You must also stay within 3 metres of your vehicle. If you move away from your vehicle more than 3 metres you can receive a fine. If you stop in, or partly in, an area showing a no parking sign and you are not picking up or dropping off passengers or goods, you are con- sidered to be parked and can be fined. This is the case even if you stay with your vehicle. This is a particularly important notice for our parents who wait inside their cars for their children before 3.15pm. The green signs indicate that you are able to park in these areas for half an hour in between the same times 8am – 10am and 2pm - 4pm on school days. We want all of our parents to take extra care when parking around the school and to pay attention to the parking restrictions that are in place as the Dandenong Council Parking Supervisors have been patrolling on a regular basis around the school enforcing these regulations.

School Parking Changes

This is a notification for the Dandenong Community to let our parents know about the recent changes to parking on David Street.

Local Council has re-placed the old parking regulation signs with new ones that you can see on this page.

An explanation of these signs are as fol-lows:

The red sign indicates that no one is allowed to park in these bays between the time of 8am to 10am on school days and between 2pm to 4pm on school days.

However the council regulations also state that a no parking sign can still allow our parents to drop off and pick up their children dur-ing these times - however there are a few rules to follow:

If there is a 'no parking' sign, you can stop for 2 minutes in that area if you are picking up or dropping off passengers or goods. You must also stay within 3 metres of your vehicle. If you move away from your vehicle more than 3 metres you can receive a fine.

If you stop in, or partly in, an area showing a no parking sign and you are not picking up or dropping off passengers or goods, you are con-sidered to be parked and can be fined. This is the case even if you

stay with your vehicle.

Intensive Swimming Program Begins For Prep - Year 2

The makers of the Mathletics Program 3P Learning have provided Dandenong North with certificates for the top Mathletics users within our school.

This Maths based program is offered to all students in Years 1 to 6 for free. Each classroom teacher sets tasks for individual students that they can work on independently and is at their developmental level.

At Monday’s Assembly, Mr Hilton presented three children with certificates for their stellar perfor-mance with Mathletics during this academic year. All children earn points from completing tasks that have been assigned by their teacher as well as when they compete against other children from around the world in Live Mathletics.

The children her received awards were:

1st Place: - Milica (2C)

2nd Place: - Lazar (5F)

3rd Place: - Amelia (2S)

We congratulate these three children on such a fantastic effort. It serves as a reminder to all stu-dents that Mathletics is available - and that you too could be awarded with a certificate!

Mathletics Awards

What a splash was made in the pool this Monday as our Prep, Year One and Year Two children be-gan annual swimming lessons.

It has been fantastic to see so many students take up the opportunity to learn how to swim this year. We have so many participants that there is not enough room in the pool for the whole school! In-stead the Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children will under-take their 2 week intensive lessons beginning Monday 26th November..

These swimming les-sons are again taking place at Dandenong Swim at Genesis Pool in Scott Street Dan-denong.

It is always exciting for the children as they begin their lessons - in particular for the Preps - some who have never been in the pool before! By all accounts the

children were well behaved and had an enjoya-ble time.

It is going to be a tiring couple of weeks for the children, so it is important that during this time, they go to bed early and recharge their batteries for the next day’s events.

A big thank you to Mr Malone for organising this event for the children.

Volleyball Regional Finals

On Monday the Mixed Volleyball team travelled to Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough.

Dandenong North have never had a Volleyball team achieve the feat of reaching the Regional Finals before. The children rose to the level being more than competitive against each of the schools they played against.

In their first game against Cranbourne Carlisle Primary we lost two sets to one, being defeated in the final set 10 points to 8.

In the second game, DNPS outplayed Oakleigh Grammar two sets to one.

In the final game Dandenong North comfortably won both sets.

We are currently in the process of organising grades and teaching staff for next year and it is very important for us to know our enrolment num-bers for 2019. If you know that your child will not be attending Dandenong North next year, could you please fill out the slip below and either return

it to your child’s classroom teacher or to the of-fice staff as soon as possible.

We thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Athletics Day

SRC - Disco

The annual SRC Disco was again a fantastic success! It was sensational to see all of the chil-dren come dressed and have such a wonderful time in the hall at recess.

Overall, the SRC raised $542.10 which will be donated to charity. We thank the DNPS commu-nity for supporting this event.

Last Friday DNPS hosted their first Years 3-6 House Athletics Carnival at the Dandenong High School oval. The students got dressed up in their house colours and competed against their class ma-tes in five different events. The events were the 60m Dash, Hurdles, Vortex throw, Baton relay and an Obstacle course. At the end of the day there was a final of the 60m Dash for each year level. The winners for each year level are as following:

Girls winner Boys winner

Grade 3 Tania B Shekib A

Grade 4 Isabella V Marko R

Grade 5 Jeel P Archit K

Grade 6 Grace M Wajahat M

Overall, despite the fantastic efforts from all students, the points were counted and Marsh came out as the winning house. Congratulations to Marsh on their victory! A huge thank you to Mr Fenby for instigating and co-ordinating this wonderful event for our students. We would also like to thank the Year 6 leaders who were invaluable assistants.

1st Marsh 1830

2nd Leed 1807

3rd Verey 1746

4th Keys 1706

We also thank Miss Wiltgren, Mr Lodge and the SRC team for making this event so special.
