How does my child start the 2020-2021 schoolyear?
1. JBM will host a material pick-up day for students on September 1st from 3pm-6pm.During this time, please drive by to pick-up a math workbook, reading book, agenda book,handouts, and other materials. These materials are vital to begin virtual instruction.
2. Teacher assignments will be available via Home Access Center on the evening ofSeptember 2nd.
3. Teachers will call each student in their homeroom on September 3rd.4. A Virtual Open House will be held on September 17th. Parents will be invited by their
child’s teacher to join in a Zoom meeting.5. Students will utilize the Google Suite to manage their online learning this year. All
students have Smyrna Eagles Google accounts which allows them access to GoogleDrive, Google Classroom, and Gmail.
6. Clever is a single sign-on system that is used by the Smyrna School District to providestudents with one location to log-in to their apps. Clever can be accessed via the SmyrnaSchool District or JBM website. When students click “Clever,” they will click on “Log inwith Google.” They will use their Smyrna Eagles Google Account log-in.
7. Your child’s teacher will call you the week prior to the start of school. The teacher willprovide your child with the Google Classroom access code for both their English
Language Arts/Social Studies teacher and their Math/Science teacher. Your child needsto record the code and join both Google Classrooms by September 8th. GoogleClassroom is where your child will access their lessons, assignments and receiveupdates from their teachers.
8. Teachers may also communicate with your child using their Smyrna Eagles Gmailaccount, so please encourage your child to actively log on daily to check both theirGoogle Classroom and their Gmail. Teachers will post online meeting times and accesscodes in Google Classroom and through Gmail.
9. Teachers will invite you to join their Google Classroom as a guardian, so please makesure that your child’s teacher has your current email address. This feature allows you tosee the progress your child is making on their assignments.
10. Your family can also access teacher websites on the JBM website -jbm.smyrna.k12.de.us, where you can also �nd additional information about virtuallearning and our school.
What does this school year look like?JBM students begin the school year on September 8th in a Virtual Learning Model. ALLstudents will be expected to participate in virtual learning from September 8th through October23rd.Beginning October 26th, students who selected to participate in the Hybrid Learning Model willbegin physically coming into the school building 2 days each week while continuing to learn athome the other three days a week Students who selected to continue working in the Virtual
Learning Model will not come into the building and will continue learning from home until theGovernor returns us to green.
