In the last few months Natta has passed some significant milestones in the Business.
We have passed 1.5 million working man hours without a notifiable accident. We have completed as main contractor the shell and core at Redfields Garden Centre together with the 278 roundabout and access road at Longcross on time and on budget, receiving many plaudits from our clients for the speed, quality and way in which we carried out the jobs.
We continue to be awarded work and are busy pricing further exciting projects which will expand our turnover and capability further. It is these successes to which you all contribute that keep our existing clients coming back to us and encourage new clients to want our services.
At the time of writing the sun has been shining and the sites are producing. Keep attentive to our core values, please work safe and smart and we will continue to share the success going forward.

Natta Group 2014 Charity Golf Day!
BRIGHTWELLS GOSTREY CENTRE
The Natta Group Charity Golf Day on
Friday 29th May 2014 at the Sherfield Oaks Golf Club in
Sherfield on Loddon was again a resounding success. We raised a fantastic £10,730 for
our two nominated charities; The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, registered no.
1095197, for the Centre for Children and Young People at the Royal Marsden Hospital in
Sutton and the Brightwells Gostrey Centre for the elderly, registered no.1053876, based
in Farnham for £4,290 and £6,440 respectively. We wish to extend our thanks to
everyone who took part. A special mention goes to John Murphy, Sue Lipyeat and Ellie
Taylor for all their hard work on organising and coordinating the day.
The weather was good to us on the day and some fine golf was played, and Sherfield Oaks provided us
with an excellent lunch as always. We wish to extend our thanks to everyone who took part in our 2014
Annual Golf Day for the Natta Groups nominated charities. Again we were delighted by the outstanding
generosity of all of you. On behalf of our charities our thanks go to all those who attended and a special
thank you to all our clients and suppliers for their donations, without who, the day would not have been a
success.

Peter & Sam Trott
WEDDING CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to our HR Manager Sam who got married to Peter Trott at the Winchester Registry Office on Saturday 31st May at 10.30am (early enough that Peter couldn’t get into the pub beforehand!). The ceremony was followed by a lunch at her cousins restaurant and an evening reception ensued at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh for another 160+ people. Sam said, “The whole evening went relatively well! We managed to drink the bar dry and the last man standing was the Groom who finally managed to make it back to the room by about 3am! Honeymoon in Las Vegas a week later saw Peter trying to cash in my life insurance policy by taking me zip-lining in Boulder City and for a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon but we had an absolutely great time!”
Congratulations also to Joe Finn and Danielle who got married back in Ireland on 3rd May. Joe said, “Despite a small rain shower the day went magnificently. It all went to plan was very well organised. Obviously Danielle did all the planning!” We wish them a lifetime of happiness.
Some of the things that have been happening within the HR department over the last quarter have been the implementation of the new HR database, creation of an organisation chart, review of the Performance Development review process, all HR policies have been reviewed and updated as has the Contract of Employment and Employee Handbook, we now have electronic (and paper) personnel files for every employee and we also have a properly documented onboarding and exit procedure. Work in Progress for HR over the next few months: Graduate Development/Talent Management Programme, Health and Wellbeing Survey, Induction Programme, Employment Law course for Line Managers and Employee Survey.
Thank you to those of you who completed your Personal Details update by the deadline of 27 June. If you haven’t yet completed and returned your form, could I please have the stragglers back by return. And, talking of Personal Details, can I remind you that the photocard part of your driving licence does have an expiry date (section 4b on the card) – you can be fined £1,000 if you haven’t renewed and you’re stopped by the police. For your interest (and at the time of writing), recruitment this year stands at 22 heads with 100% retention. Finally, if there’s anything you feel that HR should be focusing on in particular then please do let me know.
Samantha Trott - HR Manager
MD WINS GOLD & COMPLETES 3 PEAK CHALLENGE! Congratulations to our MD, John Whelan, who won Gold at the 2014 Koshiki Karatedo Full Contact World Cup Senior over 40 years of age category which was held June 21st and 22nd in London, Ontario, Canada. John went as part of the British team and Natta helped sponsor the British Team tracksuits. The ‘bucket list’ continues, last weekend John also did the 24 hour 3 peak challenge which comprised Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon which are the highest 3 mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. 28.1 miles in distance and over 10,000 metres assent. John remarked, “We were very lucky with the weather, we had superb views on all 3 mountains. The uphill was very tiring but the downhill was very painful… and still feeling it!”
We wish Eric Murphy all the best for a long, happy and healthy retirement. Eric was one of our longest standing workers putting in a massive 30+ years for Natta as an Excavator Driver. At his retirement party he received a watch and some money.
And finally many happy returns to David Hughes who collected his free bus pass last month. We celebrated with him in style with a ‘then and now cake’!. There was also an office whip round and he was given a flight on a biplane and vouchers for a meal out.

HEALTH & SAFETY NEWS
As part of the ‘Skanska Way’ week at Thameside, held back in May,
contractors were asked to participate in a number of activities to highlight
important site issues such as safe working practices and diversity. Natta
provided language training to a number of Skanska and Natta staff in Spanish
and Albanian so that people could be greeted in their own language to
increase the feeling of being valued as part of the multicultural team.
During May 2014 external Auditors (NQA) carried out a 5 day integrated audit
for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 both at Head Office and various sites.
I am glad to report that we passed with flying colours with no non
conformances recorded.
I would like to thank the staff for their contribution in achieving such a great
result.
