InthesedayswethinkofEricwhodiedonDecember18lastyear.Withallpeoplewetry

toensurethathislife'sworkwillgooninWa.Whenwelookbackatthistumultuousyear,wecanhappilysaythatitgoeswellwiththe

childrenandtheorganizationofWaYiri.Lookingbackwedoofcoursefromadistance,intheNetherlands.Butlastyear,anumberof

peoplevisitedChildSupportinWaandhavecomebackwithpositivestoriesaboutthelivingconditionsofthechildrenandthe

organizationheadedbyDanielSeiduandmothers.TonandTrudyvanArkelvisitedthechildrenofChildSupportlastNovemberand

inthisnewslettertheyreportabouttheirexperiences.

Ofcoursethereareplentyofchallengesaheadforthepeopletheretosolve.Buttheboard

hereisalsobusyintheNetherlands.ThedisappearanceofourcentipedeEricrevealedsomeuncertaintiesinthisorganization.I

wroteaboutthisinthelastnewsletter.Becauseofhisabsencethelinkbetweenthe

childrenandtheirfosterfamiliesbecameunclear:paymentsbyfosterfamiliesnolonger

runsmoothlyandlackofinformationwhichchildrenhaveleft.Welackmanyaddresses,soitisdifficulttogetintouchwithour

relationshipsoutsideGhana.TheWebsiteisbarelymaintainedinthislastyear.Thisyeartherehaven’tbeenanyvolunteers.Theboard

intheNetherlandsisactiveinsolvingtheseproblems.Fortunately,wedon’thavetodoitalone.

LastDecember10wemetinUtrechtwitha

numberofrelationsfromtheverybeginning.Wereportinthisnewsletteraboutthispositivemeetinginwhichmanypeoplehave

offeredassistancetohelpChildSupportGhana.

Ofcourseyourfinancialcontributionsarethemostimportantfactorinasuccessful

continuationofChildSupportinWa.Whetherasafosterfamily,asamemberoftheclubof100orinterestedpeoplewhooccasionally

donatesomemoney.AllthesecontributionssupportthecontinuityofthecareforchildreninWa.DanielSeiduisworkinghardinGhana

togathersomenecessaryincomeinadditiontoyourdonations.

Finally,IwouldliketowishyouawonderfulChristmasandthebestwishesfor2017.Ialso

AMESSAGETOOURSPONSORSThedaysrunfast;likeasnapofthefingers,theyearhasalreadyrunitsfullcourseanda

newyearisalreadydawning.Onexactlythesamedaylastyear,ourgoodfriendandpapa,PapaEric,leftus.

Hewasforus,thefaceofallofyoukindheartedpeopleofTheNetherlands,whohavevoluntarilydecidedtomakeourburdensyour

own.Heconnecteduswithyouandhissuddenpassingaway,leftuswonderingwhatourfate

wasgoingtobe.Thefuturesimplylookedbleakandempty.Oneyearonhowever,wecanattesttothe

genuinenessofyourcommitmenttothecoursethatEricstoodfor,andpersuadedyoualltojoinin.

WeparticularlyappreciatetheeffortofChairmanBasandtheDutchBoardintryingto

galvanizetheactiveparticipationofallthefriendsandsponsorsofChildSupport.Weequallyacknowledgeandappreciatethe

sacrificesofallthefosterfamilieswhosecontributionshavekepttheorganizationmoving.Onbehalfofallthegirlswhoarethe

mainbeneficiariesofyourhardworkandcontributions,Ithankyouforkeepingfaithwithus.

ChildSupportChildren’shomenowhas34girls.

ThispastJune,threeofourgirlssuccessfullycompletedJuniorHighSchoolandareallcurrentlyinSecondarySchools.The

interestingthingaboutthisisthat,theoneamongstthethreewhohadthebestgrades,

andgotadmittedtoaverygoodSecondarySchool,wasagirlwhowasfoundinthe

marketsellingandwaspickedupagainstthewishesofherAntiandputinschool.

AnotherthreeareintheirfinalyearofJuniorHighnowandwillbesittingtheirfinalexamnextJune.Therestinthelowerformsareall

takingtheirschoolingseriouslyastheyunderstandthattheircontinuousstayintheHomeislargelydependentontheirgood

performanceinschool.Thishopefulsituationisnothoweverwithout

challenges.Atthemoment,ouronlysourceoffundingisthecontributionswereceivefromthefosterfamilies.Thatisonlyjustenoughto

caterforthefeedingandschoolingofthechildreninthehome.Otherequallyimportantbasicneedssuchasclothing,soap,etc,and

alsomaintenanceofthehomeandotherneedfulprogressworkdonothaveabudget.Anevenmoredisturbingsituationisthe

irregularpaymentofcontributionbysomeofourlovingfosterfamilies,whichisthreateningtomakeitimpossiblefortheDutchBoardto

beabletokeepassistingtheorganization.Thissituationnotwithstanding,dayindayout,

extendedfamilyrelationsarecomingandseekingtohaveorphanedgirlsorgirlsfromverypoorfamiliesadmittedtotheHome.But

thelackoffundsdoesnotpermitastogivetheneededassistance.

ManagementthereforewishestotakethisopportunitytoappealtoallsympathizersofthecourseofChildSupport,topleaseassistus

insecuringthefutureoftheorganization,andalsohelpallthesechildrenwhoneedourhelp.

VisitingWaLastNovemberwevisitedChildSupport.We

werewonderinghoweverybodywasdoing

afterthedeathofEric.Inaddition,wewanted

toshowthekidsandmothers,westillwantto

supportthemandstillfeelverysympathetic

withawarmheart.

Fortunately,wecanreportthatwewent

homewithahappyfeeling!Everythinggoes

fine!Thechildrenlookedhappy,healthy,well-

fedandwelldressed.Theatmospherewas

excellentasusualatthecompound.

Wesleptinthecompoundsothatwecould

experiencethechildren(andmothers)24

hoursaday.OnSaturdayafternoonwe

arrivedandonTuesdaymorningweleftagain.

Itwasnicetohavebothaweekenddayasa

daywithschoolgoingchildren:sowecould

enjoytheirpresencefor2days.Sonicetosee

howtheyenjoyplayingwithsolittle.They

lookaftereachotherandhelpeachother.

Argumentordisagreement:wehavenotseen!

Theyallhave"chores"anditisheldtightlyto

thehand.

Praiseforthemothers.Everythingruns

smoothlywithouthavingtheideathatthey

havetostruggleforit.

timesadaytoseeifeverythinggoeswell.The

administrationwasneatlyorganized.Each

childhadafileofdata,reports,medical

recordsetc.ThechildrenwerehangingonDan

astheydidwithEric.OnSundayafternoonhe

givesthemafewhoursofEnglishlessons.

Severalchildrenwrotealettertotheirfoster

parents.Wewereamazedabouthowwell

theyhavemasteredtheEnglishlanguage.
