fill up a lot of space in a little town like Nanortalik. However, everybody en-joyed the day and we have only received positive response. It was the first time the ship called at Greenland and according to traditional practice, a plaque ceremony was held, during which the ship was presented with the town arms of Nanortalik and a plaque.

Blue Water Greenland acted as agent for the yacht “Apoise” when calling at Nuuk and Sisimiut. A planned call at Ilulissat was dropped for reasons of to too much ice. The Canadian owner was on a world cruise and had been away for 2 years. His plan was to sail up along the coast and across the North-West Passage to Alaska. Not many have used this route due to the ice, but we do hope he will succeed. As we normally handle fishing vessels, re-search vessels and cruise vessels, this was one of the more special jobs. Everything went as planned, crew and owner were happy and satisfied and had enjoyed their stay in both Nuuk and Sisimiut.

M/S “Rubin” has during the last 5 months performed the function of factory vessel for the local fishermen in the Greenland community of Ilulissat. The total quota of approx. 1000 tons has been landed and handled/forwarded through Blue Water Ilulissat and Blue Water Aalborg. A fine new activity for our small office in Ilulis-sat, explains Kenneth Birk Jørgensen from Blue Water’s northernmost office.

Our colleagues of Blue Water Nuuk and their families have been on their annual ex-cursion to the Bay of Nuuk. They spent the time fishing, barbecuing and sailing in the bay, enjoying each other’s company. The programme included various activities du-ring the day, a delicious meal in the evening and staying the night in boats and tents. At the back, left to right: Jesper Øraker, Laura, Henrik B. Madsen, Anne, Michael, William, Jeanette Kjeldgaard and Jørgen. In front, left to right: Mathæus Euginius, Nick-las, Sofie, Nana Heilmann and Julie.

As Blue Water is heavily involved in air-freight in connection with Greenland, 3 of our young airfreight colleagues flew by Air Greenland to Kangerlussuaq (Son-dre Stromfjord) to witness the bottleneck freight flow in Kangerlussuaq and to see part of the Greenland culture and sce-nery. Tina Imer Jensen of Blue Water Aalborg and Jesper Bjelke and Cecilie Borch of Blue Water Copenhagen made the trip to Greenland together with Mads Hovgaard of ProActive.

“When we arrived on Thursday 22.10, the temperature was 16 degrees below zero. We received a warm welcome from Tim Koop Jensen and Martin Haagensen and were taken to Hotel Kangerlussuaq and then straight to the freight terminal and Air Greenland’s office. We had a demon-stration of the airline’s systems and Tim showed us the terminal and explained how the systems are working. We must admit that we were very surprised by the work ethics at the terminal. The staff was

Kent Cyril Larsen and Jesper Nielsen of Blue Water Copenhagen had in connec-tion with a sales meeting in Copenhagen on 27.8 arranged a visit to Spirit Air Cargo in the East Terminal, which among other things handles cargo sent by Thai Airways. Following this visit, the sales group boar-ded a Boing 747-400 for a guided tour by Erik Bertelsen, Cargo Sales Representative and Henning Arboe, Cargo & Mail Sales Manager for Scandinavia and Finland.A very interesting visit, during which our sales group seized the opportunity to fol-low the onwards transport of the cargo, explains Glenn Ludvigsen of Blue Water Esbjerg. Blue Water’s cargo volume to/from Thai-land has increased steadily during recent years.

in complete control of things and worked extremely fast. As the air cargo was sent from SFJ on to the different destinations, we witnessed loading of a Dash 7 plane, which was very interesting. The seats were taken out and instead the plane was loaded with cargo.Afterwards it was time for a tour of Kan-gerlussuaq. Tim showed us the port, musk oxen and reindeer. We paid a visit to our agent, Chris Sørensen, at the main ter-minal of Grønlands Lutfhavnsvæsen - the

multi store of the town with a huge stock of everything from screws to washing ma-chines. In the evening, we dined at restau-rant Kangerlussuaq – delicious food and Greenland coffee. Later in the evening, we were lucky to see the northern lights, which are a fantastic sight. The evening ended with a visit to the local bar. Alto-gether, it was a very interesting trip and a fantastic experience. We hereby thank Air Greenland for their hospitality”.

