The Kindergarten transition activities last week were a phenomenal success, culminating with wonderful morning tea on Thursday. 5/6D planned, prepared and served a range of delicious foods to Kindergarten and pre-school students and their families. I was overjoyed with the outstanding work of our senior students. They displayed beautiful manners and were a credit to their school. Our senior students have been brilliant this year and really are a credit to their school. Thanks again seniors! Core Values: Our Core Value this week is Care. This is an essential aspect of everyone’s life and a central focus for our school. We show we care by: Making sure everyone is included in games on the playground; Trying hard with our learning; and, Following the school rules. Swim Scheme The second week of Swim Scheme starts today. The staff and students have had a fantastic time heading to the pool everyday to brush up on the swimming skills. Thank you parents for supporting this vital program. We have had the highest number of students participating in this program for many years. Water safety is one of the most important skills an Australian child can have. Great Aussie Bush Camp It is only one more week until the Great Aussie Bush camp. This fantastic opportunity has been made possible by the hard work of Mr Davies, Alana and our senior students who have worked tirelessly to fundraise and support this camp. Students will benefit from activities like canoeing and the giant swing while away. For further details, please contact Mr Davies or the front office. Stop Work Meeting: The NSW Teacher’s Federation has called a Stop Work Meeting for tomorrow morning, Tuesday 3 December, from 9am to 11am. As our school will only be able to offer ‘minimal supervision’, parents are asked to keep students at home wherever possible until after 11am. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated. KEMPSEY SHIRE LIBRARY Investigate mysteries, hunt down clues and

become masters of disguise at Kempsey Library

Kempsey Library's Summer Reading Club starts at 4pm on Friday 6 December when library staff will be opening up registrations for the club, and offering an afternoon of super sleuthing and pizza eating. This year’s theme is “Investigation” and staff have designed a fun electronic quiz to get everyone searching for clues and finding answers online. If you have a laptop or ipad bring it along on the day to complete the online quiz (or you can use the library computers). If you can’t make it along to our registration day, you can sign up after that date at any library branch. Note that you must be a library member to sign up for the Summer Reading club, but library membership is free and can be done on the day provided you have a parent or carer with you to show proof of address. The aim of the Summer Reading Club is to keep kids reading throughout the summer break, by providing a structured program of activities and events. You can learn more about the SRC at www.summerreadingclub.org.au Bookings for the registration afternoon would be helpful so staff can order enough pizza for everyone! Contact Kempsey Library on 6566 3210, or send an email to [email protected] If you forget to book ahead, don’t worry – just turn up on the day.
