Th e bri ef busine ss mee ting was followed at 7:30PM by a PowerPoint presentation by Ja- son Smile y. Mr . Smiley's program was entitled "The Devil's Cabinet : The Story of the Eddy Family of Spir- it Mediums." During th e mid to late 1800s the Eddy Family became world-ronowned as spirit mediums with tne alleged ability of generating full-bodied manifestations or "materializations" of the departed. The me eting always draws a large number of railroad buffs and the general public. Zak Randy Brown and Angela Hinchey were nomi- nated and ele cted to replace two directors who opted not to continue. Continuing Directors were Barbara Giffin, Corey Kennedy, and Dore en McCullough. - Submitt ed by Mary Segale, Chairperson of the Nominations Committee On the weekend of October 6th and 7th the Soci- ety held its annual sale. Members and friends of the Society provided numerous it ems for the sale . Th e variety, quality and quantity of the dona- tions for the sale always impresses those work- ing on the sale . The public finds that the prices of the items and very attractive and many i tems are sold on the first day. This ye ar the items left were offered at half price with few exceptions. The sale added over $1,000 to the Society trea - sury. The few items left were sent to the Open Door Mission. HALLOWEEN PARADE The parade was scheduled for Saturday the 27th of October, But very wet and cold weather caused a postponement to Sunday the 28th of October. (conti nued on page 2)

ANNUAL MEETING

This year the Annual Business Meeting of the Rutland Historical Society was held on Thurs ­day, October 18th, at 7:00PM at Tuttle Hall on the campus of the College of St. Joseph in Rut ­land. The brief business meeting was followed at 7:30PM by a PowerPoint presentation by Ja­son Smiley.

Mr. Smiley's program was entitled "The Devil's Cabinet : The Story of the Eddy Family of Spir­it Mediums." During the mid to late 1800s the Eddy Family became world-ronowned as spirit mediums with tne alleged ability of generating full-bodied manifestations or "materializations" of the departed. On Saturday September 29th J im Davidson and Doreen McCullough staffed a table at the Holi ­day Inn meeting sponsored by the Rutland Rail­way Association. Randy Brown and Angela Hinchey were nomi­nated and elected to replace two directors who opted not to continue.

The variety, quality and quantity of the dona ­tions for the sale always impresses those work­ing on the sale. The public finds that the prices of the items and very attractive and many items are sold on the first day. This year the items left were offered at half price with few exceptions.