17 September was a special day for Esbjerg, and in particular for DONG Energy, who is behind the construction of Horns Rev 2 – the world’s largest wind farm so far. It is situated 30 km west of Blaavandshuk and consists of 91 wind turbines with a capacity equivalent to the annual power consumption of 200,000 households. A large number of representatives from the Danish Government and Trade & Industry attended the opening - a mi-lestone in Dong Energy’s endeavours to change their energy supply from black to green. Crown Prince Frederik officially opened for the energy supply by pressing a button on the accommodation platform “Poseidon”. It was in fact cheating, as the

Vestas recently awarded Blue Water the contract for the shipment of 100 comple-te offshore turbines from Denmark to the Port of Dunkerque, France. In Dunkerque, Vestas has established a base to execute preassembly activities and loadout onto the installation vessel. The turbines of the V90-3.0MW type are to be installed in UK waters around 15 km north east of Ramsgate. In total, the transport will be done in 14 shipments, two of which have already been executed and delivered.

In May, Blue Water Stevedoring received the happy news from exporter Siemens Windpower and shipowner BBC Charte-ring that we had been awarded the con-tract for loading of the gigantic project ”Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm” - 23 km off the coast of Harwich, Eng-land.The project consists of installation of 140 3.6 MG Siemens wind turbines, shipped from Esbjerg as from August 2009 with expected project completion within one year.Siemens Windpower and shipowner BBC Chartering, who carries out the total of 36 shipments, have chosen Blue Water as business partner for the handling, loa-ding and shipment of the wind turbines.Blue Water was evaluated and chosen on the basis of the following criteria: con-cept, price, HSE quality, past experience, innovation and management system. The project started up on 3 August, and

The World’s Greatest Offshore Wind Farmwe have so far loaded 8 vessels - this year, a total of 42 wind turbines will be shipped with each load comprising 4 complete wind turbines. BBC project ves-sel m/s ”BBC Konan” is used for this spe-cial assignment.Blue Water Stevedoring’s competent staff are already anticipating spring. Shipment

of the remaining 98 wind turbines should resume in March 2010. Shipments are put on hold during the winter months due to the weather conditions.

wind turbines had already been up and running for some time, and 8 turbines still needed to be installed.Construction of the wind farm has taken 1 ½ year, including haulage of the wind turbine sections from the different sup-pliers to Tauruskaj for assembly into large units before shipment by special vessels and installation on location. Siemens Windpower was responsible for delivery of the wind turbines, and DONG Energy had teamed up with A2Sea for the trans-port, while Siemen’s people were respon-sible for the installation. Blue Water was responsible for the loading of the vessels – another big assignment for Blue Water Stevedoring.

As announced in the last issue of Blue Water News, Blue Water has opened an office on the Danish Wadden Sea island of Rømø. The office facilities are newly built and were ready for use in October.

Meetings were held at the end of October to clarify the future and the development of the port plans in connection with off-shore wind farms in the German sector of the North Sea.

Blue Water hopes to offer our services through our new office, which initially will be a subdivision of the shipbroking de-partment in Esbjerg, run by Klaus Odby Jensen. The staff from our Danish head-quarters will be responsible for port calls and other activities on Rømø.

Visit from an old “Caroliner” – M/S “Caroline S” of Svendborg – in Esbjerg during the festival week in August. The ship is owned by the association, Caroline S, in Svendborg, which uses her for various races etc. including Cutty Sark. In this connection, we also acted as agents, when she called at Brest a couple of years ago.

The potato season has started. On 2-3 November, there was hectic activity on the quay, as this year’s first potato ship was loaded with 2000 tons for Algeria. Potato exporter Danespo expects to load one ship per week until the whole order for 22,000 tons for North Africa – Algeria, Libya and Egypt – has been executed.

Another meeting was held in the Cruise & Marine Logistic Network group in September at Tefra Travel Logistic, Ham-burg. Getting such a network ready to go into operation takes time - marketing, rules, sales and forming a united front – but we are working energeti-cally to be ready shortly. We believe that it will be a unique network, and we do hope

To execute the extremely urgent delivery of flowserve equipment, Keppel Fels re-quired the assistance of Blue Water to arrange ex-works transportation from Hamburg in Germany to Keppel Fels’ shipyard in Singapore. The equipment will be installed on a semi-submersible rig being built by Keppel for ENSCO.Blue Water Singapore worked closely with Blue Water’s office in Bremen, Germany to handle the large project transport, which involved splitting of the cargo into four separate shipments in coordination with the manufacturer Flowserve. The total cargo shipped included 9x40’FR, 2x20’FR, 3x40’OT, 5x40’HC, 4x40’GP & 1x20’GP - 45 teus in total (395.944 tons).Based on previous experience with project cargo, Blue Water ensured a smooth and timely delivery to meet dry dock dead-lines in Singapore for equipment instal-lation onto pontoons.

