Welcome everybody to week three. It was great to see Toogoolawah State School Students represen ng our school with pride
last Friday at the Lowood Districts Athle cs Carnival. I thank everybody for their efforts in making the day a success, including
those students and staff who a ended the event but also those back at school who ensured the day was successful. A special
thank you to Jo Rollston for organising the day and the efforts of our P&C to ensure that everyone was fed.
As many of you are aware Reading is the #1 Priority for Toogoolawah State School. We are fortunate to have a wealth of
knowledge both within our school and across the region to access so that this priority is given the a en on it deserves. With
the beginning of Semester 2, the team are commi ed to further develop their skills and knowledge regarding effec ve reading
and comprehension strategies. In the coming weeks, staff will be engaging in Professional Development provided by the region
to begin a concrete path for our school community to walk along. It is an exci ng me to develop the needs and abili es of our
young readers and I look forward to keeping parents, carers and community updated on this key ini a ve.
Parent/Teacher interviews wrapped up yesterday a ernoon. It was great to see so many Parents and Carers engaging with
their children’s teachers. The informa on gleaned from these interviews allow us to set goals and targets for the coming
semester. A simple way to engage with your children is to ask what their current reading level is. Have they improved since
the beginning of the year? These conversa ons are important with students so that everybody is working to ensure that
students achieve success.
Next week there will be a change to our parade process. Our parade will be held on Thursday 3/8 at 2:15pm. Mrs Stacey Beu
and the team from Toogoolawah State High School will be visi ng our school to talk with our school community around the
upcoming Open Day and Careers Expo to be held on August 15 at the high school. All parents and community are invited to
a end this parade to find out about the event.
Have a great week. Jonathan Case, Principal

What is PBL???
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a whole school approach for creating a positive, safe and supportive school in which students can learn and develop. This approach involves the school community working together. All staff are responsible for teaching the behaviour expectations, providing consistent positive feedback to students, and delivering consistent corrective feedback and consequences when expectations are not followed. The entire school, including the classrooms, playground, tuckshop, school gates and buses, is considered part of the total learning environment.
