Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude.” -Ralph Marston Attitude is an important attribute in life, not only is it a precursor to success but also determines our actions, decisions and preferences. We firmly believe that if children are trained to have the right attitude they can transform challenging situations into encouraging triumphs. We as parents and teachers shoulder the great responsibility of training our children to develop the right attitude. We usually treat instances of wrong attitude as a pass- ing phase and tend to overlook the situation, thinking that children will learn with age. However, such leniency can boomerang as it becomes a part of the child’s per- sonality by then. It is more difficult for them to unlearn things rather than to learn them. They are our children and we cannot let them go. We need to address the prob- lem and nip it in the bud before it turns into something dangerous. Right attitude can’t be learnt within days or weeks. Rigorous training is required from a very young age when their minds are impressionable. We need to be patient yet firm and for this communication is the key. We need to keep talking to the children about different situations and help them develop the right attitude. We need to teach them that instead of grumbling about trivial matters, they should introspect and assess what went wrong. They should have the sense to make the best out of what they have in hand. Being an all- inclusive school, we strive to sensitize our children towards the needs of the people who are less privileged. We wish to see our children blossom into ‘cheerful givers’ which is an essential trait of any St. Marian. They should be able to appreciate that , what we have, comes from God. He joyfully gives to us. Our ser- vice to our fellow beings is an extension of our gratitude to Him. We want our children to perceive that giving is not a duty but a privilege. What flows away from us as charity, would flow back to us magnified, by the grace of Almighty. Keeping with this belief, the school has taken an initiative and installed two canisters in the school. The children should come and donate a handful of rice and pulses once in a week. This would be their baby steps towards charity but would go a long way in helping them imbibe the values of compassion and empathy. Our only objective in planning a range of activities for our children is to bring out the best in them. Hence ,we urge all the parents to support us in all our programmes that are undertaken during an academic session so that our efforts bring the desired results. Art and craft work done by the students was depicted in “My Creative Corner‟. The occasion was graced by Mrs. Geeta Kumari, Group Coordinator ( Navy Wives Welfare Association) OPEN DAY (SR.) The theme “For the Love of Vigour & Strength” presented a unique amalgamation of sports, music and dance. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Devinder Singh, Deputy Director, Directorate of Education. Ms. Sheelu Mathew presented the School’s Annual Report. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and Principal followed by a dance performance as the students invoked the bless- ings of the Almighty. The audience was enthralled by the drill display using colourful hula hoops, dazzling pom-poms and sprightly umbrellas. They also applauded the calculated calisthenics of the young gymnasts and Zumba which was a synthesis of energetic dance movements and music. Students presented an artistic form of yoga and the popular martial art form-Taekwondo. The in- vigorating choir, accompanied by the talented instrumentalists won the admira- tion of all. The Annual Day programme culminated with a splendid display of illuminated finesse by the students of class XI and XII who lit up the show with an enchanting torch drill. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts put in by the school in providing a holistic education to the students through the inculcation of humanistic values and for providing curricular and co-curricular excellence.

23.07.2016 –The Open Day was organised on the theme ‘Future – 2050.’ Students showcased various working models and charts focusing on different aspects of the future. Working models reflected how various human activities such as farming, construction and surgeries, can be performed more efficiently by robots in the future. The students also created models on ways to solve traffic and parking woes. 02.08.2016-Jatin Mehta (XII), Sidharth Kaushal (XI), Shubham Sandhu (XII) & Sara Varghese (XII) won the second position in Movie Making Competition and

Prokrita Chanda (XII), Tanisha Das (XII) & Tanishka (IX) won the second position in Origami Competition held at Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar.

04.08.2016-Our School Band won the third position in the Western Band Competition held at Dwarka Interna-tional School.

09.08.2016- Kavya Chibber (Std. I) and Atharva Karki (Std. II) won the third position in Poem Recitation Competition, Maxfest-2016 held at Maxfort School, Dwarka.

10.08.2016-Akshat Tanwar and Rashi Singh of Std. VIII secured the first position in Science-O-Mania Maxfest-2016 held at Maxfort School, Dwarka.

20.10.2016-21.10.2016-Rashi Singh (VIIIB), Akshat Tanwar (VIIIB) and Dhruv Chawla (VIIIA) attended World Scholar Cup at Maxfort on the first day and Radhakrishna Auditorium KV-2 on the second day. They all won medals and qualified for the Global Round. 26.10.2016-Kumar Ananya (X) and Abhinav Sharma (IX) secured the third position in the Symposium in Ignite and Axiom (Science and Mathematics Festival) held at Delhi Public School, Dwarka.

29.10.2016- Sneha (VE) and Apoorv Dubey (VID) won the first position in Create IT and Abhishek Chaudhary (XID) also won the first position in Respawn IT in “Mimansa” held at St. Mary’s School, Safdurjung Enclave

15.07.2016- We secured the second position in Zonal Badminton Sub Jr. Girls. 13.10.2016- At the Group Fencing event the Sr. Boys secured the second position, the Junior Boys won the third and Junior Girls won the first position at the Zonal Level.

15.10.2016- At the zonal rope skipping, we secured the first position in Jr. boys and second position in Sr. boys category.

22.10.2016- Harshit Sehrawat secured the second posi-tion at the state level and the first position at the district level. Aniresh Panwar secured the second position at the state level and the third position at the district level. Shubham Parate secured the third position at the state and the district level in the Fencing competition.

04.09.2016- Ms. Preeti Mehta (TGT, Computer Sci-ence) has been conferred with the 32nd Dr. S. Radha Krishnan Memorial National Teacher Award 2016 orga-nized by Akhil Bhartiya Swatantra Patrakar and Lekhak Sangh at Constitution Club of India, Delhi.

Keeping up with the belief that caring for and sharing with others is an important aspect of being human. We therefore urge our students to donate a handful of rice and pulses every week. Two canisters have been placed in the school building for this purpose. The collections would be forwarded to the needy.