Transporting an oversize generator (5.2 x 4.6 x 3.9 metres) by road from Bremen to Verzuolo in Italy was a logistical challenge for Blue Water’s office in Bremen, Ger-many. Blue Water was assigned the trans-port by Lloyd Dynamowerke for installation at a power plant in Italy. Permits and road-works en route resulted in the generator being transported from Bremen down to the Garda Lake and via Milan and Turin to Verzuolo. Navigating the final stretch of the journey was affected slightly by the fact that the 37.5 metre truck and trailer was too long to cross the last roundabout before the offloading area in Verzuolo. Blue Water completed the transport in 12 days to the client’s complete satisfaction.

Blue Water has over the years arranged a number of transports for Keppel Nantong, and was also entrusted with the shipment of 4 assembly units from Flowserve Ham-burg GmbH to Keppel Nantong’s shipyard in China. Shipment was performed in clo-se cooperation with our project agent in Shanghai – Shanghai Kingline Logistics.

Since the establishment of our Singapore office back in 1998, we have experien-ced a fantastic growth in South East Asia, primarily within our oil and gas related activities, but also in connection with pro-jects and ordinary cargo. A large part of this development is going on in Malay-sia, and to accommodate the wishes of a number of our major clients and to be closer to our core business, we have deci-ded to open an office in Port Klang. In August, Allen David took the helm of this new office, ready to provide services

to new as well as old clients. Client ser-vice and development of new activities are performed in close cooperation with our Singapore office in particular, which has the overall responsibility for the new office in Port Klang. The office does, however, also have close contact to Blue Water’s other offices worldwide.Hectic activity is reported from our new office, and we are already on the outlook for staff to secure a sustained develop-ment.

A project cargo of 8 units, from Flowser-ve Hamburg GmbH to Keppel Batangas in the Philippines, was transported on 4 x 40’ low loaders to Manila North Port. Here, the units were loaded onto a barge and tugged to the shipyard for installa-tion on the B308 Ensco 8504 project.

Following many years of cooperation with our agent Inter Co. Sped., we have deci-ded to strengthen our position and service from Reggio Emilia through the change of agent. As from 1.10, we have entered into cooperation with one of the largest transport and forwarding companies in Italy, Arcese Trasporti Spa, reports Henrik Sidding Nielsen from Blue Water’s Milan office. Arcese is an Italian, privately owned company with headquarters in Arco, Tren-to, south of the Brenner Pass.

The company was founded in 1966 with the purchase of the first two trucks. Since those days, Arcese has grown to include one of Italy’s largest truck and trailer fleets (1,300 tractor units and 1,800 trai-lers).

The Arcese Group has approx. 4,500 employees in 70 offices in 12 countries.

In week 39, Michael Junge/Blue Water Kolding and Carsten Eskildsen/Blue Wa-ter Esbjerg paid a visit to our colleagues and partners in Germany, Holland and Belgium. First stop was Blue Water Amsterdam, where we were introduced to the CTS Group - experts in groupage Europe and haulage of air cargo. Next stop was Blue Water Rotterdam, our future supporting office on the Dutch traf-fic. An interesting addition, as Blue Water Rotterdam for years has been dedicated to sea freight. After Holland came Belgium and a visit

2 New Agents in Italy26 of these offices are situated in Italy, making it one of the top 3 freight forwar-ding companies in Italy. Initially, our coop-eration will be with the office in Campo-galliano, Modena.

To improve our service from Tuscany, we entered into cooperation with Alisped SpA as from the same date.Alisped was founded in Prato in 1968. Over the years, the company has opened a further 9 offices in Italy and 15 world-wide. After more than 40 years in the busi-ness, Alisped is a well-known and not least popular name especially in Tuscany. With a local office in Prato, from which naturally all of Tuscany as well as Rome and Naples are covered daily, this part-nership enables Blue Water to significant-ly improve its service in these regions. Blue

Water Shipping will be agent for Alisped throughout Scandinavia.

