On Thursday 26th May the
Year 5 children had the
opportunity to visit QPR
football club as part of the
Premier League Reading Stars Programme to promote
reading through sport. This was a thoroughly enjoyable
experience for our pupils who had the opportunity to
interact and ask various questions to individuals who work
professionally in football. Each class were given an insightful
tour of the stadium before speaking to the various individuals
about reading and life in professional sport. By Mr McKenna
Pentecost Assembly
Class 5B and Class 5G produced and
presented a wonderful assembly on
Thursday 19th May illustrating the
importance of Pentecost and the role of the
Holy Spirit in our everyday lives. The production included a
range of interesting information and knowledge, traditions from
around the world, drama based on the key events and the gifts
of the Holy Spirt as well as beautiful hymns linked to the
important feast. The assembly illustrated the outstanding gifts
and talents of our students combined with their conscientious
effort during the Pentecost topic in our Religious Education
lessons. By Mr McKenna

Year 5 and 6 Football Fun Day
Congratulations to the children who
represented the school at the
Hammersmith and Fulham Football Fun
Day 2016. They were a credit to the
school and both teams played well. A
special congratulations go to the girls
who came 3rd overall.
The Saga of Erik the Viking
Year 4 have been reading ‘The Saga of
Erik the Viking’ in class. This week Class
4G wrote another chapter of the book,
inventing their own monster or magical
creature that Erik could meet on his
quest. Miss Kearney was so impressed
by their writing that she wanted to
celebrate it by sharing their myths with
Class 2B! “I was really looking forward
to reading my story to my sister,” said
Amy Arroyo Anon. Class 2B really
enjoyed the stories and Class 4G
enjoyed their feedback. “They have used lots of great adjectives,”
said Jerome. Miss Stiffell was delighted that the Year 2 children
picked up on all the great adjectives in the stories and learnt
some new words from the Year 4 children!

Year 4 Schools to Market Project
On Thursday 19th May the Year 4 children involved in the
Schools to Market project visited the Whole Foods store in
Fulham Broadway to look at the way food is packaged. The
children looked at the products on sale and studied the
packaging. They evaluated how effective and informative
the packaging was in order to inform the advertising and
packaging of their own chutney. The children spent time
looking at the prices and designs of different chutneys and
developed ideas linked to the product they are designing
and making. They realised that their packaging must be
linked to what they are making but somehow be unique
and attractive to the buyer. By Mr Kincaid
To celebrate that May is the month of Mary the school
held a May Procession in honour of Our Lady. The Key
Stage 2 children gathered in the school hall to say a decade of the
Rosary led by Father Ivano. They then processed to join the rest
of the school in the courtyard where everyone sung the ‘Hail
Mary’ and other hymns dedicated to Our Lady. Children from
across the school led us in prayer and reflection. Each child then
presented a flower which formed part of the glorious floral
tribute that laid around the statue of Our Lady in the courtyard.

Gaelic Football Blitz.
On Thursday 26th May, ten Year 4 children represented
the school in a Gaelic Football Blitz at Tara Gaelic
Grounds, Wembley. There were twenty teams competing
with the tournament being split into four groups of five
teams. The children were keen and excited to play
following six weeks of training in their PE lessons. The
team played really well, although, they found the morning
games quite challenging. After lunch the team found their
rhythm, mistakes disappeared and points became easy to
achieve. The team finished the afternoon games
undefeated. Congratulations to the whole team.
