THE LOREM IPSUMS SUMMER 2016

AFTER three months of learning public speaking from our public speaking trainers, Ms Illya, Ms Elaine and Ms Khadijah, our students were more than ready to show off their prowess and in speaking English in public confidently.

The Sec 1 students wowed the audience with their slick moves and melodious delivery in the Poetry Slam. The Sec 2 students had their friends howling with laughter during their Story Telling competition, while the Sec 3 students tried their hand at discussing more serious issues such as people trafficking during their Talk Show. As for the Debates, the Sec 4 and 5 students were good, but ultimately, it was the all girl team of Dina, Tania and Audrey that won the judges’ favour.

Here are photos of some of the performers and winners during the English Week prize giving ceremony.

OUR MIGHTY MINDS DO US PROUD AGAIN

Battling against more than 140 teams, APSS was the only school that had finalists in both Upper and Lower secondary categories of the prestigious Selangor state Mighty Minds Challenge held in May at Jaya Shopping Centre, PJ. Even though we did not manage to bring back any State Champion title this year, our kids managed to grab the 4th and 5th spot for the Upper and Lower categories respectively! And this was after going through three grueling rounds (MCQs, Hands on Project and the final Buzzer round). Below are the APSS Mighty Minders that have done us proud: Upper Secondary team: 1. Mas Aisya Sofea - 4 Sc. 1 2. Yap Ee Ting - 4 Arts 1 3. Mak Ling Yan - 4 Arts 1 Lower Secondary team: 1. Firdaus Ahmad Farouk - 3 Neptune 2. Muhammad Zarif Danial - 3 Neptune 3. Umar Rashdan - 3 Neptune Our participants took home RM 500 and RM 300 cash money respectively, as their winning prize. Special thanks to the teacher coordinators - Ms. Soh Ya Lee & Ms. Rathi who had put a lot of effort in making this a success!
