On 6th May 2021, this was initiated with support of Hon. MP-Hazaribag Mr. Jayant Sinha and other organizations/individual like CCL, TVS, Bread For the World, Action Village India, Mission for Vision, Bihar Foundry and Castings Limited, R Jhunjhunwala Foundation and Shri Roushan Lal Jee. Hon. MP has inaugurated the Center online on 11 May 2021. The COVID Care Center has been allocated total 30 beds including 20 beds with Oxygen support and this served total 33 patients (Female-05, Male-28) suffering from COVID-19 while after treatment, 26 patients have been discharged with negative report. But at the same time this is sad to accept that 4 persons couldn't be saved despite best efforts. Generally all incoming patients belong to different remote villages of Chauparan block and 20 have been provided their proper treatment free of any cost. With support of Schroders-Singapore, NBJK organizes COVID Care camps at Panchayat level in Hazaribag, Gaya & Chatra districts to save people in remote villages. At such 24 camps during the period of 14 May-11 June 2021, 1322 villagers gone through checkup of their oxygen level-body temperature-pulse rate and symptomatic people have got related medicines. It handed over 12 oximeters to responsible persons like headmen, teachers in far-off villages. Mrs. Manju Agrawal (Hon. MLA-Sherghati) and Mr. Vijay Manjhi (Hon. MP-Gaya) have participated in such camps. With help of Arghyam-Bangalore, NBJK distributed Oximeters among 324 and Vaporizers amid 81 Covid patients on Use & Return basis in Hazaribag Sadar, Katkamdag, Katkamsandi, Daroo, Churchu, Chauparan & Ichak blocks of Hazaribag district. This helped people to monitor their oxygen level, towards readiness for medical support and helped them to fast recovery with regular steam inhaling. Likewise with help of HDFC Bank, an awareness campaign was launched by NBJK to battle with Covid in the villages of Chanho block of Ranchi district. This included miking with leaflet & mask distribution among people. The campaign has covered 15 villages, helped to reduce panic of the pandemic and communicated about prohibitory measures against Cororna. With aid from GiveIndia, US GiveIndia Foundation, Skoll Foundation and Linde, NBJK started Covid Care Rural Outreach Camps with aim to access minimum 9000 people in 450 villages of Hazaribag district. Mr. Manish Jaiswal (Hon. MLA, Hazaribag Sadar) inaugurated the program. This provides medicines to villagers suffering from cold-cough-fever or COVID like symptoms after their checkup. Besides that, checkup of blood pressure-blood sugar-cataract is available for the persons of 40-50 years age group and NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital; Bahera (Chauparan) will conduct their cataract surgery free of cost under REH program with support of Sightsavers. During the camps, NBJK provides Oximeter & Infrared Thermometer to Rural Medical Practitioners for better treatment of villagers. With support of GiveIndia, NBJK offers Rs. 15,000 to Covid deceased families to initiate any income generation activity and trying to provide one month's ration to such families or to others from weaker section. Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives Pvt. Ltd. & Goonj have supported to provide edible essentials for such 800 families. Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Co. Ltd. addresses marketing problem

April-June 2021, Kunti: Murhu Nari Shakti Kisan Producer Co. Ltd., the company promoted under the program of “Lakhpati Kisan-Smart Village” by NBJK with support of CInI-Tata Trusts, has initiated to address marketing problem of Farmers' Producer Groups. These groups are associated with MNSKPCL and during lockdown caused by COVID-19 second wave in Jharkhand, the farmers were anxious about marketing of different high value farm produces they grow usually. Mr. Mohit Purty (Manager, NBJK-Khunti) says that despite lockdown we could be able to arrange marketing of Tomato-78 MT, Watermelon-305 MT, Tamarind-10 MT, Jackfruit-12 MT, Mango-32 MT and Goat-60 nos. There was low demand and we have tried to transport our produces to other districts like Ranchi, West Singhbhum, Dhanbad etc as these have market linkages to Odisha, West Bengal & Bihar; he comes with a reason. Currently 8 to 10 farmers' groups with more than 100 women farmers are very active and making income through MNSKPL, now co-opted by JOHAR project of JSLPS too.

Activities of SBI Gram Seva Project April-June 2021, Chakai & Deoghar: During last few months in 10 villages of Chakai & Deoghar Sadar blocks respectively, NBJK run SBI Gram Seva project with support of SBI Foundation-Mumbai has focused upon sustainable use of the assets created by the project earlier. The beneficiaries have organized meetings of Village Development Committees for this purpose. The project has promoted convergence with Govt. schemes on old aged pension, agriculture, crop insurance, opening of bank account etc. as well as ensured people's participation in awareness events on COVID-19, Women's Day and Republic Day. Also the project team has provided capacity building training to SHG women upon pragmatic utilization of small loan, kitchen gardening and ensured their training on different income generation skills at Rural Self Employment Training Institutes. On 21 June, the children & youths of Remedial Coaching Centers and Community Information Centers at project vi l lages have celebrated International Yoga Day enthusiastically. In Chakai block of Jamui district of Bihar, the villages namely Heth Chakai, Mamtadih, Patjori, Garhi and Chhachhudih while in Sadar block of Deoghar district of Jharkhand, Ramaldih,Sahari, Barsatiya, Gadi and Nawadih villages fall under the project.

