Helping children be the best they can beDear Parents, Governors and Children,

WELL DONEWell Done to Ethan Marsden who has passed Level 4 in the Kelloggs ducklingsswimming awards

RECEPTION CLASS PHOTOSFREE PRESS, FIRST CLASS SUPPLEMENT

The Reception class children have had their photos taken as part of the DoncasterFree Press First Class supplement. We are informed that there will be two

supplements over a two week period so that all the Doncaster schools canfeature. At this moment in time we are led to believe that the children formBalby Central will be in the First Class supplement on the Thursday 8thOctober. If for any reason their photo does not appear then, it will be in thefollowing week.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHSWe thought you would appreciate advance notice of the school photographer

coming to take individual and family photographs on Wednesday 28

    th

September. We have sent a separate letter on green paper, asking whichchildren you would like on your family photograph (if you have more than onechild in school) and giving details of photographing pre-school children. Please complete and return the reply slip on the green letter before thephotographer arrives. Thank you.

ASTHMA INHALERSWe are finding that a number of children, who are recorded as suffering with asthma,do not seem to have their inhalers with them at school. If your child does have aninhaler, please make sure that it is in date, and they have it with them at school. This

is particularly important on Thursday for the Year 5 swimming group, and for outdoorPE lessons. Thank you.

INDOOR AND OUTDOOR PE KITWe would like to let you know that your child WILL need an indoor PE kit thatcan be left in schoo l, consisting of a plain white tee shirt, black shorts andpumps. An outdoor kit is also necessary, which can be a tracksuit (no logosplease) or jogging bottoms and trainers. The outdoor kit may need takinghome to wash if it gets muddy, but the indoor kit will not need washing everyweek. Please make sure your child has this kit in school they get very

disappointed when they cannot take part in the lesson because they have no kit.Thank you for your support.

FRIENDS OF WESTFIELD PARK (FOWP)We would like to introduce FoWP. We want to improve the facilities andpromote activities within the park. FoWP aims to improve the area tobenefit the local community. Some of you may use the park with yourchildren, walk your dogs, enjoy leisure time or use it as a short cut toBalby Road. We need your support and we are encouraging people to

take part and there are roles within FoWP on the committee and forsupporting members. If interested please contact Maggie on the following email address [email protected]

DOGS, BIKES AND SCOOTERSWe are asking you to please not bring dogs, bikes or scooters on tothe school site. Dogs (even friendly ones) can sometimesfrighten children, or become frightened and unpredictablethemselves when in a crowd. Our playground becomes very busyat the start and end of the day so we would appreciate your co-operation in this matter. Similarly, bikes and scooters are not

appropriate on the playground, for health and safety reasons. Wewould also ask that you are mindful of the crowded pavements when you are leaving

school. We have had reports of some children being pushed off the pavement due to lack ofattention being paid. Thank you.

COLLECTING CHILDRENIf someone other than yourself is collecting your child, for whatever reason, pleaseinform your childs class teacher or telephone the school office. The safety of ourchildren is of paramount importance so we need to be aware of any changes to thenormal collection routines. Thank you.

PARKING AND CROSSING LITTLEMOOR LANEWe are currently experiencing problems with parking round school. Please do NOTpark on the zig-zag lines in front of the school, as this is a parking offence. The

Community Police are currently doing spot-checks, and parking onthese lines can result in an instant fine, as happened on

Thursday morning. Also, please be aware that if there is noCrossing Patrol warden and no-one from the Safer Neighbourhood team isavailable to cross children over the road, school staff are not allowed toperform this duty. DMBC have left us in no doubt that we should not try to

take the place of these wardens, so please impress upon your children theneed to be vigilant if they cross unaccompanied. Similarly, please park sensitively when you bringand collect your children, bearing in mind not blocking our neighbours drives or double parking andcausing problems for children trying to cross the roads. Thank you for your co-operation.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR NEWSLETTERWe are encouraging the children to contribute to ourweekly newsletter with stories, pictures and items ofinterest they have done in the classroom our outsideschool. The contributions this week are from Year 6Orange class. Look out for more class contributions in

    the coming weeks
