INDEX

th 1. Am certainly fortunate for being the 10 Vice Chancellor of this prestigious University and feel extremely indebted to the
Government of Kerala and Almighty Allah for giving me this wonderful opportunity. Today, I feel truly blessed and honored, having fulfilled such a gratifying professional career in working at the greatest state university, for a quadrennial.
th 2. Landed at Thenjipalam on the 12 August 2011, with a great fantasy of transmutation of an impaired institution to a
Next Generation University. Yes indeed, worked hard with a great passion and commitment, to make a great change. Dreams, endeavors and excitements, consistently were to create expeditiously a leading University that is student- centric, value-centric, knowledge centric, ever-green, ever clean, technology driven, fully digital, truly functioning and world-class, by optimally blending the richness of our heritage and the power of technology, embracing innovations, diversity, creativity, intelligence, humility and humanity. The other reflections that haunted me always were of ensuring equity, justice, excellence, inclusion and perfection.
3. I can cherish many-many icons of reminiscence of my beloved university. The intolerable pain that would remain forever would be the defeat in materializing the prestigious Golden Jubilee Memorial Block. Erosion of civility, humility and humanity are on the increase among many and I am worried and it should be curtailed. We need to be more good human beings, authentic, generous and genuine.
4. Faced with several memorable encounters, sweet and sour, untenable squabbles all the time, with great turbulence, array of agitations, attempts of murder at multiple times, both at office and home, targeting personally on me and my
th family. Unbelievable, the day 18 of March 2015, horrifying, barbaric and ruthless. It was evident undoubtedly that all those attempts were politically motivated or self-interest-driven, but I was saved by the grace of God at all times. Eventful journey it was, after executing great roles, often very challenging and rewarding, in the evolution of an outstanding university that ultimately created a great revolution in Education, Bureaucracy and the Society at large.  Thanks to each and every member of the Syndicate, Senate and Academic Council.
5. Let me record my deep sense of gratitude to the Hon'ble Chancellor Sri. Justice P. Sathasivam, Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri. Oommen Chandy, Hon'ble Industries Minister Sri. P.K. Kunhalikutty and Hon'ble Education Minister Sri. P.K. Abdu Rabb, for their boundless support.
6. No words to adequately acknowledge the immeasurable sacrifices made by my beloved wife Shameem Abdul Salam and loving daughters Anooja Abdul Salam and Amritha Abdul Salam, during the past four years. Tremendous obligations I have to innumerable persons in my university, but am unable to name them all. However, I must underline the boundless support received from Professor K. Raveendranath, the Pro Vice Chancellor, a unique person I have ever met in my life, with great honesty, integrity, commitment, courage, intelligence, values and trustworthiness, for creating a history.
th 7. Yes, perhaps, a bit tough and rough, I was in governance. But it was purely to legitimate a flawed system. 12 July 2015
was memorable and gratifying when the QS University Rankings- BRICS 2015 were announced. University of Calicut secured 101st rank at BRICS level (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa involving more than 5700 Universities), which was 201 during last year. Among this BRICS list of 200 top universities, there are 30 Indian-Institutions and
th University of Calicut is ranked 16 . Of this 30 institutions from India, only 22 are Universities and our University is
th ranked 7 . I feel immensely delighted and proud and thankful to God.
8. Leaving today with great contentment, I am sure, I will miss you all, the campus ambience, the mango trees, the ponds, the buildings, the roads, the turning points and curves along the roads, the stadium, the pavilion, the soil, the botanic garden, the park, the strikes, the encounters, the abuse, the notices and finally each and every one of you. While demitting office, let me pray Almighty to bless each and every one of you, with peace, health and happiness and also to bless our esteemed university to reach greater heights.
Happy to meet, Sorry to part, and Happy to meet again.
With Lots of Love

innovations, technology, diversity, creativity, intelligence, humility and humanity.
Yes, perhaps, a bit tough and rough I was, but it was necessary to legitimate an impaired
system. Erosion of civility is on the increase among many and it should be curtailed. We need
to be more good human beings, authentic, generous and genuine.
Happy to meet, Sorry to part, and Happy to meet again. May Almighty bless you all
Lots of Love
