The first Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970. At its beginning,

20 million Americans are widely credited with launching the

modern environmental movement. The passing of the

Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon

people in 141 countries and bringing environmental issues onto

the world stage. More than 1 billion people now participate in

Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic

observance in the world.

Let’s continue to keep our planet green and clean! Here are some

harvest to provide irrigation to the lushly landscaped roof garden

on the 6th floor and the expansive landscaped plaza. 540 West

Madison is the first and only multi-tenant commercial building in

Chicago to have this type of rainwater harvesting system.