Blue Water is already loading a large number of trucks every week to and from Italy. With the new partnerships, we expect that this will increase further.

In total, Blue Water now has six platforms in Italy (Milan, Verona, Vicenza, Modena, Prato and Ancona), from which scheduled groupage departs regularly. We load every Tuesday and Friday from all terminals except Prato and Ancona, where we load Fridays only. Part loads and full loads take place all over Italy continuously.

The traffic is a mix of intermodal trailers (for rail) and traditional road trucks. Inter-modal transportation is especially suited for heavy full loads, as it is possible to load up to 28,000 kilos.

For further information, please contact your local Blue Water office or Henrik S. Nielsen on +39 334 68 30 169.

Roundtrip to Germany, Holland and Belgiumto our partner Groep Essers. The meet-ing was primarily an evaluation of our daily cooperation. When visiting Essers, one always feels impressed by the activity prevailing – a top-professional and effi-cient company. Last stop was ILN in Sinzig near Bonn. This cooperation has lasted for more than 10 years, and we have known the founder, Hubert Staroske, even longer. It was a good and constructive meeting, during which the daily matters were dis-cussed.

Carsten Eskildsen/Blue Water Esbjerg and Per Offersen/Blue Odense were in Turkey from 14 to 16 September to visit our partner on road traffic, ICL Intercombi, in Istanbul.ICL was established in 2003 by Sahap Cak and his son Gokalp Cak, and it is amazing what they have accomplished in such a short time. Today, they have 320 export trucks of their own and operate 1200 domestic trucks. ICL has its own network of offices, with a to-tal of 2,200 employees, all over Turkey, and they have several strings to one bow. The activities include international transport, local distribution, reefer service, logistics cen-tres with pick and pack, hanging garments and fashion service. ICL provides all services for Marks & Spencer in Turkey as well as an enormous amount of distribution for the Ûl-ker Group among other things. It is an interesting company with plenty of initiatives and excellent contacts in Turkey. Together with ICL, we offer daily departure for full loads and departure Tuesday/Friday for groupage. Transit time to and from Den-mark is 6-8 days.

NB: Did you know that approx. 71 million people live in Turkey – 13 million in Istanbul. Indeed a hectic place!

Our Danish General Managers usually meet in Esbjerg 4-6 times a year, and this was also the case on 3.9. Even in a time of crisis it is necessary for everyone to be updated on internal matters and hot sub-jects, which at this meeting included:Our website, which has been down due to technical errors:Dorthe Snow from the marketing depart-ment explained about the problems of technology. An appropriate opportunity for upgrading, and once more we encou-raged everyone to contribute to making our website even more interesting.Influenza A, which has taken up a lot of space in the media: We had therefore arranged that one of the health centres in Esbjerg, represented by Inger Eskildsen, came to inform about what measures to be taken. Blue Water Copenhagen recently recei-ved a visit from Hans Barlach, Mayor of Greve, and Gitte Sparsø, Development Manager of Øresund Developing Park. The intention of the meeting was to dis-cuss Vision 2020 of Greve Municipality. Greve has great ambitions to be the pre-ferred municipality for business enterpri-ses in the Øresund region, and conse-quently the mayor wished to discuss what the municipality could do for the trade and industry. Blue Water has a strategically perfect lo-cation in Greve – 20 minutes from Co-penhagen Airport (Kastrup), 2 minutes from motorway E45, 25 minutes from Sweden (Malmø) and 1 hour from Rød-by/Fehmarn Belt. The aim of VISION 2020, which is now adopted by Greve Municipality, is that the capital area shall be the best place to live, work and to carry on trade. Part of the process in preparing Vision 2020 has been to arrange meetings with the trade and industry of Greve and to integrate ideas and wishes into the vision. Blue Water’s concrete wish is that the

It is a good idea always to con-sult the National Board of Health’s web-site for the latest updates and guidance.HR Manager, Aase Bjerregaard Christen-sen, dropped in to inform about the future plans of the department. Believe it or not, we already now have to make decisions about recruitment of trainees for the sum-mer of 2010. Another proof that it is ne-cessary to make plans for the future.Customs Manager of Blue Water, Claus Bo Larsen, informed with his usual sense of humour about the importance of qua-lity in customs matters. Even customs for-malities become more and more electro-nic, and the time is over when one could talk oneself out of a mistake or two. In consequence we spend a lot of time on in-house training as well as external as-sistance to our clients. We must keep in-tensive focus on customs matters.

