Book Week Celebrating the importance of reading and encouraging our students to read every day is a critical part of their development. Thank you to all staff for having fun and dressing up to promote reading. Once again thank you to our school community for supporting our students.

Friends of Ashcroft A very HUGE thank you to this very special group of mums who have organised a variety of events and fundraisers this year. This term they focussed on Father’s Day and the sausage sizzle for our athletics carnival. I am so impressed with their ability to work as a team and to contribute to the school. We have also held Parent Forums to review and revise school Wellbeing Policies. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you Friends of Ashcroft, thank you.

Support Unit In 2020 Ashcroft Public School will establish a Support Unit. The support unit will cater for students in infants who have Autism. We are very excited about the establishment of this new class as it will further support inclusive education.

OOPS We experience more little accidents at this time of year due to the changing weather conditions. It would be appreciated if our Kindergarten and Stage 1 students always have a change of clothes in their bag to help make those little OOPS moments less uncomfortable for them.

Head Lice

Unfortunately, we currently have a problem at school with head lice. Head lice are spread from person to person mainly by hair to hair contact. Head lice are only pin-head sized and very difficult to see. The eggs however, are white and can be more easily seen. They are most commonly found attached to the hairs at the back of the neck and behind the ears. Please examine your child carefully and regularly. It would be helpful if the entire family could be checked regularly to catch any infestations early.

Student Medical Conditions It is very important to let us know if your child’s health care needs change or if new health conditions develop. Information about allergies, medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes and other health care related issues should be provided to the school by parents. This includes providing information from your Doctor including Asthma Management Plans, Ascia Action Plans and Diabetes Management Plans. We must have this information to implement your child’s individual health care plan and if necessary an Emergency Response Plan. Please contact the office to request the necessary paperwork. This will greatly assist us in planning to support your child’s health and wellbeing.

Stage 3 Canberra & Snow Camp Our Stage 3 students have recently undertaken, an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