COVID Preventive Measures & Other Events at Lord

Buddha Home for Children April-June 2021, Silaunja (Bodhgaya): Founded with support of Stichting Kinderhulp Bodhgaya-the Netherlands and NBJK run Lord Buddha Home for Children has taken preventive measures against COVID-19 for the orphan children live here. There are total 59 persons including 48 children, 4 mothers, 3 support staffs and 2 management staffs in the campus those followed concerned guidelines strictly and all are safe. The inmates adhered with the rules like mask wearing, social distancing and proper hand washing with soap-sanitizer, likewise continued regular games with Yoga practice and minimum outings completely. The management took care for cleanliness of the premises and keeping view of the pandemic threat later, it sent 40 children to safer places for the time being and 8 children were at the Home but all the children are secured. Also it inclined for vaccination of all children when the Government will open the drive while most of the staffs have been vaccinated or in process of the same. On 5 June, LBHC children have celebrated World Environment Day by sowing 19 plants of 13 verities in the campus with a protection oath. Likewise on 21 June, the children, mothers and staffs of LBHC & Komal Pujan Public School have observed International Yoga Day with demo by a group of children under guidance of Md. Nayeem (Asst. Inauguration of COVID Care Center at LNJPEH, Bahera 11 May 2021, Bahera (Chauparan), Hazaribag: Mr. Jayant Sinha (Hon. MP-Hazaribag) has inaugurated Covid Care Center online at NBJK run Loknayak Jai Prakash Eye Hospital. The initiative is supported by Central Coalfields Ltd., TVS Motor Co., Bread for the World, Action Village India, Mission for Vision, Bihar Foundry & Castings Ltd., R. Jhunjhunwala Foundation and Shri Roshan Lal. This 30 bedded CC Center is situated on the hospital's 3rd floor constructed with support from Aditya Birla Capital. The Center has been established and completed in record time under able guidance of the honorable MP. Currently 5 oxygen supported beds are functional here with chances to add 20 such beds soon. Mr. Sinha assured to initiate two more CCCs at Hazaribag and a nearby block with capacity of 50 oxygen supported beds. NBJK Organizes COVID Care Rural Outreach Camps 24 June 2021, Hazaribag: With support of GiveIndia, US GiveIndia Foundation, Skoll Foundation and Linde, NBJK is organizing COVID Care Rural Outreach Camps in rural areas at panchayat level.

During 15-23 June, such outreach camps have covered 66 villages of 16 panchayats in Hazaribag Sadar, Daroo, Ichak, Vishnugarh blocks of the district. These attended 976 OPD with sugar test for 233 and identified cataract with 51 & pterygium with 6. NBJK run LNJP Eye Hospital, Bahera (Chauparan, Hazaribag) will take care of the people suffering from eye problems under its Rural Eye Health program with support of Sightsavers India.

At the camps, medicines are being distributed among patients of cough, cold, throat infection and 16 Rural Medical Practitioners have received the sets of Oximeter & Infrared Thermometer to improve their easily accessible service for villagers. When NBJK/LNJPEH has organized a COVID Care Camp at his village, Shadab was identified with symptoms of Novel Coronavirus. After little queries, it became clear that this young man belongs to a poor family and may not be able to bear proper treatment of COVID-19 pandemic. With permission of his family members, our health workers took Shadab to the COVID Care Center. Now he was under professional care and followed suitable medication with other protocols at the Center. Within a week, Shadab has defeated the disease and recovered finally. He has been discharged from COVID Care Center and went to his village safely. Mr. Shadab Akhtar appreciates the initiative by COVID Care Team that enabled him to get good treatment at the Center and saved his life.

Memories of Emergency 25 June 1975: A Symposium

25 June 2021, Hazaribag: On 25th June a symposium on “Memories of Emergency 25 June 1975” held at NBJK co-ordination office. Mr. Swarup Chand Jain (Advocate) has chaired the event. Mr. Girija Satish (President, NBJK & National Lok Samiti) introduced the theme and said that Emergency regime was a form of dictatorship which permitted arbitrary actions of the Government to torture common people. He called kindness, collective decision and honor to people's views as vital ingredients of any democratic system and to restore these values we must get rid of the prejudices related to caste, religion, race, region, language etc. Mr. Gautam Sagar Rana (Ex-MLA) who led anti-emergency movement in Hazaribag during his young age has appreciated NBJK for organizing this meeting and said about the conflict between State Power & People's Powers that resulted as defeat of S t a t e P o w e r . A l s o M r . M u r a r i S i n g h (Environmentalist), Mr. Umesh Pratap (Secretary-BJJK, Ichak), Prof. Pramod Kumar (Teacher, Dept. of Political Science, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag), Mr. Krishna Ram Thakur (Ex-Teacher), Mr. Bateshwar Prasad Mehta (Politician), Prof. Subodh Singh Shivgeet (Teacher, Dept. of Hindi, VBU), Dr. Prasann Mishra (Journalist) and Mr. Shamsher Alam (Social Worker) have shared their views. From the chair, Mr. Swarup Chand Jain clarified that disagreement with or protest to the ruling power can't be termed as sedition. He named mob lynching as black spots on our democracy. Mr. Jain called for people's stake to improve our democratic setup and thanked NBJK for the seminar.
