1. In a bowl, place citric acid, baking soda, cornstarch, and oil.

2. Add 8-10 drops of the essential oil(s) of your choice.

Note: Choose an essential oil to best suit your needs. The options are endless. For relaxation, try Lavender or Serenity. For a mood boost, try Wild Orange, Citrus Bliss, or Grapefruit. For a decongestant, try Eucalyptus or Breathe Respiratory Blend.

4. Mix well with a spoon or with your hands until a soft dough is formed. It should have the consistency of damp sand. At this point you could also add food coloring, dried herbs, or f lower petals to the mixture. If the mixture is too wet, try adding a litt le more baking soda and cornstarch until the consistency is right.

5. Put the mixture into a sil icone mold. Let it sit for at least 24 hours before removing from mold.

6. If you don?t have a sil icone mold, you could use cupcake liners or saran wrap to help mold your bath bombs.

7. The bath bombs are ready to use once they are completely dry. To use, just drop them in the tub/shower until they dissolve.

Bath bombs are excellent gif ts for both adults and children. When making for kids, try adding some color to the mixture. Not only will they love when the water changes colors, but will also love the f izz and bubbles from the bath bomb as well.

DIY: BATH BOMBFast-Fizzing Bath Bombs Made with Essential Oils

Creating a spa like environment in your home can easily be done using simple household ingredients and essential oils.

Bath bombs are a fun way to add excitement to your senses while enjoying the benefits of essential oils. They are also entertaining to use, and are loved by both kids and adults alike; because really, who doesn?t love a bath that f izzles?!

Even if you don?t have a bathtub, these bath bombs can stil l be effective in a shower. The water will help dissolve the bath bomb and release the aroma of the essential oils into the steam.

Which i s m ost im por t an t : Diet , Exerci se, or Sleep?

Everyone knows that diet and exercise are key components of any healthy li festyle. Another key pillar of health, equally important and arguably even more so, is sleep. Although the amount of sleep a person needs varies, experts recommend that adults get at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night (1) . Unfortunately, about 33 percent of Americans are not get t ing the recommend amount of sleep per night , and approximately one in f ive adults in the United States experience occasional sleeplessness or dif f iculty sleeping (2) . There are many factors that can negat ively impact how much (and how well) a person sleeps, from family ( think newborn baby), to the conveniences of modern li fe ( like 24-hour access to technology), to varying work schedules (3) , quality and age of mat t resses and pillows (4) , and don?t forget consumpt ion of alcohol, nicot ine, and caffeine. This list can go on and on, and far too often sleep is the f irst thing that many of us neglect in order to meet the demands of our busy schedules.

Why Is Sleep So Im por t an t ?

Sleep doesn?t exist to just pass t ime or to keep us from working 24 hours a day. Sleep is important because it is inherent ly physically and mentally healing, and it allows for our bodies to not only recoup from the st ress of everyday li fe, but also to recharge and refocus. Depriving your body of sleep has been associated with many health risks and places a t remendous burden on virtually every organ system in your body. Lack of adequate sleep

affects our abili ty to lose, or maintain, a healthy weight ; inf luences how we feel, learn, and behave; and negat ively impacts our cardiovascular health and overall well-being. Even more important ly, not get t ing enough sleep can reduce react ion t ime and interfere with our abili ty to drive (3) . The inabili ty to drive safely not only puts those in the car at risk, but also those with whom we share the road. In short , the less sleep you get , the less opportunity you give your body to heal and prepare itself for the following day, reducing overall quality of li fe.

So What Can I Do About I t ?

Of course, li fe will always f ind a way to present obstacles that are out of our control, f rom a sick child to a last m inute work project to a neighbor in need. Each of these will undoubtedly affect how we sleep. However, we must focus on what we can control, and fortunately there are several t ips and techniques that you can apply to help ensure you are not only get t ing enough sleep but also get t ing quality sleep.