Blue Water Transport’s terminal in Pad-borg is used as hub for our fish transport. We have daily services to Northern Ger-many and Boulogne-sur-Mer in France offering day-to-day delivery. Over the weekend, we cover most of Europe and on a weekly basis, we have more than 100 trailers on the European roads with fresh and frozen fish. The trailers are sa-tellite monitored, which makes it possible for us to follow the trailers and check the temperature. The fish comes from Denmark, Iceland, the Faroes, Norway, Sweden, the Baltic States, the Far East and Africa.

In week 39, Stephane le Badezet/Blue Water Hirtshals, Carsten Bøttcher/Blue Water Esbjerg and Carsten Kjær/Blue Water Padborg paid a visit to our long-time partner, Bosteels, in Boulogne-sur-Mer in France. Our fast fish trailer from Denmark arrived on time and as usual Bosteels got top marks for their delivery performance.

With more than 150,000 participants from 180 countries, Anuga in Cologne, Germany once again broke the record as the world’s largest food fair.As in previous years, Blue Water was well represented with people from Brazil, Hol-land, Spain, France, Germany and Den-mark.During the exhibition, we took the oppor-tunity to sit down and concentrate on the things that will be important for us in the future and decide which areas to focus on within food transport in order to remain one of the leading carriers. We also had plenty of opportunity to meet with many of our international clients and business relations, and despite all the talk of crisis, there are again lots of potential to pursue.

For the 21st time, Danfish International 2009 officially opened on 7.10 in Aal-borg Congress & Culture Centre in the North of Jutland. As in previous years, Blue Water handled all goods to and from the exhibition. Our exhibition department in Esbjerg, assisted by staff from Blue Water Aalborg, made sure that everything went according to schedule with exhibitors being ready for the official opening. The exhibition attracted a lot of visitors right from the start – and the total num-ber was 12577. During the exhibition, Ernst Trillingsgaard from Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre was awarded the Initiative Prize of Honour by the Danish Exporters’ Association.

Blue Water Aberdeen and Blue Water Dubai were recently involved in the ship-ping of four Radical Racing Cars and a car transporter from the UK to Dubai. The cars were for a new client of ours, AUH Motorsports Company. Mr Carl Rolaston, who has been a good supporter to Blue Water for many years through BUE and lately Nico, has a great interest in motorsports, and he has teamed up with the Al Masaood family in

Their plans for the future includes running cor-porate days at this magnificent new race circuit, which will be hosting the first ever F1 race in the UAE. AUH Motorsports wants Blue Water to be involved in all the logistics in connection with these races, which we look forward to.

Blue Water Transport On our way back, we dropped in at Yer-seke in Holland to see our good friend and partner, Erik de Koeijer, who took over the shares in Group Vooruit in May. Congratulations to Erik de Koeijer, who has done very well.

Blue Water Aalborg’s Sea Freight North At-lantic Department has for more than a year been busily involved in a major project for Iceland company Istak H.F. and Slovakian company Elektrovod Holding A.S. Istak and Elektrovod were responsible for the installation of a new hydroelectric plant in Anden Bay, a transformer station in Sisi-miut and a power cable between the two. To be able to cover the transport needs in connection with the project, Blue Water was contacted. The project started in August 2008, when a major consignment of steel was sent from Aalborg to Sisimiut. Sub-sequently all kinds of cargo – spanners,

From Spanners to Rescue Helicopter

fulltrack vehicles, a helicopter etc. – were shipped to Greenland. The Greenland in-frastructure required focusing, and heavy demands were made on Istak and Elektro-vod in order to meet the deadline for the project. Naturally the pressure influenced the transport and logistic process, resulting in various sorts of challenges. Great ef-forts from all parties involved – including our warehouse – as well as a close and not least efficient cooperation with our contacts, Dagbjartur Sveinsson of Istak H.F. and Alex-ander Ksinan of Elektrovod Holding A.S, have made it possible for us to look back on a logistic process without substantial da-

mages or delays, explains Dennis Jensen, who was in charge of the project at Blue Water Aalborg. Furthermore the project has resulted in synergies for our airfreight and forwarding department in Aalborg and for our colleagues at Blue Water Co-penhagen.

