Staff changes

It is with a sad heart that we farewell 4 outstanding teachers from Terrigal High School. Mr Guthrie left us

during Term 4 as he was successful in securing a Head Teacher Science role at Brisbane Water Secondary

College and Mr Ward who has secured a Head Teacher Administration role at Erina High School and have

been respected leaders across the school community. Ms McCabe has worked with us in a casual capacity

throughout 2016 and 2017 secured a permanent position in Science at Erina High School. Ms McCabe is a

successful Science teacher and initiated the STEM club at Terrigal High. I wish each of these teachers well as

they progress their careers.

The final staff member leaving us Mr Falzon who, although officially retired 3 years ago, has continued

working in the English faculty and has had a long and successful career across a number of schools. Mr Falzon

will be travelling Australia next year and I wish him well in retirement.

A special congratulation goes to Eloise Price who has been selected to exhibit her project in the

2018 Texstyle Exhibition. Texstyle is an annual exhibition that profiles the excellence of

required in an outstanding project: creativity, a high degree of difficulty and quality

manufacturing techniques.

THE ILLUMINATE NEXTGEN BUSINESS CHALLENGE. Throughout week 7, our Year 10 students were involved in the Illuminate Nextgen Business Challenge. In teams of 6-7 students, each team came up with a business idea around the theme of 'sustainability' and during the course of the week, attended presentations on marketing, finance, note-taking, presentation skills etc, and were required to produce real world business documents, including a business plan, financial forecasts, idea pitches and marketing collateral. Throughout the week, lectures, presentations and pitch feedback and judging were delivered by local business and community leaders - experts in their fields, and we extend our thanks to these people for their valuable input, once again. Points were awarded to teams for each part of the challenge.
