Principal’s report 29 May 2020
Welcome back VCE students
It was great to see our VCE students return this week.
Report Writing day
Friday 19th June will be a report writing day. No students are required at
school. We anticipate providing modified Semester one reports before the
end of term 2.
Removal of portables
Our portables are just about gone now. Some have been with us for over 20
years.
The contractors will still be on site next week cleaning up the site and
repairing fencing and footpaths that were damaged by the very heavy
trucks.
Remote learning weekly winners
Congratulations to our winners. With only a few weeks left please get your last entries in!
Remote Teaching statistics
The attendance rates for our remote teaching continue to be above 97% for all year levels.

Debating
Debating Update
With the closures of extracurricular and external programs due to Covid-19 restrictions, unfortunately the traditional Debating program is unable to run this year. This is, obviously, very sad news for all involved.
Fortunately, due to the tech savvy-ness of our students, we have been able to run one online debate during the remote learning period. This was conducted between the Year 11 team of; Emily Badcock, Claire Mercado and Simran Bhatt and, the Year 12 team of; Josh Duncan, Felix Donahoo-Andrusiak and Catherine Cheng. The students debated the topic 'That the 'COVIDSafe' App should be legislated making it compulsory for all Australian citizens to download.' - and saw the year 12 team take out victory with their affirmative argument. All students spoke well and produced some great ideas.
Moving forward, the Debater's Association of Victoria (DAV) have set up an online competition that will consist of 3 rounds within the space of term 2. We are very excited to say that our year 10 team; Anjana Niranjan, Phoebe Ferguson, Ananaya Rajora and Novica Pearsall, will be participating in this opportunity. I look forward to one day being able to see our debaters in action again but, for the mean time, it has been fantastic to see the resilience and enthusiasm of our students as they adapt to the "new normal" for now.