Late in October, we arranged the return of Elektrovod’s machinery and equipment, which were to be sent on to a new project in Finland. In this connection we had a visit from a very satisfied Alexander Ksinan, who was main responsible for the installation of the power cable.

Blue Water’s annual sporting event for all Blue Water colleagues in Denmark took place on 29.8 in Tistrup, with Blue Water Herning as coordinator assisted by local supporters.According to tradition, the day’s pro-gramme included badminton, beach volley, petanque - for which the results were measured down to the millimetre to find the right winner – and football – with tough but unfair fighting between the offices.Other activities to be mentioned were shooting and aerobics and not forgetting the new initiative, cycling. Rounders was also part of the programme. but the rules for this old schoolyard activity were not fully clarified. Last but not least, we had floorball and teamwork! What is teamwork? We believe that all participants can agree to the statements: fun, different and big laughter (and a rainy pleasure). The participants were divided into teams of 3 for the following competiti-ons: rolling bales of straw, ski walking and not forgetting fast-eating of liquorice straw.Congratulations to all participants – both winners and “losers”. Wonderful to see such enthusiasm and fair play through and through.

AGF and Blue Water Aarhus had made a joint arrangement on Monday 28.9 and invited 115 AGF sponsors to watch the football match between EFB and AGF on Blue Water Arena. Blue Water played host to the 115 sponsors, who were given an introduction of our company, a tour of the port of Esbjerg and refreshments before the match. Despite the fact that AGF lost the match, we have, however, received a very positive response from our guests afterwards.

Blue Water Odense in particular is inten-sely watching the TV show “Strictly come Dancing”. One of our Odense collea-gues, Luise Dons, has got some time off from work to participate as one of the professional dancers in the show. Luise can look back on a professional dancing career in Holland and Germany, and she is still very active as a dancing teacher in Odense in addition to her forwarding job. After 5 weeks, Luise is still in the show together with her dancing partner, René Dif, who is lead singer in the Danish pop band Aqua.

Blue Water Singapore was also invited to this year’s BBC Chartering Volleyball Tournament. Last year, our colleagues won the bronze medal, but this year they managed to take home the gold medal.

12 new trainees – 10 forwarding and 2 accounting trainees, all employed with Blue Water Denmark as from 2009 – ga-thered in Esbjerg in week 44 for an intro-duction seminar.During the week, they learned about Blue Water’s history and the many activities and areas covered by the administration departments and the various companies in the Blue Water Group. Moreover, we took our new trainee team on a guided tour of Blue Water Arena, a very informa-tive harbour cruise and a visit to IBC Kol-ding. On the last day, Friday, our trainees were in good hands with our “coach”, Leo Oehlenschlæger, who, in his usual enthusiastic and energetic, way caught their attention. This is quite an achieve-ment, as the Friday is always a bit dull after the previous evening and night’s traditional party. It was a pleasure learning to know our new trainees, who are very active, inqui-sitive and committed. According to the evaluation, they were all very satisfied with the seminar, which they felt gave them a good insight into Blue Water.

20 yearsNew Year’s day, Bent Rasmussen will be celebrating his 20th anniversary with Blue Water – or more precisely as Director of Smyril Blue Water – a company in the Blue Water Group. Bent is responsible for our offices in Torshavn/the Faroes, Seydisfjordur/Iceland, Hanstholm, Hirts-hals and Smyril Blue Water’s department in Esbjerg. The latter came into existence at Smyril Line’s change of schedule, for its North Atlantic service, from Hanst-holm to Esbjerg – except for the 3 sum-mer months. Great demands are made on Bent - and his family – as he is travelling a lot. As they are a real stay-at-home family, who love their hometown Hirtshals, Bent has to spend a lot of time on the road and in the air between his different locations.Bent is a hard worker and extremely well-liked by everybody. In his quiet Northern Jutland manner, he manages his job bril-liantly and is a much appreciated col-league – also by Blue Water’s Manage-ment.

On 1.2.1990, Pernille Sigvardt came fresh from the Odense University, just graduated as a trilingual commercial correspondent (French/English) into the reception of our Odense office. Her job in the reception soon developed into an all-rounder function with contacts across the organisation. Pernille became an ef-ficient sales secretary and she has over the years worked determinedly on tender structuring, sales reporting etc. Pernille has also left her mark on the company’s sales system SMS. She is a very central person at the Odense office, where she is responsible for HR functions, purchasing and various operation routi-nes. Pernille lives in Dalum with her son, Vic-tor, and boyfriend Thomas.

