Leda has recently finished a very successful financial year with revenue growth achieved by all branches.During the year our dedi-cated engineering and project management staff completed a large number of difficult and technically challenging projects. My thanks to all the dedicated Leda employees involved.

While our Ningbo (China) factory continues to develop through international distribution of our “Se-curabike” bicycle parking products, it is fortunately not at the expense of our Australian staff where employee numbers have grown by over 10% in the past year.

“Securabike” websites have been completed and are now active in New Zealand, USA, United King-dom, India and China, with quality, competitive product being shipped directly from our Ningbo plant. The Leda product range has seen further development and testing of many new products in each of our four divisions. Most of these new products have been designed in house by our Tuggerah based design and engineering staff reinforcing Leda’s commitment to “be the market leader” in all industries in which we operate.

Some of these products which we thought might be of interest have been featured in this newsletter.

Sales of our BBRS01 bike repair station are continuing to grow as more and more potential clients become aware of the station and how it can assist cyclists.

units have now been supplied and installed at numerous office build-ings and university campuses around the country.

The repair station incorporates a foot pump and pressure gauge as well as eight various tools that cyclists require when carrying out maintenance or repairs on their bicycles.

Access Control / Card Reader Bollards

An attractive “SBD” bollard has been recently added to the Leda card reader range. There are 3 reader plate options available and the units can be supplied in powder coated steel or stainless steel. It’s installed at Commonwealth Bank headquarters, Darling Walk Sydney.

oval Pedestrian Bollards – “Help Speed Pedestrian Flow Rates”

While Leda’s “Slimline” and “Regal” bollards remain the most popular architectural bollards in Australia the range has been bolstered by the addition of a new oval range.

The oval bollard range is available in “locking and removable”, fixed and base plate models.

They are ideal for use in high traffic flow locations such as at railway stations, shopping centres and sporting venues. This follows studies conducted in the uK that identified that the narrower oval shape created less pedestrian hesitation and improved pedes-trian flow rates.

Power Distribution Bollards Stainless option

our popular Titan 200 and 300NB power distribution bollards are now available in stainless steel.

The stainless steel option is avail-able on both the single and two door models with our standard lin-ished finish or electro polished.

Leda’s staff are currently completing the updating of two of our comprehensive product handbooks. We endeavour to update these technical manuals on a regular basis to ensure information and product details are current as well as capturing and highlighting design changes, improvements or any additional options.

Both handbooks will initially be available digitally as downloads from our website www.ledasecurity.com.au.

The new Securapost Bollard Handbook has four main product groups

– Designer Bollards– Security– Retractable– Industrial

Providing architects and specifiers with a diverse product range of over 500 models to select from.

“Doors and Loading Dock Handbook”

This is Leda’s newest division and once again we have developed a com-prehensive range of industrial doors and loading docks that we hope will set new industry standards.

ATo Bike Rack Installation

A combination of Securabike products were recently installed by Leda at the new Australian Taxation office in Brisbane. The facility is designed to cater for over 150 cyclists. Particular detail was given to providing ample maneu-vering space for the users by the architect.

Assisting the builder Grocon, Leda’s Brisbane office installed a combination of both horizontal and vertical bicycle storage racks to best utilise the space available.

you can see featured in the pho-tograph a number of our popular CBR4SC racks, BR2101 vertical racks in the foreground and our double story CBR8M’s.

Large Boom Gate

Asking a boom gate to operate a 10 mt long boom is really stretch-ing the operating limits for this type of equipment..... but it can be done.

our Tasmanian distributor (Glendu Investments) supplied two of these 10 mt giants for a new Davenport home maker development.

The gates were used on both the entry and exit points of the facility.

Leda can proudly boast that we have the largest range of commer-cial boom gates and vehicle control products in Australia.

Manual Vertical Boom Gate

Leda’s Brisbane office recently installed a 7.2mt manual vertical boom gate. The boom gate was installed at a gas station service centre at upper Coomera .

In this instance the client required a boom arm that could be used in emergencies to close the entry point to the service station.

Sliding Boom Gate

Parks Victoria have installed another Leda sliding boom gate on one of their national parks.

The unit was installed by Leda on the entrance to the “you yangs” regional park entrance to provide vehicular access control. Leda staff also installed one way tyre spikes on the exit to deter unau-thorised traffic entering after hours.

The sliding boom gate has been set up to open and close automat-ically at the pre-determined times. It can also be operated remotely by mobile phone using GSM technology.

Henderson MSIC Port

Leda’s Western Australian team has recently supplied and installed a number of perimeter security products around the Henderson, WA port which is dedicated to loading the construction material and equipment for the barge’s that travel to the Gorgon project.

The purpose of our turnstiles and the integration of the access control provided by GMS Security is to achieve a MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) rating.

