St. Luke March News Go Make a Difference-Love the Lord with all your Lenten Prayer for Spiritual Renewal God, heavenly Father, look upon me and hear my prayer during this holy Season of Lent. By the good works You inspire, help me to discipline my body and to be renewed in spirit. Without You I can do nothing. By Your Spirit help me to know what is right and to be eager in doing Your will. Teach me to find new life through penance. Keep me from sin, and help me live by Your commandment of love. God of love, bring me back to You. Send Your Spirit to make me strong in faith and active in good works. May my acts of penance bring me Your forgiveness, open my heart to Your love, and prepare me for the coming feast of the Resurrection of Jesus. Lord, during this Lenten Season, nourish me with Your Word of life and make me one with You in love and prayer. Fill my heart with Your love and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ. Give me the grace to rise above my human weakness. Give me new life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass. Father, our source of life, I reach out with joy to grasp Your hand; let me walk more readily in Your ways. Guide me in Your gentle mercy, for left to myself I cannot do Your Will.

Teach me to find new life through penance. Keep me from sin, and help me live by Your commandment of love. God of love, bring me back to You. Send Your Spirit to make me strong in faith and active in good works. May my acts of penance bring me Your forgiveness, open my heart to Your love, and prepare me for the coming feast of the Resurrection of Jesus.Lord, during this Lenten Season, nourish me with Your Word of life and make me one with You in love and prayer.Fill my heart with Your love and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ. Give me the grace to rise above my human weakness. Give me new life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass.Father, our source of life, I reach out with joy to grasp Your hand; let me walk more readily in Your ways. Guide me in Your gentle mercy, for left to myself I cannot do Your Will.Father of love, source of all blessings, help me to pass from my of life of sin to the new life of grace.Prepare me for the glory of Your kingdom. I ask this through or Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit, on God, forever.

Amen.

Greetings from your Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.~ Ecclesiastes 3:20

We pray that as we approach Lent, each of our students may focus on this season of prayer, reflection, penance and fasting. Please encourage your children on their Lenten journeys as all of our schools mark the significance of the sacrifice made by our Lord, Jesus Christ,

In the coming weeks, we hope to share with all of our families a school year calendar for 2017-2018 as we wait for Ministry of Education approval. We also hope to learn more when the provincial budget is released later this month about what effect it will have on our school division. Our priority will always remain in the classroom, with our students.

We are beginning to transition our grade 8 students toward high school. This is a big step in the life of a child. Moving from the familiar classrooms of a cherished elementary school to the locker filled hallways of a secondary school can be scary. We pray that instead of bringing fear, it will bring excitement and the promise of great things to come for each student. Many hours go into smoothing the transition between grade 8 and grade 9, and we are most grateful to our teachers and staff who work so hard at this.

The transition into Kindergarten can also be an exciting time. Kindergarten registrations and PreKindergarten applications are still being accepted. To register your child, please contact your local school, or learn more about our Kindergarten program at http://www.rcsd.ca/?q=node/13.

Finally, we are preparing to bless our four new school buildings; Sacred Heart Community School, St. Nicholas School, St. Kateri Tekakwitha School and École St. Elizabeth. Staff and students are already moving into the new Sacred Heart building, while we wait until the fall to begin learning in the three completely new schools. It is an exciting time for the Regina Catholic School Division!

Breakfast for Learning

Our school's nutrition program is proudly funded by Breakfast for Learning. Thanks to their support, we are able to offer our students a healthy meal or snack during the school day.

Breakfast for Learning is a national charity that is committed to helping children across Canada realize their full potential in life by ensuring that all children attend school well nourished, and ready to learn, giving them the best chance of success in life.

As Canada's first charity focused on child nutrition, Breakfast for Learning has been helping support school based nutrition programs in every province and territory for almost 23 years.

Every school year, Breakfast for Learning funds up to a few thousand breakfast, lunch and snack programs, serving over 200,000 children and youth, and provides more than 44 million nourishing meals and snacks.

Since 1992, Breakfast for Learning has helped 3.6 million children enjoy over 554 million healthy meals and snacks. For more information, please visit breakfastforlearning.ca.

Student Behavior in the cab/van:

A reminder to students and parents that the transportation is an extension of the school, and that inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated by the drivers and will be reported to Mrs. Istace.

Mrs. Istace will deal with the incidents, and students will be removed from transportation for a temporary period of time or permanently if the student chooses to continue his/her inappropriate behavior.

If you have any transportation concerns, please contact the office and we will work together to solve the issues you may have.

High School:

If your child is ill or absent for any reason, please make sure to call and leave a message or email the office @ (306) 791-7248 or [email protected]

Elementary: If your child is ill or absent for any reason, please make sure to call and leave a message or email the office @ (306) 791-7248 or [email protected] Call Elena, the transportation Officer by 7:30 a.m. @ (306) 791-7214 or email her @ [email protected] Call child’s home school as well, if integrating.

Staff Parking Lot and Visitor Parking:

Please refrain from entering or parking in the Staff Parking Lot. All stalls are designated parking for Regina Catholic School staff and will be in use at some time throughout the day. Please do not park in front of the school designated for handicap/loading, as we need this area for our taxi cabs picking up and dropping off students throughout the day. Also, please do not park in front of the residents’ driveways across the street from the school.

Our Communication with the Community:

We will be continuing to use the SynreVoice program for communication with all of our families, which includes emails, phone messages or both. If you are not receiving any messages, or are having issues with the program, please call the school.

We are also utilizing an app “Remind 101”.

Remind offers teachers a free, safe and simple way to instantly text students & parents. Teachers, coaches, or administrators can send reminders, assignments, homework, assessments, or motivational messages directly to students' & parents' phones. Messaging is safe because phone numbers are kept private. Teachers save time because they can send quick, one-way Announcements, or opt-in to Chat for personalized communication with a student or parent. For students and parents, Remind provides an easier way to stay informed outside of the classroom. Teachers, students, and parents can download the Remind app to stay connected more easily.

Please contact your child’s teacher to get the code you will need to download the app.