Michelle Minto Le-Dreff joined Blue Wa-ter Dublin on 19.3.1990. After detours to Esbjerg and England, she arrived in the safe port of Brest – in the reefer ves-sel chartering department – in 1996. In private life, Michelle has also found a safe port, as she is happily married to a Frenchman nicknamed “P.Y.”. The fa-mily also includes their nearly 4-year-old, lovely daughter, Sarah. Among her col-leagues, Michelle is also known as “Mrs. Telephone Manager”. Though her French has improved a lot, she still speaks with a charming Irish accent. In her spare time, Michelle likes swimming, long walks on

the beach, travelling and going out for a nice meal or a movie with her friends. Her favourite television series include Grey’s Anatomy and NCIS (Naval Crimi-nal Investigate Service).

On 16.3, Frédéric Jullien will be celebra-ting his 20th anniversary with Blue Water Brest. Frédéric has always shown serious-ness and diligence in his job and was a few years ago appointed Manager of the Agency Department. He is also the com-puter expert of the office – his speciality is powerpoint. On the home front, Frédé-ric is a handyman, having renovated his house from cellar to attic – together with his wife Isabelle. In his spare time, Frédé-ric likes skiing, sailing and an evening out with his friends. The whole family – which also includes 3 children – is fond of tra-velling, and last summer they toured the USA – almost 3000 kilometres from San Francisco to San Diego via Las Vegas, Grand Canyon – an experience for life.

10 yearsOn 2.1, Rafik Suleymanov will be cele-brating his 10th jubilee with Blue Water Baku. Rafik is a valued member of our warehouse team. His tremendous capa-city for work and efficiency has made him respected among his colleagues. As a professional packer, Rafik assists our personal effects specialists in carrying out surveys of household goods. Rafik has a wife and 2 daughters, aged 6 and 2, and he supports his elderly mother, who lives with the family. Rafik’s leisure activities include angling and sport, and he is pas-sionately fond of rock music, which helps him relax after the day’s intensive work.

Kristian Malthe Rasmussen – also cal-led Malthe – joined our terminal team in Esbjerg on 4.1.2000. Malthe received his training as a skilled warehouseman and transport assistant at Jutlandia Ter-minalen in Esbjerg in 1992 and has since worked for various companies in the port of Esbjerg. At Blue Water, Malthe is pri-marily involved in the activities for our big client, M-I Danmark - exclusive supplier of drilling fluids/chemicals in connection with oil /gas drillings in the Danish sector of the North Sea. Malthe has packed and unpacked an endless number of offshore containers, and he has also mixed and pumped out thousands of m3 of drilling fluids to the supply vessels. A demanding job, both time-wise and in respect of con-centration, with many long nights on the harbour.

On 5.1.2000, Maryse Petersen joined our accounts department in Lorient as part-time employed. Since 2002, Maryse has been working full-time, sharing her time between accounting, containers and ship’s agency. She is our French/Danish lady, speaking fluent Danish as she has lived in Denmark for 9 years. Maryse is a hard-working lady, always in a good mood and young at heart – in fact the perfect colleague. Maryse likes riding her bicycle, hiking and holidays with her two children, Stéphanie and Janik.

On 12.1, John Eaglesham will be cele-brating his 10th anniversary with Blue Water Ipswich. John is our specialist on deep sea and projects, and he has wide experience within these activities from his previous employments in Panama and the Middle East.In his spare time, John keeps busy gro-wing fruit and vegetables in his allotment garden and also with his family, both as a parent and grandparent. He loves food and wine and his dry sense of humour keeps everyone entertained.

