Gemini and UpToDate teamed up to attend HiMSS Turkey 2015
On the 20th and 21st of March, Gemini and UpToDateattended the second annual HiMSS Turkey EducationalConference and Exhibition, a joint initiative between theTurkish Ministry of Health and HiMSS, in Antalya, Turkey.
The event proved to be a success! Our attendance included abooth at the exhibition for product demos, meetings, andinformation which was continuously buzzing with activitythroughout the two days. On the second day, in a sessioncalled “Choosing the right IT Solution to Avoid MedicalErrors,” Greg Adams, Vice President Strategic BusinessDevelopment, Alternate Channels, and Special Projects atUpToDate participated in a panel discussion on the benefitsof clinical decision support (CDS).
The Gemini team sent out both a preshow email to generate awarenessof our attendance and a followup email to connect with those we met atthe conference.
Gemini used the Marketing Development Funds (MDF) program tofinance the cost of the booth space and speaking slot. CorpoMedica/Elite Medical launches UpToDate Anywhere through launchevents, press releases, radio spots, and more

In April, the UpToDate Channel Partner covering Ecuador,CorpoMedica/Elite Medical, partnered with a local public relations (PR)company to increase the awareness of UpToDate Anywhere in theirregion ahead of two launch events. The entire project was cofunded byUpToDate and CorpoMedica/Elite Medical using MarketingDevelopment Funds (MDF).
Their efforts turned out to be extremely successful. It started with apress release cowritten by UpToDate and CorpoMedica, which manyregional news outlets, including the national newspaper PP ElVerdadero, picked up. The coverage also included radio spots and avideo interview on DailyMotion for a program by la UniversidadCatólica de Santiago de Guayaquil. The UpToDate social media teamshared photographs from the events and posted links to the mediacoverage.
The launch events were in two strategic cities in Ecuador: Guayaquil and Quito. Guests received a personalinvitation to the events where representatives from UpToDate and CorpoMedica/Elite Medical spoke aboutUpToDate Anywhere.
Overall, it is an excellent example of how traditional media, such asadvertising, PR, and radio, complement the use of onsite events toreach as many people as possible when introducing the UpToDateAnywhere access option to a market.

They accomplishedthis through persistence, a strong vision, a diversified approach toeach customer, indepth product knowledge, and a strongmarketing mix.
Robert’s Plus just won the first contract for UpToDate Anywherein Central and South Eastern Europe. It was with Institute ofOncology in Slovenia and is structured as a threeyear committedcontract.

"Body of Evidence" Featured Study: Solucient
In a study, Solucient (now part of Truven Health Analytics,a multinational healthcare company that provideshealthcare analytics), compared hospitals with and withoutaccess to UpToDate, and found that patients at hospitalswith UpToDate had significantly shorter lengths of stay(.167 days per discharge, or 1 night less per every 6patients), lower complication rates, and better patientsafety outcomes than hospitals without UpToDate.

Meet Heather Donnellan, Channel Partner Marketing Manager at UpToDate. Heatherjoined the UpToDate Channel Partner team in late 2014 and has been working to createprograms and to provide individual marketing support for all of our Channel Partners.Heather is committed to supporting UpToDate Channel Partners across the globe, drivingintegrated marketing plan development, and creating and executing programs to help meetchannel sales targets.
Prior to her current role, she worked in ebook publishing as a Marketing Manager forChannel Partners. Previous experience includes product marketing, community marketing,and events management. She received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Marketingand her Masters in Business Administration degree from Salve Regina University in
Newport, RI, USA.
Her current responsibilities include managing this bimonthly newsletter, Marketing Development Fund(MDF) activities, and the new “Defining Value” email communication designed specifically for our ChannelPartners. She also works with our partners individually to learn about their markets and help develop specificMarketing materials, programs, and activities for their region.