10mt Cantilver Gate

our Victorian installation team have just returned from central Victoria where a 10mt cantilever gate system was installed at a busy entrance of a local food pro-cessing company.

The gate is operating constantly and a heavy duty high speed motor was installed to drive it. The gate is controlled with a GSM unit allowing it to be operated from staff mobile phones. A pin pad unit was also installed by our technicians as a back up

Cooke and Foley

Cooke & Foley, a Ballarat based company of CPA’s who specialise in helping small business owners, contacted Leda Security to replace an old chain wire mesh fence and gate (see attached) with a new industrial style Premier fence and automated industrial sliding gate system.

There were some minor challenges such as manoeuvring crane trucks down the original narrow lane ways of Ballarat, however the end result was very successful. The gate leading to the carpark is multi-tenanted and has been fitted with GSM technology allowing all reg-istered tenants to operate the gate with their mobile phones.

Train Stopper

Leda manufactures some very high impact rated gates but we haven’t yet managed to design one that will stop a fully laden goods train.

Leda’s NSW installation staff recently replaced this Leda swing gate at Port Botany after a locomo-tive had damaged it as a result of an operating error.

L E D A G AT E S

While we may not be able to stop a train we do have gates that will stop just about everything else.

Leda is known as the “go-to” company when a high security or difficult gate needs to be engi-neered and fabricated.

Leda’s Regal bollards have been extensively used extensively to provide security at both the domes-tic and international terminals at Perth Airport.

Hundreds of our stainless steel bollards were installed when the terminals were upgraded several years ago.

More recently two further terminals (T1 & T2) have been built to cater for the high number of fly in / fly out miners. Leda manufactured and supplied the bollards to Tubelock. The builder on the project was Broad Constructions.

Dock Leveller for Rendezvous

our Western Australian team recently supplied and installed a dock leveller to the Northerly Group for the refurb project of the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough.

The dock leveller is mounted near the lifts to assist in heavy loads to & from the hotel.

Wash Down Rapid Door

Compact and versatile with state-of-the-art technology, Ditec Alimax is ideal when hygiene and prac-ticality are the most important prerogatives.

In addition to applications in the food sector such as processing meat, fish, dairy and confection-ery products, fruit and pasta, the new Ditec product can be used in warehouses, supermarkets and car washes.

Ditec Alimax reduces drafts, loss of heat, noise pollution and dust.

The fast opening (up to 1.5 m/s) and closing speeds and its compact size make it possible to optimise the flow of people, trolleys and vehicles. It has a self-repair-ing system capable of automati-cally resetting the door after being bumped accidentally which might cause the curtain to slip out of the side tracks: a simple opening and closing manoeuvre is all that is needed, automatically.

The self-repairing system and the innovative safety rib keep the curtain and merchandise intact during transit, cancelling down times and the inconveniences due to the maintenance opera-tions necessary if the curtain is damaged.

The Security 2013 Conference is Australia’s premier security indus-try event. over 3 days, exhibi-tors showcased the latest secu-rity technologies and innova-tion. They brought real solutions to Australasia’s dynamic secu-rity industry. The most recog-nised brands in the industry show-cased new and innovative ways to manage security threats, alongside some exciting new features which will uncover the next generation of security.

Leda exhibited The high security “Defender” barriers which provide high security vehicular access control barriers in the form of a vertical boom gate. Also on display was one of Leda’s shallow mount bollard systems. It allows installa-tion of both architectural and secu-rity bollards in less than 200mm depth footings.

Leda’s High Risk Manager Heng Cheng was asked to present to a forum on “Hostile Vehicle Mitigation” at this years exhibition.

The event allowed for some very interesting discussion with numer-ous visitors resulting in many new relationships being fostered. Again Leda thanks all that attended and hope to see new and old faces at the next Asial exhibition in Melbourne (2014).

The old adage that “you only nor-mally hear back from a client is when something goes wrong” is very true so it is always pleasing when happy clients advise their satisfaction

“Dear Les, just have to say how happy we are with our new gate. Right from your initial prompt response and good advice all the way through to the guys who installed the gate – it was a pleasure doing business with you and your team. And the gate itself is a huge success – it is just what we wanted – thanks again for all your help – kind regards Georgia.

Leda’s New Zealand distributor CAM have just installed two secure Bike Cage (Bike Park) facilities for Auckland Transport. These spe-cialist CAM aluminium structures provide secure cycle park n ride service for patrons at Papakura and Papatoetoe Rail Stations. Auckland Transport is actively encouraging cycling to the railway stations and these covered and secure facilities should offer peace of mind for cyclists to leave their bikes at the station while taking the train to other parts of the city.

Each Bike Park caters for at least 20 bikes internally and at least another 10 bikes externally for casual cyclists. Each Bike Park is fitted with Securabike wall hanging and horizontal ground bike rails. The rails are sized to support bicy-cles correctly and offer full locking opportunities.
