Welcome to our 2013 newsletter. In this issue, we are
delighted to share with you some of the activities
organized by our Branch with assistance of CIPS (Youth
Forum) (“CIPSY”).
As Hong Kong has moved away from being a
manufacturing base, it has evolved a role as a "Global
Supply Chain & Sourcing Hub" and in particular for
apparel in the worldwide market. In response to the
changes of the marketplace, CIPS is well positioned to
support this role with training, qualifications and
development of organizations by a variety of services.
Young purchasing professionals are being groomed with
CIPS support of local institutions that deliver accredited
degree and sub-degree programmes such as CityU,
PolyU, IVE, etc.
Last but not least, with developing economies emerging in
the region there is further globalization of the profession,
thus the need for qualified purchasing and sourcing
professionals has never been greater. Having
professional credentials on purchasing and supply
management will become increasingly important and
continue to be the major focus.
