Velas Vallarta offers exquisit dishes in all its restaurants but Dino’s Pizzas have definitely been for many years the guests’ big favorite.

They have a huge variety of flavors and styles suchs as the Margherita, Hawaian, Pomodoro, Pepperoni, Salmone affumicato (with smoked salmon and capers); Gamberi “Cajún” (with shrimps, sausage and Cajún spices); Tonno e gamberi (with tuna and shrimps), among others.

On the other hand, lovers of sweets and desserts will find the “Mela e Cannella” pizza (with apple, cheese, custard, cinnamon and sugar); the “Fragola” (with strawberry, cheese, custard and sugar); and the latest addition to the menu: The “Pera” pizza with pear, cheese, custard and sugar.

The Distintivo “H” (Hygiene Award) is a certification granted by both Mexican Secretariat of Tourism and Secretariat of Health in coordination with other public and private organizations, oriented to quality, hygiene and security in the preparation, administration and manipulation of the food offered in different establishments of the country.

Velas Vallarta and Casa Velas proudly obtained this award. Representatives of 12 hotels of Puerto Vallarta and important professionals attended to the main event. They were: Alejandro Andrade Domínguez, General Manager of Secrets 6 Now Amber hotels; Teresita Marmolejo, President of the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco) in Puerto Vallarta; Hilario Pérez León, General Director of the Touristic Certification of Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur, as it's referred to in Mexico). In representation of Arturo Dávalos Peña, Municipal President of Puerto Vallarta was Magaly Fregoso; Francisco Maass Peña, Under-Secretary of Quality & Regulation of Sectur; Dr. Víctor Manuel Mijangos Castellanos, General Director of Planning and Development of touristic Destinations of Secturjal (Secretariat of Tourism of Jalisco); Dr. Raymundo Joel Partida Dueñas, Health Services Coordinator at VII Sanitary Jurisdiction of Secretariar of Health and Social Welfare in en Jalisco; Mr. Álvaro Garciarce Monraz, President of the Hotel & Motel Association of Puerto Vallarta; and Mrs. Evangelina Sánchez Dueñas, President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Food in Puerto Vallarta.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit ups the ante for its littlest guests with a new baby Spa treatment, a complement to the AAA Five Diamond resort’s Baby Concierge and Baby’s First Haircut Service currently offered.

Stimulating the baby's senses and central nervous system, the Sunrise Massage (25 min/$65 USD) promotes sensory and cognitive development. For babies 1-3 years old, the treatment encourages babies to differentiate textures and sounds to the tunes of Mozart.

The resort also offers baby’s first haircut, which comes with special pampering and a certificate celebrating the milestone, and a Baby Concierge who can coordinate everything from a crib, Mexican toys, baby floats, and baby clothes to nanny service and gentle bath and shampoo gels prior to arrival. In addition, the hotel will prepare organic foods and beverages on request.

This cocktail was added recently to the gastronomic offer of Grand Velas Riviera Maya and it is available in the Ceviche Bar of the Ambassador ambiance. You can make the following recipe at home!

INGREDIENTES

•1 ½ oz - Unaged mezcal•½ T - Maggi sauce•½ T - Worcestershire sauce•2 dash – Tabasco sauce•2 T - Octopus, cooked and diced

•5 oz. - Amber Beer•5 oz. - Clamato juice•1 cooked octopus tentacle•1 stalk - Celery•½ lime, juice only•Salt for rim

Method:

First, rim a beer mug with lime and salt. Next, pour mezcal, lime juice, Worcestershire, Tabasco and Maggi Sauce in the mug. Then, add the diced octopus. Fill half the mug with beer and the rest with Clamato. Finally garnish with a cucumber stick and the tentacle.
