Activities—Monday 6/19 drive to range On Monday June 19th; 17 OVAHC member and 2 friend’s attended the OVAHC’s summer evening drive to, Learn, Shoot and Eat night at Premier Shooting & Training Center 4845 Premier Way, West Chester Township, OH. From 6 to 9 PM.

The Grabow’, Brown’s; Wolfer’; Klein’s; Duffey’s; young Jacobs’, old Jacobs’, Marlene Belle, Disk Sipple; Skip Jackson and Girish and Kigher (IT guys that work with John) attended the safety/overview of the various types of firearms given by Kelley our manager for the night at Premier.

The facilities are 1st rate, with 2 – isolated 10 lane ranges, with enclosed/windowed viewing

areas. The ranges are sound proof rooms such that the only one who hear the guns are those on the firing line in the range area. They have a large gun store, meeting rooms, dining area, outside covered patio overlooking a small lake.

Kelly explained the operations and how to safely unload each type of firearm (Auto, Revolver, Bolt and Lever Action) and fielded questions. After the class room, all had the opportunity to inspect the different types used in the presentation. By that time the delicious array of Subway sandwiches, soft drinks, chips/cookies were delivered and available in the dining area.

Then the attendees had the option to eat/socialize or utilize one of the 3 ranges available for our use.

Kelly became our private Range Safety Officer and offered tips on shooting techniques. We had a lot of 1st

time shooters or those that haven’t shot in years.

The vast majority took advantage of the range time. Scott/Eileen and Skip brought their own, while Jake and Don provid-ed a section to the group to try.

Kelly’s firearm of choice is a Glock 19, so we rented one from the range and a number of us tied it. Bernie may have come away with an idea for a future Christmas or Anniversary gift for Mary Ann.

The consensus was it a good time regardless if you shot or not and we should do it again.

I am looking for feedback. Probably would be a good cold weather activity; maybe a short personal safety/situational awareness talk, little more range time with an shooting instruc-tor.

What I learned; if you want to shoot, rent a lane ($25/hour) on Monday night. It is the best time to go a avoid the weekend crowds. We virtually had the facility and staff to ourselves.