Tips f or a Bet t er Nigh t ?s Sleep

1. Eat Wel l an d M ain t ain a Heal t hy Exerci se Rout in e ? Eat ing a healthy diet and get t ing plenty of exercise keeps our weight in check, but i t also helps with sleep. Eat ing high carbohydrate foods f loods the muscles with glucose, causing involuntary muscle movements during sleep, which disrupts rest . Exercising too close to bedt ime ramps up metabolism and body temperature and can make it dif f icult to fall asleep. If you get hungry before bed, t ry snacking on a hand full of nuts. Nuts provide

protein and fat , which are not only sat isfying, but are slowly digested, which can provide a calm sleep, and rich in magnesium, a m ineral that helps to calm the nervous system.

2. M ain t ain a Rhyt hm ? Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule, going to bed at the same t ime and waking up at the same t ime. Creat ing this rhythm helps regulate your body?s internal clock and may help you sleep bet ter.

3. Just Say No t o Alcohol , Caf f ein e, Nicot i n e, an d Elect ron ics? Al l of t hese can m ak e goin g t o sleep di f f i cul t . Don?t drink alcohol or caffeinated drinks too close to bedt ime. Remove all electronics from the bedroom, including TVs, computers, and other electronic devices. Try to avoid bright light at least an hour before going to bed. Darkness will help your body begin producing melatonin, a hormone that naturally regulates sleep. To help keep your internal clock in balance, be sure to expose yourself to sunlight in the morning, which naturally tells your body to wake up.

4. Keep Cool ? M ak e sure your bedroom i s a quiet , dark , an d relax in g en vi ron m en t , w h ich i s n ei t her t oo hot , n or t oo cold. Your bed and pillows should be support ive, yet comfortable. If you experience shoulder, hip, or back pain in the morning, you can be sure you did not rest as well as you could have. It may be t ime for new bedding.

5. W in d Dow n ? Your body needs t ime to shif t into sleep mode, so spend the last hour before bed doing a calm ing act ivity such as reading or taking a warm bath. Certain drinks,

Page 5: NEWSLETTER - EssentiallyLiving.ca · arguably even more so, is sleep. Although the amount of sleep a person needs varies, experts recommend that adults get at least seven to eight

such as chamomile tea, may be relax ing and non-st imulat ing.

6. Use Calm ing Essent ial Oils ? Essent ial oi ls like Lavender and Bergamot are rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, compounds that have well-known relaxing propert ies. These oils can be dif fused aromat ically in the bedroom to create a calm ing and peaceful environment, perfect for get t ing a good night?s sleep. They can also be used topically and taken internally to calm the nervous system, promote relaxat ion, and lead to a rest ful sleep. Try placing two to four drops of Lavender or Bergamot essent ial oi l in a warm, herbal tea (Chamomile, Lemongrass, etc.) , or another favorite uncaffeinated beverage about 30 m inutes before going to bed, or add two to four drops of Lavender into an empty capsule and swallow about 30 m inutes before bed.

d?TERRA Silver - The average Silver makes: $26,000/year

I was introduced to essential oils and specif ically d?TERRA essential oils in June 2015 as a result of sleep issues. Lavender

to the rescue. At the time, I had no idea what essential oils were. My husband had always used oil of oregano when feeling a f lu

coming on but I had no idea that it was an essential oil or why it seemed to work at warding off the f lu. Although the lavender

helped me sleep, I held off on buying any oils until I did my own research. The more I learned about the oils and the more I

learned about d?TERRA as a company I realized I had stumbled onto something great. I bought my f irst kit at the end of August, decided in September to do the business full-t ime, had a couple

of my f irst one on ones in October and countless of classes in November. 4 months later I am Silver. It?s been a lot of fun, it?s been hard work but very fulf il l ing and satisfying when I see the success that people are having with the oils. I never get t ired of the texts, phone calls or emails from my customers tell ing me

how the oils have helped them. I have met some amazing people and have a great team of customers and builders. I am also part of a bigger team that provides great leadership and

support. d?TERRA has allowed me to combine my love of people, my passion for health and wellness and my skill for

teaching to help others in amazing ways and the added income is a bonus. I can't wait to see what the rest of 2016 has in
