Considered by some to be one of the greatest films ever made, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is about Randle Patrick McMurphy’s stay at a mental instuon and the bale of wills between the rebellious McMurphy and Nurse Ratched, who runs the psychiatric ward. Enjoy fresh hot popcorn while you watch the film. VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: SEAN GALLAGHER Volunteer Sean Gallagher has been helping at the front desk for the past year. He is also an acve member of the CSC, serving on the Steering Commiee and the Hospitality Commiee. Sean and his family have lived in Calabasas for twenty years and his children aended the Las Virgenes School system. “I enjoy helping people who come into the Center - - no task is too small or too big. I get a lot of sasfacon from volunteering at the front desk”, Sean states. Sean grew up in New Jersey and aended the University of Arizona. He earned a Master’s degree from the Wharton School of Business. He has worked in the healthcare field, and specifically in the bio-medical industry. His specialty was sales and markeng for implantable medical devices. Sean also vol- unteers by helping friends who are recovering from surgery. DECEMBER MOVIE MATINEE

Join us on Friday, December 21st at

2:00pm for the film “One Flew Over the

Cuckoo's Nest”, a 1975 American comedy

-drama film directed by Miloš Forman,

starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletch-

er. Considered by some to be one of the

greatest films ever made, One Flew Over

the Cuckoo's Nest is about Randle Patrick McMurphy’s

stay at a mental institution and the battle of wills between

the rebellious McMurphy and Nurse Ratched, who runs

the psychiatric ward. Enjoy fresh hot popcorn while you

Volunteer Sean Gallagher has been helping at

the front desk for the past year. He is also an

active member of the CSC, serving on the

Virgenes School system. “I enjoy helping people who come into

the Center - - no task is too small or too big. I get a lot of

satisfaction from volunteering at the front desk”, Sean states.

Registration For Winter Classes & Excursions

Registration for classes will begin soon! You can regis-

ter in the comfort of your home, or in person at the Calabasas Senior Center.

The Winter Calabasas Recreation Brochure will be available at the Calabasas Senior Center by Monday, December 10th.

Registration will take place in stages, depending on whether or not you are a Calabasas resident and also whether or not you have become a member of the Senior Center.

• On Monday, December 17th at 9:00 a.m., paid

How to Sign Up for Emergency Notifications

from the City of Calabasas

The City of Calabasas has a City-to-Resident communications service that sends emergency information to residents’ home phones, cell phones, e-mails and text messaging. This is very valuable information during fires, earthquakes and floods.

Here is the step- by- step procedure for signing up by computer for the City of Calabasas Mass Notification System:

1) Go to www.cityofcalabasas.com website:

2) On the right side of the screen, scroll down and click on “Connect With Calabasas”

3) On the next screen, click on the words “Click Here For Email Notifications From the City of Calabasas”

4) On the resulting screen, click on the words “Blackboard Connect CTY – Sign Up Here”

5) On the resulting page, it will take you to the web por-tal. In the lower right corner, click on “Sign Me Up!” Fill out the information and click “Continue”. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. Follow the instructions in the email to complete your registration.

In addition, for notifications of City Council meetings, commission agendas, project updates, monthly news and other interesting notices, go back to the page entitled, “Connect with Calabasas” and check the boxes of the items you wish to receive via e-mail.

MOVIE CLUB The Movie Club has several movies for the month of December. See as many as you wish and join us

Gardening Club: People have expressed an interest in revitalizing the Gardening Club. If you are interested, please e-mail Bob-

bie Miller at: [email protected]. This club will appeal to people interested in gardening, gardens, landscaping, nature, and all that goes with the great outdoors. Topics of interest are discussed in the meetings. Meetings will be about learning, sharing, and

socializing, all centered around the broad topic of gardening. You do not have to be an active gardener to enjoy this group.

CLUB HIGHLIGHT: BRIDGE CLUB

Would you like to join an enjoyable and often chal-

lenging club? You can explore the art of bridge and have tons

of fun while making new friends. Whether you have a partner

or not, you are welcome to join and play. Although games can

be competitive, we all like to be social and would be very ex-

cited if you can come. It doesn’t matter if you’re advanced,

intermediate or even a beginner—all are welcome. The

Bridge Club meets every Thursday from 10:30am-12:30 noon.

We play both contract and rubber bridge. Call Bruce at (818)

MEXICAN TRAIN & TEAM TRIVIA CLUBS

The Mexican Train Club has been restarted and will meet

every other Thursday from 1:00-4:00pm beginning Thursday,

December 13th at the CSC. Leader Alan Wills can teach you to

play in less than five minutes.

Team Trivia is another Club being revisited, and will meet

every other Monday from 1:00-4:00pm beginning Monday,