Anne Skov has in a way been connected with Blue Water all her life. Her father became sole owner of the company when her mother was in an advanced stage of pregnancy. So you can say that she grew up with Blue Water. At an early age, Anne became Blue Water News packer follo-wed by an office girl/messenger job – but one thing was sure, she did not want to become a forwarding agent! Over the years, however, she changed her mind, and 10 years ago she started with Blue Water Manchester, just to see whether she might like it. Obviously it did not frighten her as she started her apprenticeship in the road department for Western Euro-pe at Blue Water Esbjerg right after her summer holiday. Having completed her second year of apprenticeship in the sea freight import department, Anne became part of our oil & energy team. Given the opportunity, she accepted a two-year posting at our Dubai office. She returned to the project department in Esbjerg and was later appointed manager of our oil & energy department. Anne is also a mem-ber of the Blue Water Foundation Board.Since her return from Dubai, Anne has become a mother of two lovely toddlers – Victor (3 ½) and Frida (6 months) – and will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 17.1. at home on maternity leave.

in the economy department in Esbjerg back in 2000 (1.2.). With the global re-organisation of the Blue Water Group in 2001, the internal and external presen-tation of accounts became more com-prehensive. Consequently, consolidation sheets and internal eliminations – compe-tences of the auditing business – became Flemming’s core areas. Later, Flemming took over the position of Finance Mana-ger of Blue Water Shipping A/S – with pri-mary focus on the Danish division of the group in connection with a few branches abroad. In 2006, however, the structure of the group’s finance function changed and Flemming took over the manage-ment of the group finance department jointly with Hanne Bärthel. One of Flemming’s forces is his ability to remain calm, even under stress, which has a positive influence on his surroundings. At the home front, Flemming is married to Laila and they have three children, Rikke, Lasse and Anders. His spare time is devoted to renovation of the family’s house and garden in Holsted – under expert guidance from his father-in-law. Rumour has it that he is one of the parti-cipants on next year’s Tour de Paris with Team Rynkeby.

10 years has passed since Henning Søe joined Smyril Line Cargo in Hanstholm on 1.3.2000. The company has since been transformed into Smyril Blue Water. Henning came from the fishing industry, and his training at the office of Chrisfish was his admission to a freight forwarding job. It has been interesting years with many challenges, and Henning has al-ways contributed greatly towards a strong team spirit at work.Henning is married to Vita, who is study-

ing to become a teacher, and they have 3 children – 1 boy and 2 girls. They have a stud farm for breeding Iris Cob horses, which takes up a lot of their spare time. Henning is also an enthusiastic hunter and angler.

René Jørgensen will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with Blue Water Aal-borg on 1.3.2010. René actually started with Blue Water Hirtshals back in 1995, and was also dealing with fish transport, when we were involved in that business through our Aberdeen office in Scotland back in 97-98.After a few years outside the company, René returned to the fold – this time to Blue Water Aalborg, René is very much dedicated to his job as manager of the North Atlantic sea freight department and has developed great expertise in export to Greenland. His department profits by his Jutland competences; business talent and persistence. In private life, René is an active sportsman and the father of 2 lively children. He has in fact played table ten-nis in the top league in Brønderslev, and if only he had trained his right leg more, we might have seen him playing league football in Northern Jutland

On 11.4, Finn Nielsen will be celebrating his 10th jubilee in the IT department in Esbjerg. After his military career – star-ting as national serviceman and ending with the rank of sergeant – Finn started his apprenticeship as an IT supporter - in fact the first IT supporter trainee in Blue Water’s history.Having completed his 2-year apprentice-ship, Finn stayed on and is now a very important figure in the administration of

our IT systems. One of the funny stories about Finn is that he once presented his girlfriend with an ultimatum; “If you try to come between me and my computer and force me to choose, I will choose …..”. Well, you may ask Finn about the answer!!! He is now married to his girl-friend, whose name is Annika, and they have a daughter, Simone, who is going to become a big sister in the spring of 2010. He has certaintly changed his tune.

Ole Holst Andersen joined Blue Water Aarhus on 1.3.2000 as manager of our Sweden and Domestic department – a position he still holds. Sweden has always been Ole’s domain – also at Svedan Transport, where he served his apprenti-ceship, and during his 10 years with Sam-son Transport. The Mocha IT system is not Ole’s strong point, but he likes to arrange trucks for transport. He does, however, have his “own way” of doing things, and it might make his colleagues nervous, when he suddenly takes part in the daily operation. After a couple of days, things usually improve. Ole is always willing to help his colleagues whenever needed and he is positive and sociable. Ole lives in Hinnerup with his wife, Lene, (who is also a Blue Water colleague) and their children, Sofus and Frederikke. Ole is also an enthusiastic golfer, and it really annoyed him to surrender the cup this year after 3 successive victories.
