DDA HAPPENINGSWednesday Night Concert SeriesIn an effort to increase activity in Town Square, the DDA has plans to introduce a Wednesday night acoustic concert series in Town Square. The concerts will take place from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and will offer music ranging from jazz to rock and A Capella. Crowd favorites Robin Horlock and Ryan Racine are on the schedule to kick off the inaugural season of the concerts.

Newspaper Racks Last year the DDA made the decision to remove the deteriorating newspaper rack at Hutton and E. Main Street and to replace the newspaper rack at W. Main Street with a smaller version. Decrease in the circulation of print media has lessened the demand for newspaper racks in downtown. The rack on E. Main has already been removed, and the W. Main rack is scheduled for removal this summer. A letter was sent to all publications that have previously occupied space in the news racks to determine their interest in occupying a space in the new rack.

Bike Repair Station DDA staff is collaborating with Eagle Scout candidate Jackson Cooney to install a bike repair station downtownThe station will include Allen wrenches, screw drivers, tire levers and every other tool you would need to fix a bike. It also includes a tire pump and a rack to hold the bike off the ground while it is being worked on. All the tools are connected to the metal housing with steel cables to prevent them from being taken. The location of the repair station will be along Cady Street, between Center and Wing Streets and will be installed this summer. Watch for the announcement!

EV Charging Stations – Coming Soon! The electric vehicle charging stations are located behind 120 W. Main (the Old Church Square parking lot). The designated parking spots are strictly for EV vehicles and will be limited to three hours/vehicle. The two electric vehicle charging stations are equipped with both Tesla and Clipper Creek (standard Level 2) charging capabilities, which will allow any electric vehicle to charge in Downtown Northville.

Acquisition and installation of the charging stations has been facilitated by Up2Go, a company headquartered in Downtown Northville that provides cloud-based enterprise applications for global Tier-1 automotive suppliers. Up2Go was responsible for project management and will provide initial funding of electricity for the Electric vehicle charging stations.

To help attract EV owners to visit downtown Northville the stations are registered on popular charging network sites such as ChargeHub, PlugShare, Plug in America and Tesla (tesla.com/destination-charging).

Parking Deck Repairs The City/DDA recently hired a restoration engineering firm to evaluate both the MainCentre and Cady Street parking decks. The decks are 24 years old and are in need of repairs. The firm, Carl Walker/WGI, will evaluate the decks and develop both a restoration plan and a maintenance plan for the City. The maintenance Plan will provide an annual list of repair items and cost estimates for budgeting. The project will begin in early May and will take about 12 weeks to complete. Once the rehabilitation plan has been approved by the DDA and City Council, the repair work will take place in early fall.

Tipping Point Theatre presents!

When Rob and Maddie, longtime Michiganders, move down South for Maddie’s new job, Rob quickly discovers that the opossum living under their deck isn’t the worst of his problems. When their friendly next-door neighbor invites Rob to join him in a Civil War reenactment, a simple and comical misunderstanding ignites a hilarious private war that threatens to demolish the couple’s new life before it even begins. See if geography can bind these two sides or if the battle wounds will cut too deep.
