10 March 2017 Messages from the Headteacher Dear Parent/Carers National Funding Formula - As you will have recently heard in the news the government is planning to introduce a new “National Funding Formula” for all schools from April 2018. This is now the subject of a consultation ending on the 22 March. Unfortunately the impact of the planned changes will be to significantly reduce the money available to schools in Coventry. All schools in Coventry (except for 4 Primary) will receive less funding from April 2018 if this goes ahead as proposed. Please support our school in ensuring that we get the right outcomes for all Coventry children and young people to be able to continue to give them the best possible education by responding to the consultation at the link below. However, we recognise that the consultation is complex and you can also express your views by either contacting school and supporting our response to the consultation or by making representation via our local MP, Geoffrey Robinson (Coventry North West). Email - [email protected] The link to the consultation: is: https://consult.education.gov.uk/funding-policy-unit/schools-national-funding-formula2/ Despite the Government denials about school funding cuts in real terms our school budget has already been cut by about 8%. The National Funding Formula, if introduced as it currently stands, would reduce our budget by another £160 000 per year. It is essential that we get as many responses as possible to the consultation as the proposed changes to school funding will inevitably impact negatively on the future education of our students. Next on the agenda was making Bath Bombs, which produced a particularly keen turn out from Year 7. A variety of colours and scents were produced – red, blue, green, mint, orange, lavender. After allowing the bombs to dry overnight, they were collected and taken home the following day. An even larger turnout participated in making slime a couple weeks later. It’s hoped to do a flight with the latest version in the latter part of the summer term. We have been collecting 50p's to support a charity in Cov- entry that offer a three course meal to those in need for a donation of just 50p. Aspire Value - Service

As a Catholic community recognised by

our love of God and of our neighbour

we are proud of the tremendous service

our students provide both in school and

in the wider community. During the

season of Lent we are all called to help

others. Have you made an effort to take

part in the 50 pence challenge to buy

meals for the homeless in Coventry?

Will you make an effort to bring in an

Easter egg for us to send to those in our

city who need our support? Try to find

ways during Lent to help others in any

way that you can.

hearts to love" Mother Teresa

Newman Fact of the week

In 1846 Newman went to Rome and was ordained a priest. He joined the Oratorian order, and he returned to England

to found the Oratory at Edgbaston near Birmingham, and later the London Oratory.
