Messages from the Headteacher
Dear Parents/Carers
HOLY CROSS MULTI-ACADEMY COMPANY CONSULTATION - We look forward to seeing parents at the
informal consultation meeting at 5.00pm on Thursday 4 October 2018 to discuss becoming part of Holy Cross Multi
Academy Company. Advertising is also taking place for a shadow board of directors. If you are interested or know of
anyone who may be suitable, particularly people from a legal, HR or finance background, there will be an information meeting
in the Margaret Roper Room at St Thomas More on Wednesday 10 October at 6.00pm. A reminder that all members of the
board of directors must be practising catholics.
PTA MEETING - We are also looking forward to meeting parents at our first official PTA meeting which takes place at
6.00pm on Thursday 4 October 2018, after the MAC consultation meeting.
YEAR 11 INFORMATION EVENING - Thank you to those parents who attended Year 11 Information Evening last night
to hear important information about the year ahead. The PowerPoint presentation and examination information booklet for
parents are both available on the website.
HOMEWORK POLICY - September saw the successful launch of the new Homework Policy. All homework set will be
designed to consolidate and extend the learning that takes place in the classroom. If a student fails to complete the
homework by the deadline they will be place in a 50 minute detention on a Thursday evening for Years 7 to 10 and Friday
evening for Year 11. The students have responded very well to the change and should be very proud of the work they are
completing independently at home. A full copy of the new Homework Policy can be found on the school website along with
a Homework Timetable for this academic year.
YEAR 7 PARENTS’ EVENING - We look forward to seeing all Year 7 students and their parents at Parents’ Evening on
Thursday 11 October 2018, 4.30-7.00pm. Staff will be on hand to discuss targets and the progress being made in core
subjects. There will also be an opportunity to meet your son/daughter’s tutor to discuss how they have settled into
secondary school. Parents should have received a letter about the arrangements for the evening and how to book
appointments using the online booking system.
I hope you all have a good week, Mrs Marina Kelly, Headteacher

Year 7s have been working on inspirational mottos for their tutor

Out of almost 200 mottos that were offered they were narrowed down to eight
